As a designer for the past 20 years I've worked with a lot of contractors. HIGHCO Builders has definitely been one of the nicer experiences. Jeremy High has been a true pleasure to work with. From the very beginning he was professional, knowledgeable, and attentive. By the end of the project he was still all those things and had shown a high level of patience and understanding of wanted and needed changes. We worked with Jeremy/HIGHCO over the past year on an extensive renovation of our home in Pacific Grove and couldn't be happier with the outcome. Our project involved a little of everything: foundation/structural work, reworking floorplans, moving bathrooms and kitchens, adding a front porch addition, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, insulation, new windows, plaster, siding, stucco, exterior paint, etc. Knowing it'd be a massive undertaking, we spent a lot of time doing our homework, evaluating a number of general contractors. HIGHCO came highly recommended by some friends of ours. In my initial conversation with Jeremy, he zero'd in on our priorities and asked all the right questions. Even in that first meeting, he was immensely helpful in refining our vision in a practical way. Throughout the entire project, the communication with Jeremy and his team was fantastic. He kept us updated at every step and was always available and responsive. With any project of this size, there are going to be numerous twists and turns, and I don't think I've ever worked with a contractor who was better at brainstorming and suggesting practical solutions. We're very happy with the quality of the work. From the craftsmanship to the materials they used, every detail was done with care. It's clear they take pride in their work and it was really refreshing to work with folks that don't cut corners. Value-wise, we definitely felt like we got what we paid for. We really appreciated their flexibility -- Jeremy was excellent with making adjustments to meet our budget at various points along the way. Overall, great experience. We had the opportunity of working with HIGHCO Builders to enlarge and update our Monterey cottage. We enjoyed our conversations with HIGHCO and the planning that went into this experience. From the moment we began discussing our vision and hopes we were met with professionalism and a listening ear to turn the home we loved into what we envisioned it could be. HIGHCO Builders understood that our desire was to add a master bath/closet, update and transform the interior of the other rooms, all while keeping the 1930s charm and character that we love so much. Throughout the project, HIGHCO Builders demonstrated attention to detail. Their team, led by Jeremy High, planned every aspect of the construction process. Most importantly, we can say that Jeremy is an excellent problem solver. Multiple times he listened to our wishes and researched and brainstormed ways to make it happen. In many cases, more than one option was presented to us. We were living out of the area during the remodel and Jeremy communicated with us through Zoom, phone calls, texts, and a Google Drive that housed pictures, budget information, and other documents. One of the standout moments for us is when we were able to host our first get together, for all our friends. Jeremy and his wife were in attendance, and it was wonderful for us to see everyone’s reactions to the beautiful transformation, but more importantly to see Jeremy receive their praise.
