Pairing with the compatible builder makes all the difference in the result. Every step in the process was was thorough, guided, thoughtfully rendered by Rick, his talented team and their subs! Their accessibility made communication easy and if/when inevitable snags came up, together we worked through them. I cannot stress enough their work ethic in making our project come to fruition in a timely, fun and successful way!

My wife and I hired Buchanan Construction to build our dream home in the mountains of western NC. After interviewing a number of builders, it was obvious that Rick and his team "get it" and were committed to building with high quality and within our budget. As with any major project, there were some changes along the way. The response of the entire team, from Rick to Jason, Jeff, and Jennifer, was outstanding. They invested time to understand our wants and needs and designed and built an absolutely beautiful home. Our friends and neighbors have all commented on the attention to detail and overall craftmanship Rick put into the home. There are a lot of builders out there, and I suggest interviewing multiple builders as part of your process. Cream rises to the top. We are extremely satisfied with the build process, as well as the follow up for any punchlist items.

We are living in our home for two years next month and I thought that it was a good time to review our builder Buchannan Construction again. We worked with Alice Dodson AIA in Weaverville, NC to design the house and used Medlock and Associates as our engineer. At about 70% complete drawings we contacted Buchanan Construction to bid on our project. Right away, we were impressed by the professionalism of this company. In several meetings Rick and his crew value engineered 10% of the cost out of the building without changing the look or the quality of the project. Contracting and billing was straight AIA standard forms. Construction started on time. We had a great superintendent assigned to us. Since we had excellent drawings, there were very few change orders. The only changes were due to us making minor changes in finishes. Talk about finishes: Buchanan has an in-house interior designer. She helped us with a multitude of detail decision during the course of the construction. We were very happy with the sub-contractors Buchannan send to the job. One small thing can make a big difference. Buchanan’s workers showed up every Morning in clean work cloth. That was impressive. When the building was completed, and the final accounting was done we are happy to report that we stayed 100% within budget. Now, two years later we are still very happy with our home. Everything works as advertised. If I had to build another house in this area, I would not hesitate to have Buchanan Construction do the work again.

Buchanan Construction completely fulfilled our wishes for our retirement home! Their attention to detail, knowledge and professionalism went above and beyond what we expected. It was a great experience working with this builder. The company personnel were helpful from architectural modifications through construction planning and adaptations. We found the project manager to be very responsive, patient and knowledgeable. At no time did they make promises that were not fulfilled. We are very pleased especially since post construction fine tuning was minimal. We made a good choice.

Buchanan is a great builder. The best, actually. Our project was completed on time and very close to budget. And they never flinched at our many “outside the box” request. They truly are custom. All of their vendor recommendations were spot on. When we mentioned Buchanan was our builder vendors always brought out their best. And all of the vendors used were up to date on all new technology and products. Five stars across the board.

Rick and his team helped us build our DREAM HOME and we couldn't be happier with it! From budget-planning meetings to move-in day, everyone at Buchanan Construction made sure that the entire building process went as smoothly as possible. The communication was EXCELLENT throughout the entire project and the attention to detail was TOP NOTCH - if it wasn't perfect, it wasn't good enough.
