AB Design Elements is a residential interior architecture and design firm specializing in fine custom homes, remodels over 500k, and furnishings. We are a team focused on transforming homes and lifestyles through seriously beautiful design and we value client relationships, creative thinking, the importance of details, the power of positive thinking and the beauty of simple elegant design!
We are proud to have earned dozens of design awards including (16) first place ASID Design Excellence awards and 'Best of Show'. Our projects are frequently featured in design magazines. Amy Klosterman has been named a 'Master of the Southwest 'award winner , a 'Dynamic Designer 2022' by Iconic Magazine, as well as one of 'Arizona's Most Inspiring Women' by Phoenix Home and Garden Magazine. Amy and her team continue to strive for excellence in customer contentment and unique ways to deliver beautiful and functional design for interior spaces.
Interior architecture and design is more than interior decorating. Interior architectural projects can encompass a full renovation with plans and specifications that detail the relocation of walls, lighting, electrical, kitchen and bath layouts, and additional square footage, as well as coordination during the construction phase. We also work on custom new builds, which require comprehensive drawing and spec packages and close coordination with the architect, client, and builder to preserve the design intent while staying within budget and schedule constraints.
The furnishings, art and accessories complete interior spaces and are integral to the style, 'feel' and functionality. Interior design is a fusion of balanced (and beautiful) design elements, a collaborative process and the realities of budget.
It is architecture for the interior.
We most often work on a flat fee basis based on your scope of work and square footage. We would love to hear about your project and discuss process and fees based on your project specifics!

Amy and Michelle are exceptional at what they do. Our house flooded and we wanted to take the opportunity to change from our Tuscan-style home to something completely different. With their guidance our house has been transformed to a beautiful, more bright and open home. They helped with every aspect and really took the time to listen to what we were thinking with these changes. From changes to the structure of the home to picking out furniture, we are so happy with what they did to transform our beautiful new home.

AB Design Elements were the perfect choice for our custom home build. We were looking for a team of true collaborators to help with interior design of the home which included everything from the elevations of cabinets, room designs, hardware, furniture plans for interior as well as exterior, furniture materials and fabrics, paint selection and the full vision we had in mind. Amy, Michelle and Grace skillfully guided us through what seemed like thousands of decisions to insure a beautiful outcome that took our families individual needs in mind. They truly listened and helped us think outside the box. We would recommend and work with them again on any future projects.

We worked with Amy and her team to design a kitchen and bar remodel, flooring and furniture. We thought we knew what we wanted to do, but working with Amy really helped us to be more thoughtful around our selections. Amy does a spectacular job balancing modern, timeless, and functional. We could not be happier with the remodel! It is absolutely stunning! She was also very helpful in providing referrals for a general contractor, and helping us to pick out lighting, plumbing fixtures, appliances, flooring, in addition to cabinetry selection. Amy also is knowledgeable about those functional "little" details that make a stunning kitchen and bar worthy of the best cooks. She is flexible in her thinking, but also not afraid to share her view which I love. And to bring this all together, Amy and team helped us with new furniture that is elegant but comfortable. Overall, FANTASTIC!

My wife Lisa and I just finished a 1-year remodel with Amy from AB Design Elements, LLC, and La Casa Builders. When we were planning on this remodel with Tim Larson from La Casa Builders, we asked him for a recommendation for someone to help us with the interiors and design of the house. Tim recommended Amy to us, and we asked her for a proposal. This was one of the best things that happened on this project as Amy was an absolute joy to work with! Amy and her firm produced an unbelievable design that totally suits our lifestyle and what we like. Amy helped with the minor floor plan changes for the builder, and picked all the materials including plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, cabinets, tile, wood flooring and all new furnishings. When the house was finished, Amy had all the furniture delivered to the house so Amy and her team could place everything and to decorate with everything she had selected, purchased, and had custom made for us was an unbelievable experience for Lisa and me. It was like walking into a model home that was decorated just perfectly, perfect colors, perfect fabrics and everything was just well, perfect in our eyes down to the sheets and bathroom accessories.
We have had nothing but great experiences with Amy. Amy and her team are always available to help through issues, design selections, and do this quickly and efficiently with ease. Amy has many talents, and besides her exceptional eye for design choices, she is very professional, talented, a pleasure to work with and has this understated grace and elegance to her.
Lisa and I could not be happier and would use Amy again in a heartbeat.

