We hired Scala Construction for the remodel of our kitchen, the bulk of which was completed in our absence so we could avoid the construction mess. They approached the project with transparency and took the time to explain the process, schedule and options to us. We felt like our home was in good hands and appreciate the hard work everyone put in to getting as much done as possible in our absence so we could minimize our exposure to the work. In the end, the kitchen came out beautifully and revitalized the house with a more modern and open feeling. Scala has since done a second project for us and our experience was similar. We have enjoyed working with them and appreciate their collaborative approach.

We lived in our home, throughout the construction and remodel. Everybody from SCALA was not just excellent at their jobs but caring, knowledgable and punctual. We cannot stress those qualities enough, as they impact every day life. The SCALA team was excellent at overcoming obstacles, big and small, like how to make sure our dogs were safe when we were out. Jennifer is so creative, so dedicated and so kind, I wish she ran more than a construction company. Our lives would be much better and easier if she did.

We hired Scala on the recommendation of our designer Kym Rogers. Our home was built in 1955 and remodeled in the early 1990s. We wanted to keep some of the midcentury character while updating and beautifying. Our house (while technically only a bathroom, kitchen and dining room remodel) was absolutely and expertly TRANSFORMED by Scala. They raised ceilings, rebuilt ceilings, installed gorgeous new flooring throughout, hired fantastic subs, found us expensive materials at discounts, and came up with unexpected solutions big and small. They are problem solvers. They were always just a text or a phone call away. They were on budget. We trusted them completely. They could not have been nicer people or easier to work with. Our friends are completely blown away when they see our remodel. And I wake up every morning in love with my house.

Jennifer, Ben and their whole team are extremely friendly and professional. Their projects are completed on time and their communication with the clients and me (the designer) is unparalleled. The detail and craftsmanship is impeccable. Should there be even rare. small flaws as in any project, they are immediately there on-site to rectify any issues. The longstanding relationships that they have with their own subcontractors is critical to a successful project and I know I can rely on all of them. Jennifer's eye and opinion is also invaluable to me as a designer. I trust Scala Construction Inc. They know their trade and are a pleasure to work with.

I purchased my condo in the Marina and brought Scala in to do the build out. In addition to the complexities in dealing with the HOA and maintaining positive relations with the neighbors, they handled some unexpected challenges promptly and professionally. Most of the work was completed in my absence and communications were timely and detailed with sufficient explanation that my presence was not really required. The largest testament to the quality and of their work was realized during the recent sale of the condo where the corrections list was incredibly small, and the compliments on the design and work performed where flowing from both realtors and prospective buyers. Again striving to please, when provided with the list of minor adjustments required to close the sale they promptly addressed each item within a matter of days. I can highly recommend this team for any high-end construction project due to their efficiency, commitment to quality and ability to maintain communication at all phases.

I have had the pleasure of working with Scala Construction on three different high end projects, one in Manhattan Beach and two in Hermosa Beach. As a realtor, I am hesitant to make contractor recommendations because their work reflects on me and also impacts my ability to sell a property. In this case however, I can confidently make a recommendation to use this company. The quality of their work is top notch, their responsiveness and approach to clients is both warm and professional, and they are unique in their highly organized and collaborative methods of running jobs and keeping all parties up to speed at all phases of construction. Their level of service and commitment to the project doesn’t end there. I have now evolved through multiple sales (to very happy buyers) of their projects and they are happy to assist new buyers and explain the scope of what was done and even address minor issues as they come up. Scala is beyond a general contractor, they are your partner and advocate in ensuring you achieve your dream home.

Jen and Ben were personable, professional and reliable to work with. The project was in a high rise which presented some difficult obstacles with the design process but Scala construction was able to problem solve and devise construction solutions that resulted in a wonderful final product. I would definitely work with them again!

After falling in love with Manhattan Beach, we found a 4500 square foot home two blocks up from the beach badly in need of a transformation from dated 90s style spec house into the vibrant, airy beach home we always dreamed of. We hired Courtney Blanton as interior designer and she brought Scala Construction in as general contractor. Their organized and systematic approach to managing projects impressed us immediately and brought a level of detail that we really did not expect from a contractor. There was an ease and synergy with the team and Courtney and Scala collaborated closely to devise way of implementing our aesthetic wishes with the structural constraints (and surprises!) of the space. Communication was regular, detailed and easy at all points of construction and they took the time to really explain changes and adjustments provide options to address various issues that came up, and provide their input based on our needs and budget. In the end the project turned out beautifully. Their exceptional attention to detail is apparent to everybody who has visited our home and this is the result of a combination of the entire team’s effort to listen and understand what we wanted as well as their willingness to provide input and feedback on finishes and play an active role in ensuring our dream came to reality. I would definitely recommend Scala and speak highly of their capabilities in executing highly custom high end work.

I hired Scala Construction (Jennifer Koster) to do a down to the studs comprehensive remodel, including all new plumbing, electrical, and mechanical on a 1950's house. Because of all of the aesthetic changes I wanted on both the outside and inside, the house ended up needing MAJOR reinforcement and structural work, which was not reflected on the original plans. Jenn rolled with it. She hired a structural engineer on the fly and worked with him to find the least expensive solution without losing too much time. We basically built a whole new house from the ground up in 7 months! Highest recommendation!

We had repair work done. We had a major leak after a big rain. We have had the problem for years and Scala was able to fix the leak. Two other contractors over the years have tried but failed. It was great to have a winter with no leaks!!

I am a specialty concrete contractor and this was the first time I have worked with Jennifer and her team. I truly appreciated her follow through during all phases from samples to finished product. We had a great experience with Jennifer and Scala Construction. To start, they were always on site (and on time) on all scheduled work days, which is surprisingly rare for many of the other contractors we have worked with, whose schedules seem to change at the last minute without regard for the client. Their work was done on budget, and we thought their communication was especially good -- Jennifer kept us aware of any problems or changes to the original plans -- and we were also impressed with the quality of their subcontractors. We have recommended them to our neighbors and friends.
