Phil was absolutely AMAZING to work with. He is an incredibly talented tile setter and fantastic all-around general contractor. We worked with Phil to renovate two bathrooms, each of which had highly technical tile-setting requirements. He was careful and meticulous with how he approached each of the bathrooms. Phil’s work included all of the drywall installation, custom shower pan fabrication, custom heated floor installation, tile-setting, and painting. To make sure that the tile layout was perfect, he built a makeshift table in our downstairs common area and then cut and laid out each individual piece of tile prior to install. Phil is also a great problem solver. We had several unforeseen issues arise (as they always do with construction) and Phil came up with really creative solutions. Last, Phil was very transparent and reasonable with his pricing. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with Phil’s work and really look forward to working with him again on future projects.

Straightedge has done numerous projects for me. Everyone beautifully and creatively accomplished. Last one was a remodel of my kitchen. From the cabinets to the tiling to the granite. Everything well done. They have also tiled my floors and remodeled my two bathrooms. Highly recommend them for your home.

Our contractor, Phil Schwob, did an excellent job on our bathroom remodel. Phil's bid was very reasonable and he showed up on time to give us the estimate. He removed our old tub, installed new plumbing, added new tub, tiled the shower and floor, grouted the shower and floor, installed new pedestal sink and new toilet, put in new fixtures. He was very professional and had a pleasant demeanor. Phil has a creative eye for design which made him a pleasure to work with. He had some great ideas which transformed our old bathroom into a beautiful custom bathroom which now reflects our personality. He was on time every day which was a bonus The job was completed on time which we highly appreciated since we are a single bathroom home. The tile work was exceptional! We highly recommend Straightedge Construction! There are still some decent and honest contractors out there. Wow. Refreshing to work with with a good guy.

I was going to do a modern fireplace insert project and Phil was a referral. I called him, he responded right away and we arranged a meeting. It was a very rough space as I had demolished the facade a couple of years back during a remodel, and the plan had been to rebuild it at a later date. I wanted a slightly smaller version of a design I saw on Houzz from Portal Design Inc. Phil helped me work out the design- and using the specs from the insert manufacturer, he framed it out- building and reinforcing the hearth, and did the tile work. No small feat and the insert fit perfectly when it was installed. We used concrete look ceramic tile for the gray, and vertically stacked black slate cut to 3/4 inch strips and layed subway style. The result is exactly what I wanted. Phil was very easy to work with. He was reliable, meticulous and he kept everything tidy. I was so happy with his the quality of his work, I had him tile a backsplash behind the stove and another backsplash in my master bath. I would definitely work with Phil again and have already recommended him to friends.