Having worked with Amy on a major home remodel in the past, we didn't hesitate to reach out to her when we decided to build our new home. Amy's involvement both from an architectural and design perspective made all of the difference in creating a home for us that we love. We love not only the way our home looks but also the way it feels. Amy took great care to consider our comfort and life style in making design and furnishing decisions.
Amy is organized, efficient and professional. Her partnership with our builder was successful and appreciated by all involved. As he said to me, "she made my job easy to accommodate special requests for your home because she handed me the architectural design request on a silver platter". The builder was then able to take Amy's technically accurate drawings to the trades involved to work on how to make the vision a reality.

We did a top to bottom interior painting and 100% replacement of furniture, carpets and bedding in our cottage and Amy's team was outstanding from start to finish. This project offered some 'unique' challenges as our home is located on an island in the state of Maine and we were committed also to use available island contractors.
Amy was very good at understanding the fabrics and style we like but also at pushing us gently into expanding our style and taking some risk. Those 'risks' turned into great results and we proudly show visitors what 'we picked out' :).
Two additional traits we want to share about Amy are she is unflappable and she has the wonderful skill of being able to talk to anyone and build a trust and comfort with them. Fun to see brusque, loud island contractors quickly warm up to Amy and become amenable to changes on the spot.
Finally, Amy was able to quickly source local companies for storage and fabrication as needed and coordinate movement of all to the island.

Attached is a photo of one of the most amazing projects that we worked on with Amy. That is a master bath of your dreams! All hand painted and hand applied finishes, from the mica encrusted accent wall, the pearlescent plastered vanity wall and the handpainted soft metallic bathtub. The fireplace accent wall was another beautiful "canvas" to create upon, we created a one of a kind finish for her project to serve as a backdrop for the custom glass art piece.

I am a retired Interior Designer, when my husband and I we decided to do a project in Scottsdale, I wanted to enjoy the project and hire a designer that could also do all of the architectural drawings, etc..
I interviewed 3 design companies and hired AB Designs, it was Obvious Amy could not only create the designsI was looking for, but keep the project organize and on schedule.
It has been incredible working with Amy and her team. I recommend her to anyone I know looking for Design assistance.

When we began our project I knew generally what I wanted, but I couldn’t quite articulate my vision. Amy took off with my vague “desert glam” ideas and focused them with her masterful skills and artistry. The end result is stunning and sophisticated, yet fun and unique. I love that our home has become a destination for our friends and family that we can be proud to share.
The design process was fun and exciting, and made easy for us especially since we reside primarily out of state. Her clear and concise ideas came alive through her power point presentation of finishes, room-by-room. Each step of the way was easy and there were no surprises. The first time I arrived to our newly remodeled home when the finishing touches were being put into place, I cried - joyfully! My husband and I hand-chose Amy to assist us with re-designing our master suite, reworking our kitchen lighting and sitting room, creating an addition that overlooks the McDowell mountain preserve and refurnishing additional areas in our home. Amy’s talent in sketching layouts, mastering spaces and removing boundaries to create ambience and flow is unparalleled. My expectations when I hired Amy were lofty, since she came highly recommended from our friends. She did not disappoint! Whenever I have talked to other designers in the past, they seemed either too eager to please (“yes, sure, we can do whatever you want”) or too set in their ways (“no, this HAS to be this way, or else it won’t look good”). Amy was the one designer I felt comfortable with because she is right in the middle: she took my ideas and goals into account, but she still provided the guidance and expertise I needed to make my space look beautiful and pulled together. Amy was so patient with me! I came with a lot of ideas, and she listened carefully. I wanted a space that was casually elegant yet at the same time comfortable, colorful, fun, and functional for our family of four. We hired Amy to furnish our foyer, large living room, and dining room. Coming from New York, we were used to a much smaller scale, and we were wowed by the high ceilings and romantic Spanish architecture of our new house in Paradise Valley. I wanted the space to feel fresh, modern, and bright, but I insisted on respecting that Spanish character. Amy helped me achieve just that - she has an expert eye for color, dimension, texture, and everything else to consider in design. Now the interior of the house seems to blend seamlessly with the exterior. We love how the space looks and feels, and what’s best, we actually use it all the time. And here is what I liked best about working with Amy: not only is she very professional and good at what she does, she is also a kind person — so friendly, so sweet, so happy — in short, a true pleasure to work with.

We are retiring here in Arizona and bought our first new home. Having to furnish and decorate a completely empty house was a daunting task for us. We turned to AB Design. They made the whole experience fun and enjoyable. Being an Arizona home, we wanted a totally new design style, one that fit in with the Southwest. They worked with us to come up with a style that is contemporary and fresh. The end results fit us perfectly, and all within budget.
We also appreciated that they took time to understand our tastes and design needs for our new home. They explained the design process and pricing at the onset. For most of the process we were in California. That posed no problem. They were prompt with their communications and went the extra mile. Amy is a true design professional and fun to work with!
Her “assistant” Michelle is equally great to work with,
got back with us on questions and requests very promptly and all with a positive attitude.

