My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Barbara has a brilliant mix of incredible smarts, a high degree of intuition, hard work, unique and practical creative flare, great taste and an attitude that gets the job done with immense organization, effectiveness and efficiency. I have known Barbara since we were 11 and 12 years old, respectively. We reconnected later in life and I began working with Barbara when I moved to CT after I built a home on the Ct shoreline! Simply put, I love Barbara as a person and a design professional.

There is so much I can say about Barbara Block's work since I have been using her for 20 years and she's never let us down. We recently moved into a new condo and she comes over and just moves things around gives her suggestions and BOOM our place looks awesome. There is never any pressure she just has a way about her expertise in designing that makes the journey easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend her if your looking for interior design.

When we moved into our 1963 split level home (terrible house, great location) I knew we would need help making it functional and lovable. I have never worked with a designer before and reached out to Barbara after seeing her portfolio on Houzz. Her style seemed to be eclectic and a little whimsical, which fit with my vision for my new home. With Phase 1 of our renovation almost complete, there are so many positive things I could say. Simply put, the transformation is jaw dropping. I had a vision, Barbara got it, then molded it into something I could not have imagined – but LOVE even more. She also firmly stopped me from making some mistakes, which is especially appreciated. She understood my budget and worked hard to stay within it, while pushing me to invest in quality. She also found ways to economize when possible. My favorite thing has been the contractors Barbara recommended. Each has been reliable, extremely skilled and very easy to work with. I’m having a hard time thinking about future renovations without Barbara’s guidance.

We recently moved into a new waterfront home and wanted a cozy seaside feel. Barbara helped us through the whole project - picking up where the architect left off & working hand-in-hand with our construction crew, choosing a great color palette, helping us select nearly a whole house of furniture, picture framing and placement, statement lighting... we are thrilled with the result. She & her staff were very easy to work with, very accommodating to our schedules & special needs. I hope I don’t need to do another big interior design job again, but when I do, I will go back to Barbara for help.

Barbara is the best! We recently moved to a condo and I knew I needed her help again. We had used her a while back at our home and were so happy with the results. She came for the initial meetup and within 2 hours she had moved and rearranged many items I already had in the house and made it look great!! My husband was so impressed because he just figured I was going to throw out everything I had and start fresh but if something that works without having to purchase something new she does it. She has a keen eye for every aspect of design.

When we moved from our house in Woodbridge to downsize to a condo, we consulted with Barbara Block for decisions about our new home. What to keep, what to add and what colors would make us comfortable in our new surroundings? Wonderful soft colors made our home serene looking and enhanced our paintings and possessions. We were thrilled with the look on day one and seventeen years later we still love the atmosphere Barbara created for us. This year we redid our den with Barbara’s help we picked a rich looking wood floor that went great with the built ins and a colorful rug that jazzed things up. Wall space is limited so a rocking swivel chair was recommended to talk/ watch TV in two different directions. We love it!

Barbara is a total professional. She is experienced, knowledgeable, and very creative. Her thoughtful, generous, kind spirit makes for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Barbara worked with us to furnish a new master bedroom and bathroom, and to refurbish an existing 1/2 bath. While initially I was not inclined to think we needed the services of an interior designer, I was proved wrong by the vast knowledge and resources that Barbara brought to the job. She allowed us to realize our own vision but improved it by guiding us to suppliers that we would never have found on our own and that, frankly, resulted in a better, higher-level outcome than would otherwise have been possible. Barbara has an assured point of view that she can place in the service of your own vision. In our case we were pretty clear on the direction we wanted to take but if we had needed more guidance Barbara could easily have provided it. I should add that Barbara assumed total responsibility for taking notes on every detail, and for managing and scheduling all orders and deliveries. She was enthusiastic and dedicated for the duration of the project and just a pleasure to work with.

Barbara really got to know me and my taste and helped to choose paints and decorate my home. She was amazing helping me buy new things to fit with my old things keeping it personal, yet classy! The window treatments and custom bedding and pillows are the favorites in my home - very high quality and really completed the spaces, and have lasted with my 3 kids for 5 years! I look forward to working with Barbara again!

I have used Barbara Block Interiors for two projects. The first was my primary residence for which she did the complete interior from Basement to Bedrooms. She listened to what my husband and i wanted in a home and created spaces that are distinct to each of our needs as well as just beautiful. From a single swatch of cloth that contained our preferred colors and our preference for Craftsman style features she created home that is as everyone who comes to visit awesome, and livable. I would highly recommend her for her design skills, even it you just use her to help layout a kitchen design she focuses on how you plan to live in the space and creates around it. She is generous with her time - you need to be the one to police the budget. The second space which we are about to be able to move into was a complete remodel of a condo at the beach. I have told her when we are done it will be like living in a piece of art. Completely up to date with a true laid back style, the colors and textures she has chosen will set the tone for any vacation time - a really beautiful design and she worked in some existing pieces as well.

I live in a 1968 modernist house, and was looking for a good designer to help me renovate and decorate the common areas (living room, dining room, kitchen, foyer, hallways, etc). I found Barbara Block listed on Houzz, and was drawn in by photos of some of the modern spaces she had created. I could not be happier with my decision to hire her. She is a pleasure to work with, and a brilliant designer! I hope to start working on my bedrooms and bathrooms next year, and have every intention of enlisting Barbara's help for those rooms as well. Highly recommend!
