Our first experience with new build construction was handled by Mike Maher Construction. We'd asked for referrals from our soon to be neighbors and, to a person who had had their homes built by them, they unequivocally raved about them. Our experience would be an interesting and potentially disastrous one. We were in New Jersey making decisions regarding our build in North Carolina. Fortunately, with Mike and Jane's handholding throughout the process the outcome was, in our opinion, a great success. Actually, we were happily surprised with some of the finishes installed. For example the coffered ceilings in our dining and library rooms as well as the luxurious moldings throughout the house, The above would have been enough for us to give Mike Maher Construction the five stars they so deserve, but beyond the solid construction and attention to detail as the house was being built Mike made sure that all the contractors were available to handle issues well beyond the basic one year guarantees that each offered. Gary and I have been thrilled with our new home. We do not know enough positive words to describe how we feel about the efforts of Mike, Jane, Debbie and Judy as they led us through our adventure over the past two years; from the purchase of the property, and the house design process, to its completion. Our house is TRULY a custom home, as our son designed it from nothing more than our dreams; and Mike and his staff took every step and change we threw at them with calm professionalism, offering suggestions and guidance. Jane, was exceptional in her calm manner and attention to detail as she took us under her wing for a week of selecting all of the paint, siding, fixtures, etc. Debbie and Judy were always responsive to our calls, (and there were many), and passed our requests and questions expeditiously and accurately to Mike and Jane. We interviewed two contractors over a period of two months. The quality of construction we inspected, as we went through each of their houses under various stages of construction, was excellent. However, it was the excitement and passion Mike expressed as he explained his projects and the reasons for his process; and the teamwork mentality we heard from Jane helped to make our choice of builder. We are really looking forward to entertaining family and friends in our new home.

Mike has always been professional, providing us high quality products and work. He is also very approachable. We made many changes to our plans and even turned the house on our lot! He took all this in stride. He is also responsive when we have questions or want pictures! We feel he is our partner in building our dream home for our retirement. Being able to work with Jane Maher has been amazing. She guided us to excellent vendors (appliances, flooring, paint, lights, etc. etc.) in the New Bern area. We have been extremely pleased with their products and customer service. Jane is very skilled at picturing design of rooms, telling us when something won't work, and communicating in a way we understand. She invited us into her world of design and structure....and we are so pleased! My husband and I live hundreds of miles away from New Bern. We haven't had to worry about whether or not our appliances, flooring, cabinets, etc. etc. came in (sometimes a little dicey in the pandemic environment). She's kept us up-to-date on progress. We haven't felt the need to travel to New Bern and see how things are going. We know Mike and Jane will keep us informed. This kind of trust is priceless. We are blessed to be partnering with Mike Maher Construction.

We love everything about our house. Mike & Jane and their office staff made the entire custom home building process a wonderful and rewarding experience. Mike gave his personal attention to every detail during construction, and he partners with excellent trade contractors, resulting in top notch quality. His wife, Jane, accompanied us to the showrooms, guiding us through our custom selections. She has a great decorating eye and made what could have been an over-whelming experience, very enjoyable and exciting. Before interviewing Mike, we had not yet found a floor plan we liked. Jane helped us to find the perfect plan! Building a custom home should be fun and rewarding ... Mike and Jane and their staff have got their processes down to a science to ensure that is the case. It has been just two months since we moved into our Mike Maher Custom Home and we could not be happier with our new home. Mike, Jane and their staff were extremely helpful during the process listening to our needs and wants and making suggestions as we went through the planning and building phases. No detail was overlooked right down to the dimensions of the molding and swing of the doors. Jane worked closely with us through the selection process keeping track of every detail making sure it fit together when completed. Mike's professionalism, building expertise and project management worked to ensure that our home was built right, on time and on budget. He manages his sub contractor so that no time is lost causing delays. We are now working on the punch list, which is minimal, and the vendors are quick to respond and repair the minor items quickly. This is the fifth home my wife and I have built during the past 30 years and we now know what a truly exceptional home building experience is.

Never having built a home before, Mike & Jane along with Judy and Debbie talked us through the process. Once we decided to hire Mike's firm they were very helpful in every step of the way. Although at times we seemed to be overwhelmed, picking counter tops, tiles, paint colours etc., Mike & Jane were there for support and assurances. We are very pleased with the quality of work done on the finished product and would use them again.

We instantly had a great rapport with Mike and a Jane, and now our gorgeous, solid-as-a-rock, high-quality new home is a reflection of why we chose Mike Maher Construction. Mike truly cares as much about the creation and construction of our home as we do. At every turn he ensured the highest quality work and materials went into our build, and his creative, best-use-of-space, solutions-oriented ideas during the build added unique, functional and appealing attributes. Mike made an impressive effort early-on to understand our styles, interests, preferences, etc., so he could enhance the home's appearance and layout at every turn. We threw him some curves in creative spaces, and he soared to exceed our expectations. Even after we have moved in, Mike continues to ensure every inch of our home is absolutely perfect.
