I met with many builders before hiring John and we are so very glad we did ! I am a partner of a nationwide Interior architecture and design firm here in Charlotte, so it was never going to be an easy job for any builder to work with my “champagne taste, and a beer pocketbook” as my mother would say! However, John has made it easy ! He is an EXCELLENT builder, who sincerely desires our happiness over every tiny detail. Where other builders may say not possible , he says , no problem, and all while keeping a close watch over our budget. When others hear you are building you will hear nightmare stories about timelines price changes and over runs but I am thrilled to say as we enter the homestretch on our truly detailed custom home this is NOT the case with John, James and his excellant group of subs. I highly recommend John Williams and Williams Custom Homes. It was evident through the process of building our new home that John is not only extremely knowledgeable, but enjoys what he does. When dealing with a project as large, complex, and time consuming as building a house, problems will always arise. It is how John manages through and solves these problems that earns Williams Custom Homes every one of their 5 stars. We are now enjoying our beautiful home that was completed on time and on budget.

When we decided to move to the Charlotte, North Carolina area and build a custom home we interviewed four general contractors. We were living 950 miles away in Wisconsin and it was imperative we find a builder who was trustworthy, could provide us the best value and also had superior communication skills. After reviewing each builder’s previous/current projects and talking with their clients, Williams Custom Homes was the company we selected. Our home project began with the planning phase in October 2014, construction began in August 2015 and the home was completed in September 2016. Throughout this process, the relationship we had with John Williams was excellent. He was great to work with on modifications to the architect’s plans, excellent at solving the many challenges that occur with home construction and always communicated well at every phase of the project. His knowledge of local codes, materials and construction techniques was invaluable. His honesty and integrity is without question. His Superintendent, James Miller also has a superior technical skill set and was responsible for the many outstanding interior trim features in our home. We are very thankful for the quality dream home we are now living in.

John had already built the house when we made the purchase so we cannot comment on the build process. However, John was very responsive during the time between the offer and closing. He went as far as adding features to the house during this time while not knowing if the sale would be final. John has also made a number of trips to the house to ask about his work and modify some things that we identified after moving in.

I purchased a new home in 2013 built by John Williams and have been nothing but pleased with the house and him. Any problems I have had (and there have been very few), were addressed in a timely manner and taken care of. The quality of work is exceptional and his integrity is without question. If I ever choose to build again, I definitely will have John build my house!

John is a very knowledgeable and responsive builder. He has never failed to call us back and he is very good at solving problems. We have build many home and found John to be a delight to work with. He is well respected in the community and has an extensive background in building. We recommend him and would definitely choose him as a builder again.

We moved from California to North Carolina and needed to build a house. We met with three home builders and chose Williams Custom Homes to construct our house based on the great reputation he has in the community and the craftsmanship of the houses he builds. We were in California during the building process and John always kept us up to date with pictures and the progress. We selected Williams Custom Homes after interviewing 11 different builders. We worked directly with John Williams from the get go through final sign off. John has a staff of one not including himself which eliminates a lot of back and forth, he said/she said, you might encounter with larger builders. He listens to you and offers suggestions, most of which we took. He has a group of carefully selected sub-contractors that he keeps in constant touch with and while John does not swing a hammer, he does visit the job site almost everyday to make sure the build is on track and up to his standards. He and James, the Project Manager, have excellent follow up regimens and attention to detail. They have a high degree of integrity and experience. They communicate well and often throughout the build and return phone and text messages promptly. Their professionalism and customer focused attitude made the build process enjoyable. As with any new construction there will be issues that arise, but when they did, we talked through them and agreed upon a plan of action without any squabbling or ill feelings. We have no reservations whatsoever about recommending Williams Custom Homes. As a side note, I rarely give anyone or anything 5 stars, but they have earned it.

J. Williams is an honest builder that was very easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our new home. They were very flexible with the design changes we wanted. The quality and craftsmanship of the home was excellent. We highly recommend this builder! His entire staff was very professional and a pleasure to work with.

Attention to details, attention to his clients and an overall excellent builder. In any project minor things go wrong, but getting things corrected is as simple as a phone call. I would highly recommend John and am willing to give a reference anytime.

First, I want to say that building a home from 660 miles away, can turn out to be difficult if not dissasterous. Finding the right, conscientious builder is the most important asset to making the experience turn out well. John Williams proved to be extremely experienced, easy to work with, and dedicated at building an extremely well built home. John built the home of our dreams for my wife and I. John built our current home and we are extremely pleased with the product. Over the past 35 years we have built 5 houses. John by far was the easiest and most accommodating to work with.
