About Us

Sterling Associates, LLC is managed by two dedicated owners who take a personal interest in the construction or renovation of your home from start to finish. Eric Salvesen and his father, Jerry established Sterling Associates in 1996. Jerry's work experience constructing high end commercial recording studios, along with Eric's project management skills form the foundation of this highly reputable company. The office is located in Newtown, CT where Eric currently resides with his family. Jerry lives in Mahopac, NY with his wife. Their extensive construction knowledge and personal guarantees set them apart from others. Sterling Associates owns its own fleet of vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment enabling them to perform all facets of construction from excavation and framing, to siding and trim work. You can find them on the job throughout the entire duration of the project and are available 24 hours a day via cell phones, e-mail, and an office answering service. Sterling Associates is fully licensed and insured. With its qualified staff, it encompasses over 50 years of professional experience.

Eric and Gerry completed a total makeover of our home including all new windows, doors, siding and converting a 3 season room into a family room. They and their crew are courteous, respectful and kept the premises clean and neat. They managed to incorporate numerous change orders and made many suggestions on how we could further improve our home during the renovations. We highly recommend Sterling Associates and their team and have made numerous referrals who have also hired them for their construction projects, all with the same opinion after the job was completed.

Eric Salvesen of Sterling Associates was recommended to me by long time friends who are very knowledgeable and discerning in regard to home construction, design and decorating. At the time, I was considering the purchase of a lake front house that needs a gut renovation. I needed some idea what the cost of the renovation would be and an assessment of the structure itself. I wanted be sure that the cost of the purchase plus the renovation would not exceed the approximate market value. Eric and I met at the site and he prepared a thorough "budget estimate" which enabled me to make the decision to proceed with the purchase. Eric did this with the knowledge that we were not at the formal bid or proposal phase of the project. That is actually in progress as I write this review. Based on my experience and that of friends that have used Sterling associates on several separate projects, I recommend them without hesitation.

We are pleased to be asked to Rate Sterling Associates LLC as a general contractor. They performed a major renovation for us. It involved total removal of the second floor, including 4 bedrooms, total renovation of the kitchen bathrooms and increased living area on the first floor. Sterling was a joy to deal with in all aspects including design, building, and completion which took about 7 months. The craftsmanship was excellent and the work was performed in a timely manner. We had a variety of things done to our home. We raised the roofline, converted an old garage into a great room, new kitchen, new patio, all new windows, new siding, new garage built, added a 4th bedroom, new flooring in several rooms, etc. It was a large job, and I thought Sterling did a great job completing the job in a timely manner. In fact, the job was done a few weeks ahead of schedule. The subs were there EVERY day in the winter, working in unpleasant conditions just to complete the foundation of the new square footage. The project started right after we received about 2 feet of snow, and it was SO cold outside. Yet the subs were there everyday!! Sterling has lengthy experience, and you could tell when every next step of each job at our home was timed so well. No surprises. We even managed to live in our home during all the upheaval. We were very pleased with the outcome of our home. We absolutely recommend Sterling Associates.

We highly recommend Eric Salvesen and Sterling Associates. He was able to transform our ranch into a stunning two story Nantucket-style colonial. He took our architect's plans and transformed them into a finished house where no details were spared inside or out. Our budget was stuck to well within reason and his timeline was better than expected. Our total rebuild was completed in 6 months!!! All of the contractors worked seamlessly together, often times in unison (which is somewhat unheard of) to produce a finished product that we are very proud to call our new home. The pictures below show the bore, during and after.

Eric and Jerry did a large addition and renovation to our home. They were a pleasure to work with and the quality of the their work was excellent. Their pricing was very fair and their work was completed on time. I would recommend them to anyone. Five years after our project, they are still the people that I go to if we need something done in our home.
