We worked with Barbara Gisel Design, of Haverford, PA, on the construction of a new home in West Virginia. Barbara Gisel honored the narrative expressed by two brothers of incorporating their family’s history with a more modern approach to function and design. She worked seamlessly with the architect and contractor incorporating her fresh ideas into the homes’ metaphorical history. Blending and executing architectural and interior design details with simplicity of construction in functionally challenging bathrooms, kitchen and dressing rooms helped bring the project to completion on time and underbudget. Her team works very well and seamlessly with the overall project team and resulted in the only home that was considered sellable at value by the Greenbrier sales office during the great recession. The work was done quickly, efficiently and with great attention to detail. I downsized from a large house to a smaller one. BGD advised me which pieces of furniture to bring and where to place them. Maps were drawn, and tape was placed on the floor of my new house to point out exactly where each piece of furniture was to be placed. This is the second time BGD has helped me. I would never use anyone else. They are THE BEST!

I worked with Barbara Gisel herself to do all our curtains (living room, dining room, bedrooms, bathrooms), and living room sofas, assist with paint colors and other details. I recommend her highly. 1) She never imposes her taste on you (unless you ask). You choose what you like and she will execute, thus you end up with your aesthetic (that you love and are comfortable with), not someone else's. For example, we went together to look at fabrics the market place so I could pick out anything I liked (rather than somebody bringing you a few pre-selected samples). That way, when she helps you choose and narrow down what might look best in any given situation, it is always something you like and will continue to like when in is done because you initially selected it in the first place. 2) If there is a problem or mistake, THEY MAKE IT RIGHT…no extra cost to you. In this day-and-age, when it seem somebody always messes up (and you have to re-do something) it seems to always ends up coming out of our own pocket book. NOT with Barbara Gisel Design. You have a contract, a price, and it gets done right! 3) Very efficient, knowledgeable, down-to-earth, and humble. No pretenses. Always pleasant!

Barbara Gisel Design provides a very professional and extremely thorough interior design service. They are sensitive to the needs of the client, the budget, and the overall zeitgeist of the project. They have full interior design capabilities including furniture, fixtures, finishes and cabinetry design. I recommend them highly.

BGD decorated our new house we built. They decorated all the rooms and designed the bathrooms. They did the lighting plan for the electrician, helped select the lights and designed all our built ins. They were great to work with. They listened to our thoughts about what we wanted in our house and created that. They always responded quickly to any questions I had. If something was too expensive for us, they gave us more options in a lower price point. Everyone who has visited has said our house is a warm and welcoming home. will definitely continue to use them and recommend them to others.