My husband and I hired Amy to do a master bathroom remodal. We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of our project! We started the process by collecting pictures of master bathrooms we liked and elements that we wanted to see in our bath. We met with Amy and she was able to help us define the style and look most appropriate for our Santa Fe style home. Amy has a wonderful sense of style and was able to translate her ideas into beautiful plans with tangible finishes. We worked with Amy and Michelle to decorate and design our new home in AZ. We started with bare walls and they did a great job of designing cabinets and shelfs in a difficult space. They had lots of resources and artisans to make this unique to us and beautiful as well as functional.

We hired Amy and Michelle to decorate our vacation home 2 1/2 years ago. We were living on the East coast, and anticipated the distance to be a challenge. Well, they were a pleasure to work with! If samples needed approval, they sent them. If we were in town, they made time to come over for decision making. But most importantly, the rooms they designed for us turned out beautiful! We challenged them to stay on our budget, which they did as well. Amy is very quick to come up with clever ideas, as she has an uncanny ability to visualize what will work in the space. We are now moving into a larger home in Scottsdale, and look forward to them making this home as beautiful as the last.

Amy helped us redesign our kitchen and we plan to have her design the rest of our house. She is extremely professional, organized and efficient. Her ability to plan strategically is second to none. Additionally, she's very talented, thinks outside the box and offers options I could not have come up with on my own. She's incredibly creative with an eye for details. Perhaps, what I appreciate most is Amy's ability to ask all the right questions, listen so intently and pinpoint your style. She follows through with everything she says she will do and you can always count on her! You can shop with her or you can't go wrong having her pick out options to present to you that are exactly what you are looking for in color and style. Quite frankly, she kept our entire project on schedule and organized, from working with the contractor, selecting colors, fixtures, appliances, plumbing and more. She is the person responsible for our stress free remodel. It's been very comforting having her work with us. She truly went above and beyond. I highly recommend Amy and we can't wait to have her remodel the rest of our house after the holidays.

Our first project with Amy started in December 2014. Amy and her teams professionalism and abilities has exceeded our expectations every single time. Amy has the unique ability to articulate our ideas into amazing designs for our home, in fact she managed to bring our personalities to life in her designs so much so (it might sounds silly) but it brought me to tears.

Carol and Martin, thanks so much. you two are so fun and we love your openness to artful funky design. when we finish this next area we are working on we'll get some professional photos of the various areas and post them here on Houzz. In the meantime here's that night shot of the lighting in the front living room, and some of the finishes we had done in that area.
We have been working with Amy Bubier for the last six years. We started out with needing to furnish and decorate an entire home. This later evolved into a complete redesign and remodel of the same home. When we began our remodel, Amy's talent, vision and creativity were what provided us with the security that we would love every last detail in our home once completed. We are nearing end of this enormous project, and we truly could not have survived this renovation without her vision and detail oriented skills. She always works with a smile, even when the outcome of one detail is not met to her standards :) She is patient, positive and thinks outside the box which is most helpful when renovating a home built in the 50's! We can't wait for the final results of this transformation, and we will keep working with Amy until the last pillow has been fluffed!

I was referred to AB Design (Amy) several years ago. We began working together on a kitchen remodel that continued into renovating multiple bath areas and general updating of the decor.
Amy and her team have been wonderful to work with. They are respectful of timelines, budgets and owner's wishes. They provided artistic input and helped me overcome my inability to make decisions - exactly what I needed.

AB Design Elements is a great design company to work with. I saw a room that Amy the owner designed and immediately reached out to her by email in 2011. I was surprised but happy that she responded. Amy is an award-winning and very busy designer but she found the time to send me fabric samples, designs and ideas (I live in New Jersey, Amy is in Arizona) and never once made me feel that what I wanted was not worth her while as a designer. I now have a lovely nook in my living room that always gets compliments for the easy chair, pillows, lamp and accent table that I got through Amy. I recently worked with Amy to get pillows for a sofa, and just like the first time, the results are wonderful. Amy does a ball pillow that is fabulous and amazing; you could give it by itself as a gift. It is not just a big old round pillow, it is beautifully made and shaped. Sometimes it seems that the interior decorating and design world exists only for the very wealthy, so it is really nice when a company like AB Design Elements doesn't think your project is not important.

