Resourceful Renovator

As a new homeowner, I was venturing into the world of renovation and contracting for the first time. Rob, Heather, and the team at Resourceful Renovator were incredibly responsive, helpful, and professional. We were working with plans the previous owners had developed with RR and Heather worked from that foundation to help me personalize the project to my needs and interests. Heather's advance design planning and attention to detail meant the team could hit the ground running when the demolition got underway. During construction it was clear that Rob has a keen eye for maintaining the character of an old building even while modernizing the space. The team communicated clearly, provided frequent budget and progress updates, and consulted with me on any deviations from our plans to ensure there were no surprises. Even with some personnel shifts mid-project, the timeline stayed roughly the same and the quality of work was not affected. The budget creeped up a bit during the project, but that was expected with the scope of the work and was also due to design decisions on my part. Overall, I felt like the project was great value for money. Even though there wasn't much to work with on the "resourceful" side of the project, Rob was able to find creative ways to convert my old kitchen island into floating shelves, reuse the window molding to unify new additions to the rest of the space, and to preserve and spruce up the existing beams in the kitchen. As great as it was to have my kitchen and bathroom finished and my space back, I have to say I missed having the RR team around and getting the daily progress updates! I could not speak more highly of the whole process with RR.

Working with Resourceful Renovator was the absolute best experience I’ve had with a contractor in my 40 years of home ownership! The staff is responsive- they listen and really hear what you want/expect from a job. Every step of the way during our recent kitchen renovation was easy— construction was neat and showed care for the rest of my house! And the work was completed with excellence. We are looking forward to a continued relationship with this innovative, creative and skilled group of people.

Rob and his team did an amazing renovation of our historic duplex. His team took the house down to the studs and rebuilt it to modern standards while keeping true to the house and neighborhood. Rob's appreciation for craftsmanship was apparent as he and his team went the extra mile to replicate original millwork, save and reuse materials. His crew is talented, respectful, and run a very clean job site. Living in another state was a challenge that we addressed by weekly calls. Rob kept us up to date with the budget and helped us make informed decisions. The design software was helpful to visualize what the project would look like and we enjoyed the daily update photos on Buildertrend. Heather was invaluable! She was integral in the layout and design process, making appointments with vendors, ordering everything for 2 houses, organizing installations and communicating with tradesmen. My many questions were answered thoughtfully, tactfully and in a timely manner. We love our house!

Rob and his crew worked on our seasonal camp on Mallets Bay in Colchester, VT. Being a seasonal camp we wanted to keep it authentic, but do some much needed work. Rob was able to do exactly that. It is almost impossible to know that the camp was actually worked on and this is a great thing! Resourceful Renovator was able to sure up the foundation, put on a new roof, replace some windows, put in a new slider door as well as replace some rot and match the existing millworked siding. I received daily updates through an app that also included photos of the work that had been done each day. The work space was clean and tidy. Resourceful Renovator was able to work within our budget with outstanding results. I highly recommend Resourceful Renovator for any home project, big or small. I will definitely be using them again for any future upgrades or projects.

Rob and his team listened to what we were looking for, which I appreciated and the end result looks great. Brian and Heather were key players and their efforts didn’t go unnoticed. I wanted our money to go a bit further, but some other quotes we received from other contractors were ridiculous, so overall we are happy with Resourceful Renovator’s and their work! We will ask them to do another project in the future!

We had a great experience working with Rob and his crew at Resourceful Renovator! We have a multi-phase project and completed the outdoor portion this past summer. RR built beautiful new cedar decks, integrated new railings with an existing deck, and replaced a sliding glass door, taking great care of the adjoining areas of the house and paying close attention to fine details. One porch was designed for a possible conversion to a 3-season room in mind, and Rob's flexibility and creativity in the design process have been awesome. All of the workers at our home have been professional, knowledgable and friendly, accommodating our sometimes curious kids and pets. We will be working with RR again next year on more interior remodeling and are really excited for it.

Loving the work done by Rob and his team! Both my husband and I lives in NY, and we own a place in VT. We hired Rob to do some work for our VT house (bathroom renovation, electrical, decks, etc.). Rob was very reliable, communicative, and professional in managing the project and keeping us up-to-date of all events and activities. My most favorite thing about working with Rob was when he came to us in discussing any arise issues, he always provide solutions for us to choose from. We truly enjoy working with him & his team. Our home looks amazing, and if we ever need any more work to be done to the house, we will definitely go back to Rob :)...

Rob came out and took a look at the addition I was thinking about. He said he would get back to us with an estimate. After a month I received an e-mail from his his office manager., saying they had landed bigger job in Lakeside and had no time for us in the forseable near future and he was short on help. Not what I expected after reading the reviews here.

Resourceful Renovator recently completed a large renovation of our home and we are 100% satisfied with the results. The project included a complete kitchen and bathroom remodel, taking walls down in the living area, new flooring and finishing throughout, and many other small projects to round out the work. The team provided tremendous insight and expertise at all points of the process - from design, to budgeting, to progress communication and of course with their excellent craftsmanship. Their specialty with older homes turned a lovely, but worn out, house into a magnificent home for our family. We couldn't be happier and will certainly use them in the future.

We hired Resourceful Renovator to help us with a transformational series of projects that included converting a garage into a new living room, a new bathroom, a new entryway, a new kitchen and a dining room. Based on the scope of work, our financing, and our busy schedules we wanted to space the work over two years, focusing on the living room and bathroom during one summer and the kitchen and entryway during the following summer. It was a lot for us to bite off, definitely the largest investment we'll likely ever make in our 1866 Vermont farmhouse. Now that we're well past the finish line and have enjoyed several months in our new spaces, we can say with certainty that Rob, Jen, and their crew delivered a top tier product. We appreciated the focus on our project from start to finish with limited down time while underway. Rob was always available to listen to our ideas and helped us "zoom out" when we got too buried in the minutia. His experience and expertise were evident throughout the entire process as he helped to not only guide his employees but seamlessly wove his subcontractors into the mix in a timely and highly efficient manner. The job site was left clean and tidy each evening and we felt completely at ease with the RR crew having access to our home each day as we left for work. Did a few minor issues come up during the project? Sure. Is that completely normal during any project of this scope? You bet! Were those issues addressed and sorted out professionally? Most definitely. Would those issues have been sorted out as neatly with another contractor? That's anyone's guess but I'm glad we didn't have to find out! We are happy to have partnered with RR for our projects and hope this review helps others make their decision to do so as well.
