Today Hopescaping Project Review Summary A promotional video was filmed in our home without permission, ironically promoting Today Hopescaping as the solution to unreliable contractors and cost overruns. In reality, the experience was the opposite—marked by poor planning, unexpected costs, and misleading communication. Project Timeline & Management Issues The project, which started on March 20 with a 6-week estimate, dragged on for 4 months. Promised milestones in late May and early June were repeatedly missed. Dave, the project lead, lacked project management and risk mitigation skills. He frequently made illogical recommendations that workers didn’t understand and began work without full wall removal, leading to inaccurate design assumptions. Design & Planning Failures The initial design contained errors, such as misusing closet space for the bathroom without issuing a correctional change order. Change orders were frequent, confusing, and often inflated. For example, a $1,500 charge to install a light fixture included tasks already part of the main scope. Requests for transparent pricing were dismissed. Deceptive Pricing & High-Pressure Tactics We were pressured to make quick decisions under threat of work delays, often without full information or cost clarity. Change orders were used as a tool for price gouging, with double charges and unexplained costs. In one case, a floating bench added costs and reduced usable space—facts not disclosed until later. Selecting a smart toilet led to sudden change order demands, despite earlier promises of flexibility. Communication Breakdown Dave was unprofessional in his communication, frequently reverting to group texts with my spouse despite my requests to streamline conversations. He attempted to guilt us into paying for unclear charges, claiming workers were waiting—only for the workers themselves to deny such claims. Misleading Scope and Crew Availability Despite promises of a crew, only one worker was assigned—though competent, this was insufficient. When we requested more labor, the response was dismissive, blaming us for delays instead. Materials billing was opaque, often lacking receipts. The billing platform’s 3.6% surcharge was not disclosed upfront. Unethical Practices & Emotional Manipulation Dave reacted angrily to price comparisons and guilted us for seeking second opinions. A third-party designer, reportedly paid by Dave, was presented as an independent resource. Product quotes were incomplete and misleading. Final Straw Dave requested final payment to mark the project “complete” even after the contractor stopped working for him. Numerous issues—like dim lighting and poor installation sequencing—were blamed on us, while delays continued for weeks beyond each stated deadline. Conclusion Today Hopescaping’s service was fraught with delays, poor planning, inflated charges, and emotional manipulation. We strongly advise against using them under any circumstances.

Highly recommended. Dave was responsive & timely, provided excellent design and material selection recommendations, and completed the job on-time and at the price quoted. No BS, and no surprises. Add-ons were items we requested later and were clearly quoted and carved out. End result of reconfiguration and reconstruction of our 2nd floor is a new bedroom, 2 walk in closets, a beautiful mater suite and huge new bathroom.
