If you are considering Tinker Homes as your builder, do not hesitate and quickly do so! These guys did a fantastic job in a 100% gut job of our 1920s Platt Park home. We worked with an architect to completely redesign the inside of our house in order to maintain the original structure.
The job included major layout changes with significant structural changes. While we were originally introduced to Pat with Tinker through our architect, we did our due diligence and obtained other bids. Other builders felt our architect's design could not be done or provided us with extremely costly bids for the structural work. In the end, Tinker's bid was about the middle of the road in regards to cost and they were willing to stick with our architect's design.
In Tinker's initial bid, they estimated that the work would take about nine months. Just prior to the work starting in November of 2020, they estimated that it would be completed in seven months. In the end, they completed the work from start to punch list in six months, and we moved back into our home in May of 2021!
Throughout the building process, we met with them onsite biweekly to see the progress, discuss the next steps, and were informed of which trades would be coming into the house. We received an email update weekly if not more frequently. They often texted pictures of the progress and were happy to explain and allow us to see every step. Additionally, they were always quick to respond to any messages we sent.
As with most major renovations, there were some inevitable problems and issues. Tinker's team was always quick to respond and address any issues and concerns to make sure things were fixed in the manner that we wanted them to be. Overall, this was an amazing experience for us, which can be rare for people doing a complete remodel of their investment. This was all possible to Tinker and their great team. We cannot highly recommend them enough.
