Sutherland has done a few small jobs in our home and remodeled our basement. The team was excellent - detail oriented, considerate of our needs and creative. They thought of tons of variables that did not even occur to us and helped us make decisions. Cost was always on Damien's mind and they worked very efficiently.

We had Sutherland renovate our master bath and children's bathroom along with a few smaller projects. The team is the kindest and most professional group around. They went above and beyond went it came to the details and perfection of each bathroom. Damian has excellent taste and brings a great eye to the project, which we didn't think we needed. We can't wait for our next project to work with them again.

Damien, Jeff, and all the guys from Sutherland provided us with a very high quality product. Our home required a substantial remodel, and was not built to anything resembling the modern standard. Sutherland rolled with the changes as they came up on what turned out to be a relatively complicated job, and managed to stay very close to budget despite the surprises. As we were living in the home at the time of the work, this job also required a good understanding of how to achieve the best compromise between their needs as builders and our needs as humans attempting to live in an active work zone. Every employee and subcontractor onsite was very cognizant of that and respectful of our needs - something in which they wildly exceeded my expectations. Most importantly, you can trust them. There's no job this size that doesn't come with its share of problems, and Damien was always prompt with communicating these things, open-minded about solutions to them, very straightforward in helping us as the homeowners to understand fully what decisions we were making. We never once felt talked down to, lied to, or otherwise taken advantage of, even when it involved a difficult discussion. The fact that Sutherland confronts things head on, rather than attempting to cover them up to protect their bid number (as a lot of builders do), meant that we got this done right the first time, and that means a lot. Finally, they listened. My wife and I are NOT handy people, and we don't have the vocabulary or design understanding to communicate everything we wanted done very well. Damien and Jeff really understood our vision, balanced that with our budget, and built us our dream home. Understand that Sutherland is not likely to be your lowest number if you're taking multiple bids for your project. I'd wager dollars to donuts, though, that they'll end up a lot closer to what your job wants to look like at the end of it. We had lower bids from people who didn't seem to understand what they were getting into or what we wnated. We had higher bids from people who wanted to build us an *amazing* home that we couldn't afford. Sutherland listened to us, informed us of what they could do in an honest and straightforward manner, and then proceeded to provide it to us. It's hard to ask for much more than that.

I chose Sutherland construction based on a recommendation from my neighbor, and I couldn't be happier with the way it all worked out. At the consult, Damien pointed out a simple adjustment we could make to the blueprints which opened up the whole kitchen. This kind of service continued throughout the whole project, the team offered advice and tips but we're never pushy and always respected our decisions. They were great with our kids and dogs, and they were always friendly and professional. Honestly, they made it as easy as a full kitchen renovation could be. Highly recommended!

Damien showed up on time and took his shoes off at the door. While this may not seem like a big deal, it was theme throughout his work for us. Our project was a fireplace demo and reconstruction, and he was fastidious in conntaining dust - we noticed none outside the project area - and at the end of each day there was no mess to walk around. When we made a change mid-project, and using a new material, he did not pause, but found the right contacts and best materials to complete the project on time and with a wonderful finished project. We have him lined up for our next project of changing out doors, molding, light fixtures and painting.

I hired Damien based upon a Front Porch Forum recommendation. I was more than pleased. I found Damien very easy to communicate with. He fully understood my timeline, budget and desired results, all of which he met and exceeded ( he did not exceed the budget, but stayed to the original costs!) my expectations. My wife and I would highly recommend Damien and Sutherland Construction for any work you need done at your home! Damien conducted a significant remodel of our kitchen. He modified existing cabinets, built new cabinets, installed major appliances, coordinated other sub-contractors (electrician, plumber), and ensured the project fit aesthetically with the rest of our kitchen. We are incredibly satisfied with the work Damien did for us. We were upgrading and retrofitting a fairly old kitchen and it feels completely different now--a major improvement on our tight budget. Damien worked with us every step of the way to make sure it fit our needs and budget. Damien was incredibly upfront about costs and schedule. In fact, we were buying our house and having a baby within a month of each other, so schedule was very important to us. He made sure the work was done cleanly, efficiently, and in-time for us to bring our daughter home to a finished space. We ended up very close to our original budget and time schedule. He is incredibly responsive by email, phone, and in-person. He always made sure we knew the schedule of work and what the next steps were in the process. He's very easy to work with and is very flexible.

I recently hired Damien Helem of Sutherland Construction for a bathroom renovation, ceiling repair, and a new closet installation. I was extremely happy with the work. They were absolutely great to work with. They stayed within projected budgets, were extremely tidy and respectful of being in someone's home. They did a great job cleaning up each day and and completed the work in a timely manner. I would , highly recommend them and will definitely use them again in the future.

Damien worked to repair an unexpected bathroom problem in our rental unit. We wanted to work with contractors as efficiently as possible because we didn’t want our tenant to be without a bathroom any longer than was necessary! Damien took charge of hiring the plumber because we were traveling at the time. He coordinated the work so that there was no lag between his work and the plumbers work, which kept the bathroom useable for a maximum amount of time. Job was done beautifully and he stayed in contact with us so we understood the timeline and what was being done.Also, Damien is a great guy to work with- easy!
