About Us

I have been around construction since a very young age so naturally I have always had a passion for building and renovating. When I started Rusty Construction, I knew my goal was to have a company with many resources and endless possibilities. At Rusty Construction, we ensure a personalized service that is customized to the client's needs. I myself, Rastislav "Rusty" Smid, will personally be overlooking every project. I take great pride in the work and business as well as enthusiastically serve my clients. Preparation is key for a smooth running project. We start to plan before we even begin the project and keep consistent communication with our clients on a daily basis from start to finish. Our crews are always on time because we value our time as well as our clients. Also, we deliver on what we say we will do. Quality work, quality materials, respect, knowledge and happy clients are a complete representation of what Rusty Construction is built on.

Last year we came from from vacation to discover that our upstairs bathroom had a burst pipe which flooded our front entryway into our finished basement. Rusty showed up right away and immediately brought a calming influence to a very frustrating situation. He not only addressed the issue at hand but improved our house in almost everyway, from the entryway to the basement and bathroom. His work was meticulous and thorough and incorporated the right finishing touches. Due to this experience, we have now used Rusty Construction for several more projects including new siding, rood, doors and windows. His general knowledge, quick response time and honesty have been invaluable over the last year. We look forward to planning more home improvement projects with Rusty in the future.

Rusty is a true professional. He shows up when he says he will and is always reliable. He renovated our kitchen on the timeline he said he would and did a fantastic job. He kept us in the loop during the whole project and made several recommendations that were cost effective. He cleaned up after himself and I must say I was amazed that my house wasn't dusty. I highly recommend using him for a renovation!

Rusty Construction built a beautiful, multi-level deck, on the back of our house. My husband was very impressed with the extremely strong foundation He communicated well with us and incorporated our ideas into the project. He has a strong work ethic. He showed up on time every day, and stayed overtime when needed, and completed the project on time. His price was fair and he stuck to his estimate. We continue to get compliments on the beautiful deck he built. Rusty is a consummate professional contractor and we would use him again and recommend him to others.

We have used Rusty for multiple home projects, including a kitchen renovation, 3 bathrooms, and a bedroom addition. He is timely, courteous, hardworking, and affordable. He has a great eye for color and has insightful suggestions for renovation ideas. He does beautiful work. Above all, he is honest, and this quality is what makes Rusty stand apart. In our projects, we were required to purchase our fixtures and appliances at the beginning of each project. This might be a slightly different approach from other contractors. I am certain we will use him again.

Rusty is the best contractor for any home or office project. He listens to what you want to do, makes great suggestions and helps you decide on materials and design every step of the way. He completely gutted and redid two complete bathrooms for us and then we hired him again to re-do our basement into a beautiful, useful room. He is ultra professional and a perfectionist. He prides himself on the quality of his work and we appreciated his attention to detail while keeping his price very reasonable.
