When we decided to find a new lot that would connect us to the water whether out on the boat or sitting inside paying bills we knew we were going to build a special Home. We wanted a home that brought the outside in, was effortlessly comfortable, visually peaceful, and in which we felt safe from all Mother Nature has proven she’s capable of dishing out! We were looking for a builder with minimum standards they wouldn’t compromise on even if the customer hinted that way. Windward stood out because they spent more time diving into what we like, who we are and how we live. We designed an entirely new home for the specific lot and view vantage points. The experience was consistent from initial consultations and design, through selections, and through decisions in the field. 100% of Windward staff is focused on ensuring every detail is furthering the goals we set out with them at the beginning. At every stage they stood firm on things and explained why, or they suggested tweaks - again with the reasons it moved us closer to our ultimate goal of effortless comfort. Finally, a construction company with integrity. Excellent, custom home floor plans! We were very pleased with the quality of the workmanship. The owner and staff were professional during the whole building process. They just didn't build us a house; they built us a home.

This is our story: We became snowbirds and decided to build in Cape Coral. At first, the task seemed ominous not because he hadn’t built before (this would be our fifth time), but because we had no connections to the area. We went to all of the open houses, however as soon as we walked into the Windward Home model we knew immediately we found the right one because as soon as we walked through the front door it felt like home. On our initial walk through of the model we not only met Michelle who is one of their designers/sales persons, but also Brian the owner of the company who was very reassuring and spoke of his commitment to quality, which we could easily see. My husband who is extremely meticulous was impressed with their finished carpentry details and overall thoughtfulness of floor plan. Once the process was started Michelle was extremely helpful in tweaking the home layout to fit our needs. She and the rest of the team were creative in maximizing and utilizing space while maintaining the open flow of the house. She was very insightful regarding home choices such as tile, plumbing and lighting fixtures, pool/spa and other important building materials. After we broke ground, Windward kept us up to date and engaged as they have a project manager on site virtually everyday, along with using an app for uploading pictures of the process, which was especially helpful because we were still commuting from Wisconsin during a portion of the build. Throughout the project, there weren’t any surprises regarding costs as they adhered to budget and while choices, owner additions and challenges (as we know from past experiences) always occur when building, they have a very sound and detailed change order process and any changes and/or challenges were handled quickly and to our expectations. More importantly, with all their expertise they build a beautiful house. Everyone at Windward was helpful and they were all willing to spend as much time with us as we needed and took time to explain any details that we (coming from Wisconsin) were unaware of regarding Florida building codes, materials and practices. They were truly a joy to work with and because we’ve developed a wonderful and enduring attachment to them for building our forever home, we stop into their office once in a while just to say hello. Along story short, the house is fabulous and well worth the wait!

We have so much to say about our experience with Windward Construction, especially after hearing from friends about their experiences with other local builders. We had been warned to watch out for cost-cutting and corner-cutting, for delays, and for lots of problems. I am so happy to say that our experience couldn’t have been more different. We “interviewed” many other building companies, but from the moment we met with our team, we felt comfortable and excited about the process of building our dream home. We met initially with the sales team, Cynthia and Michelle, who showed us the options offered by Windward at the various price points. We had very specific hopes and ideas for our home, so they helped us find the floor plan that best suited our needs, and then the design team of Michelle and Jennifer (along with Brian, the owner), helped us “tweak” the plans, giving us our dream home! The team was super-conscious about keeping us in budget, and they helped us make choices that balanced design and value, but still made sure we got what we wanted and were satisfied with our plans before breaking ground. When we were ready to build, David (our project manager) gave us frequent updates both in-person on the job site and via a convenient app. The team shepherded us through meetings with various contractors, allowing us to customize our tile, pool design, cabinetry, etc down to the smallest detail. As always happens, we hit some unanticipated snags, but the Windward Team handled each hiccup with grace and respect for our time and money. The finished product is everything we asked for: quality design, solid construction with attention to detail, and incredible value. We’ve been in our new home for about a month now, and we couldn’t be happier. It is everything we wanted, and MORE!
