About Us
Celtic Works brings something different to the construction experience in the Columbia, Chapin and Lexington area of South Carolina. Quality, and attention normally only found in building large large custom homes, is now available for most peoples budget. Celtic Works over the years has secured a reputation, in the area, as a quality, affordable and fair builder in the area of new construction and remodel and additions. In a market that is saturated with "builders" with only two options; cheap or well built, this is quite an accomplishment! Now, with a small team of extraordinary people behind them, they continue to build a reputable name for themselves, and to provide something better, a third option; affordable quality.

Having worked with David and his team, it is easy to see why they have earned a reputation as one of the top builders in the Midlands. We have been very impressed with their interactions with our team and with their clients. They are always very respectful of everyone involved and their integrity continues to impress us. In an industry, where that is not always the case, it is refreshing to work with a builder that puts their clients and partners first.

We could not have been more pleased with Celtic Works! After recovering from the flood of 2015, we were eager to find a contractor who would work with us - our personalities, our budget, and our tastes to renovate and add to our 170 year old home. We were looking for a company that had the skills and talents to "marry" the old and the new. Our expectations were clearly met and exceeded. Celtic Works, lead by our project manger Chris Steyne, paid attention to every little detail making sure things were done just right. They allowed us to make adjustments along the way to ensure we were pleased as well as making suggestions that would enhance the value of our home. They were flexible in the vendors we used, offering specific suggestions for places and people with whom they had previous success. We were able to re-purpose fixtures and other aspects of the original space
(beams, built in cabinets, doors, etc.) where possible, as well as purchasing our own when it made sense. The craftsmanship in the trim work and cabinets is beyond compare. You cannot tell what is old and new which is just what we wanted. Chris and his team were always cheerful and gracious respecting our home as if it were theirs. Celtic Works is your go to contractor regardless of the type or scope of work you wish to accomplish. We are now enjoying the fruits of their labor but almost feel as though we are missing a good friend since we no longer see these guys every day.

Celtic Works was great to work with. From the moment we met Dave, we knew we had found the right builder. Dave and Aaron walked us through the project and helped us revamp our original architectural drawing of our dream home. We had a budget and they were supportive and very helpful in ways to cut costs but keep quality. At times, we thought Aaron could read our minds because we would leave a meeting and meet again and they presented exactly what we wanted in our house plan changes.
We lost our home in the October 2015 flood and wanted to rebuild but didn't want to use just anyone. Walker McKay referred us to Celtic Works and we were fortunate that they had the time to give us. We wanted to rebuild on our same lot. We knew the process wouldn't be easy and had already been through a builder that wasn't a good fit. The process of building in a flood zone was difficult but Celtic Works worked with all parties to help us build exactly what we wanted.
Chris Steyne was our project manager. I don't know if I have ever met anyone that pays attention to detail like he does. He takes the project and makes it his own. It felt like he was building his own house the way he managed each and every step. He tripled checked every step. We were truly amazed at his abilities. I think my husband, Jason drove him nuts at times, but he was always there and very attentive. Chris talked me off the ledge several times with decisions I had made (were they good, would this work?, etc). He was honest and his opinion about different changes and designs were always spot on with ours.
The building process is not an easy one. I had heard from friends and read that new construction can drive you crazy. Celtic Works had us pick out all of the major things beforehand so we were ready and had a pretty firm budget. It was really stressful picking everything out but in the end, it worked out beautifully. Most of their sub contractors and companies they work with were super helpful. The process was smooth because we had decided on brick, siding, windows, floors, cabinets, counter tops, tile, lighting, kitchen appliances, etc beforehand. It was rare that we received a call about a decision that needed to be made immediately because we had already made it.
I really can't say enough about Celtic Works. Walker told us a few weeks ago, that once a Celtic Works client, always a client and that you would be in the family forever!
If you are reading this in hopes of making a decision, then pick Celtic Works! If I ever have another new build (don't plan on doing it, but.....) or a renovation, I wouldn't think twice about calling Celtic Works to do the job!

We loved our home. We like the space, we liked the location and then the flood of 2015 hit us and hit us hard. We had over 4 feet of water in our home. In the end we decided to tear our home down. We started with a construction company that couldn't seem to remember requests or meet our demands. So even though we wanted to go home again, we took a pause. We interviewed three custom home builders. By far and away Celtic stood out from the pack. Of all of them, they were the only builders who came to us with plans to get the job done. We had a plan for us and a plan for them. And they adjusted the plan to fit into our budget. It made the process easy.
Then the home building began. Am I am not sure I can describe how easy it was. We worked directly with Chris Stine and he was great.
In the end, Celtic took a tragedy and made it into a success. No surprises. No late night calls to make a big decision by the morning. And things went wrong, as they do in all houses, Celtic made it easy to correct and move forward.
The best thing we can say is they made a painful process painless.
Thank you Celtic Works and thank you to Chris and Aaron.

Celtic Works made the home buying experience easy for us. They offered helpful insight and knowledge from building custom homes and helped my husband and I really make our home our own. We have lived in our house for 3 years now and love it just as much as the day we moved in. My husband is a real estate agent, so we look at houses all the time and we have yet to find something we like more than ours. Celtic Works really sets themselves apart as a builder. Moving forward I won't buy from anyone else!

My wife and I purchased our Celtic Works home about 3 years ago, and we still walk around amazed that it's our house. The craftsmanship and attention to detail that Celtic Works provides is unlike any other. As mentioned above, it's been 3 years since we purchased the home and we still call our builder for questions and recommendations when we need something and they are always quick to respond and help us. Honestly, I have nothing but great things to say about a company who prides themselves in great quality work, helping and caring for people, and providing for the community. We recommend Celtic Works to anyone looking to buy or build a house!

Prior to hiring Celtic Works for a ground up build, they met at the lot to ascertain existing conditions. From the start, they were extremely helpful in the planning phase and offered suggestions with everything from grading, materials, layout, windows, colors. Not one time did they complain when the soffit stain samples didn't come out the way we, the clients, expected. When there was a decision to be made, they provided timely notices to keep the project on track and help focus our decisions. Delivered the home on a realistic timeframe with almost nonexistent punch-list. Communication was excellent, hope to work with them again.

Bought a house Celtic had built.
I purchased a home that Celtic Works built. The craftsmanship is absolutely phenomenal!!! They were extremely accommodating at making changes that were in reason. No stone was left un-turned right down to the Operation and Maintenance manual given to me at the end of the project. After one year in the house, they came back to make sure doors were still shutting correctly, etc. They were checking for anything that may have occurred during first year due to the house settling. An amazing group of people to work with. Would recommend them without hesitation.

Celtic Works was great to work with! Normally spec homes are kinda boring and not good quality, but their spec home was like none other that I've seen. It had a lot of quality in all the right places! Love our new home from them

Always gracious, thoughtful, thorough- with transparent financial documentation to guide us along our path. Cheryl says her fondest memory was coming home to find one of the craftsman working on a section of the project, delighted to share what they were doing and how proud they were of their work. Kudos and many thanks to the fine professionals at Celtic Works!