We worked together from the beginning of the print stage all the way to completion. Amy was great to work with and gave me many options and price points for all the major items. She was very good at keeping within the budget and always gave me very constructive suggestions. All the furnishings were completed the day the house was completed. I think I only had to wait on a few specialty candles. I appreciated her professionalism and now have a fabulous finished home, thanks to her! I cannot thank her enough.

Amy stands out at the top of my very short list of designers that are a delight to work with. While creating outstanding design for the client, she also accurately communicates the design with detailed specifications and drawings. Very few interior designers are effective in one of those aspects and yet she accomplishes 5 star effectiveness in both. Amy quickly resolves project problems whether it is a construction process issue or a design issue. Last, but far from least, she is so darned easy to work with. I would recommend her to any client. But for all of those reasons above, I could never recommend her to work with any of my competitors.

Amy and her team have worked with my wife and I for 2 or 3 years now. We love Amy because she spends the time to understand the specific situation for each project, before she starts to give us her ideas and recommendations. This is really important to us and makes her special. Over the years we have had some projects that were large in scope where we were willing to spend more, and where we gave fewer restrictions to Amy and her team. In other cases, the projects were smaller in scope and in less used areas, so we wanted to try to be more budget conscious. Once she understands the parameters and context of the project, she is amazing at providing value for the budget she is provided with. She has produced many exceptional spaces in our home that receive compliments each time we have visitors. The spaces have many components which are very unique. She brings ideas that we don't see in other places or photos. Her ability to bring in those unique components is also a big reason we have enjoyed working with Amy and why we will continue to work with her in the future.

Amy Bubier was recommended to us by our architect 9 years ago when we were undertaking a substantial remodel and addition to our Scottsdale residence. Right away we appreciated Amy's taste, professionalism and her thoroughly enjoyable personality. She simply "nailed it" time and time again when it came to pulling together a look that we loved and still love to this day. She has an impeccable eye when it comes to bringing together color, fabric, textures and pieces that make rooms interesting, functional and oh so comfortable. Amy selected some incredibly talented artisans to custom make some amazing statement pieces, and introduced us to some very cool new materials for table surfaces that have a real wow factor.
Amy is my first phone call whenever I have a design project, whether for our residence or our business...she is simply the best and a true joy to work with. I have referred Amy time and time again to friends, and to a person they have appreciated her talent as much as I do. She is a tremendously talented designer, and a wonderful person to work with.

AB Design Elements was hired to remodel both of our business office locations, as well as our home. After working with Amy in our office locations, we were certain we would hire her to redecorate our home.
We love Amy's style and sense of color. Her design is clean, simple and modern. She gives warmth and style to any room. She is very creative and knowledgeable. We get lots of compliments on both of our office locations.
AB Design Elements has been able work well with our budget. They are able to find art, window treatments, and lighting at reasonable prices.

We engaged ABDesign Elements to redesign a floor plan, oversee construction of major structural changes and create an inspired finished look for half of our home. The finished spaces are a guest casita, dry sauna, home gym, a large media room for sports viewing and playing pool, a masculine guest bedroom, and a spa inspired bathroom and meditation bedroom.
This project was completed by AB Design Elements with brilliance, knowledge, competence and creativity. We gave Amy Bubier our complete trust and she wowed us with new spaces that we are living in and enjoying every minute!

Amy Bubier really turned our house into a home! We have been consulting with Amy since 2009, and we still call her anytime we are ready to take on a new project--no matter how big or small. She is extremely easy to work with. She has so many ideas for every space in the house. Amy listens to what you are looking for and takes your opinion into account. She also works within your budget. We have received many compliments about our home, and not just from friends. I enjoy being at home. It is stylish yet comfortable. AB Design Elements, did an amazing job with our daughters room. Their design concept was creative, versatile and useful. It was so beautiful that HGTV.com featured it. I've hired AB Design Elements for a number of homes that I have remodeled. The most recent project was a home built by noted Phoenix architect Ralph Haver. Amy's finished product, pricing, and work processes are second to none. I'd highly recommend her to anyone who demands the best and requires a thoughtful designer with a well trained eye for detail.

I interviewed several interior designers and contractors for our home remodel. Of the many that I spoke with, Amy was the most creative in finding solutions to complete our remodel within our budget and not compromise on the vision of the finished product. Amy was very responsive to any questions or changes we had in the design and made sure the project was complete to our satisfaction from start to finish. I was very tentative coming into the project as I had never remodeled a home before and Amy made it fun and the process far exceeded mine and my husbands expectations.
