Tom Donohue at Ovation Builders was the General Contractor for a major remodel we just completed on a 28 year old home we recently bought. It was clear when I interviewed Tom in June to begin work in late July that his work ethic as well as business processes were impressive. The proposed work included gutting a laundry room to convert to a luxury bathroom (with shower and new vanity) that involved adding a toilet line that had to be routed to the basement and adding all electrical as well as insulation. He also built an 8'x11' closet by converting a bedroom, adding a new entry door to the adjacent bedroom, moving a wall and adding all electrical work and closet shelves and hanging rods. Tom was communicative about all work that was expected to be done and completion times. Any time there was a disruption or issue to be addressed, he was in close contact and present on the job site. Near the beginning of the project, we learned that the house was full of inferior Qest pipes that needed to be entirely removed. Tom hired the right, expert team (Hey Homes) who managed and executed an extensive job. He clearly brought the "A-team" to our project, from plumbers, to painters, tile workers, the demo crew, construction, electricians (Skyline), floor refinishers and project managers. We talked openly about costs and timelines and Tom managed all meetings with cabinetry professionals as well as vanity stone and plumbing fixtures. This project began before we had moved to Keswick from California and continued while I had COVID. Tom and his team would speak with me on FaceTime or call for any clarifications or decisions. He finished on time and ON budget, which he managed very well and reported to me regularly. During a time when supply chains and lack of personnel present challenges to the construction industry, Tom did an outstanding job at setting my expectations and gave me sound advice on how to work around some of the hurdles we had to jump. I'm a happy homeowner that will continue to work with Ovation Builders, Tom Donohue and his terrific team.
