We hired Kim to help design an outdoor patio for a jacuzzi and fountain and she more than exceeded our imagination! Her plans were stunning and really utilized the space in a way we hadn't even considered. It made the patio not just an add-on but an integral part of our backyard space. Her furniture designs were perfect! And her landscaping suggestions really expanded the space at the same time it gave it a cozy feel: quite extraordinary. We got so much more than we had anticipated and could not be more delighted with the results. Thank you Kim! You are a wonderful person to work with and a brilliant designer. My wife and I have lived in our home for about 20 years. It is in its original condition and there are many remodeling ideas we have for our home. But, neither one of us has any clue about interior design, construction or the costs of these items. We set aside a budget and then started to look for someone who could just give us a reality check on what to do and how much it might cost. We found Kim. We liked the fact that she is an interior designer with deep experience in construction. Our experience with her was great. She came by and walked through the inside and outside of the house. She listened carefully to our ideas and asked a lot of questions about how we currently use the house and what changes we want to make. Then, she was able to show us room by room, what improvements we should consider and what she thought would pay off both in terms of our lifestyle and resale value. We were amazed because she saw possibilities that we never considered and she found things that we didn’t realize were potential problems. She gave us great ideas for fixing some of the cosmetic issues, and shed reality on some of the structural repairs we would need to deal with in the near future. By the time the walk through ended, we had a really great perspective on what was possible, how much it would cost, and how long it would take and how we should prepare for a major remodel. That two hour walk-through was well worth the investment, and when we are ready to begin, we will definitely call Kim to help us plan for construction, create a design plan and manage the process.

RAD Designs (Robert Adam Dorn)

Kim contacted me to help bring one of her concepts to life on an extensive remodel of a 1950's house. The exterior needed a new elevation. I was impressed because many interior designers I have worked really focus just on decoration. Kim's firm had produced a completed, scaled 3D concept of the exterior of the home showing the addition of dormers and a Portico. It is important for an architect and interior designer to be able to communicate efficiently to make sure that architectural plans and construction documents reflect the intended design concept and can be constructed within budget. Kim's firm excels at making that happen. Her detailed and accurate 3D renderings and her understanding of construction made it easy for me to do my job and ultimately, make the project a success.

Over the years, I have worked with multiple interiors designers form homes Deer Valley, La Quinta and Rancho Palos Verdes. Kim stands out as one of the top interior designers I have had the pleasure to work with. I originally contacted her for a second opinion on some materials selections for my home. During our first meeting she sketched out an option that I hadn't considered, but that I loved. I hired her to help me select surfaces and finishes for a major remodel of my entry way, kitchen and great room and to work with my contractor during the installation. I was extremely happy with the results. Kim understands quality and help me select materials that were commensurate with my home. She is very patient and I think one of her strengths is that she listens very carefully to her clients. She is able to interpret what they want and bring that to life. She also fantastic in working with my contractor. She created construction drawings for the contractor that were concise and easy to interpret. She knows construction very well which is helpful in creating design solutions that can be built. During construction she was extremely responsive and available when critical decisions needed to be made in the field. I have been delighted with her services and on top of that she is a pleasure to work with . I offer my highest recommendations.

Starting last month we have worked together on the remodel and ground up construction for a few properties , mainly focused on the residential sector. I have found her to be totally passionate about achieving a great design and producing the best work suited for her client's desires. She goes above and beyond on projects , dedicating all the time needed to accomplish her goal. I have found her to be a great designer. Particularly great with color, texture combinations, space planning, and furniture selection. In my interactions with her, I have discovered that she prefers a collaborative approach to her work, putting the clients needs first and leading collaboration with the entire team in an effort to come to the best result. Kim is a remarkable designer who is passionate about producing great design and high quality interior design solutions. So I decided to do something different today and review one of our long-term clients, BDG. Our studio is the unseen production house for many companies in different industries coast to coast. We've worked both directly (State of California CalFire, City of Nanjing, China) and indirectly (AECOM, Ensign Energy, Marathon Energy) for some big names in business. We do white-label architectural production not only for US-based developments, but also a few in Toronto, Canada; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Nanjing, China, and even Barbados. Every business has a few most favorite, most cherished clients and ours is BDG, led by the California designer Kim Bauer. We have now done a good number of spec homes for Kim's studio in 3D space, usually animated. But on Kim's initiative, we've taken our work from the usual 3D animations into the interactive virtual reality space, where project owners with Occulus Rift-type equipment can explore their future homes and interactively try out different furniture and materials. I didn't even know there were so many before working with her team. Coming from the more "corporate" developers, we work with a pretty mainstream palette you find in large healthcare or institutional developments. But with Kim, I learned about some of the most unusual, quirky and uncommon types of stone and fabric. I don't even know where she finds them. Now I have to admit, the amount of materials and furniture pieces Kim has us try, or getting every little minute detail just perfectly right is more than our usual clients. But Kim is a unique home designer and personally, it's just plain interesting to see the next cool design being built somewhere. She also has a quick architect so working with them is both creative and productive. So now you know... we balance out our mainstream work with Kim's creative and crazily detailed designs. I'm glad we found her.

Trendy Surfaces

As Trendy Surfaces we are a high - end hard surfaces supplier which works with designers and architects on very large remodels and speck homes nationwide. Kim has been such a pleasure to work with since day one when she first approached us at the KBIS 2016 in Las Vegas earlier this year. She is passionate about her job and is not afraid of a challenge, or of leading an entire team to get the best results possible for her clients. We are currently working with Kim on a very high-end and large scale project that has been ongoing for 3 months now and all has gone amazingly smooth. Communication is key, especially for projects like these, and Kim has definitely gone above and beyond for her clients. She's listened to their wants and needs, envisioned what the project will look like, and communicated very well with the entire project team to get the best outcomes.. This little lady is a fireball! She is a spectacular designer. Her portfolio is exceptional. She is particularly great with color, texture combinations, space planning, and furniture selection. She has extensive construction knowledge; not just the ability to put together the entire design, but she thoroughly understands the construction management process as well. As far as Project Management is concerned, she understands all the little details required to pull a job together. Alice West

Kim has been fabulous! She is helping us decorate the entire downstairs of our new home. She starts with asking lots of questions, looking at photos of things we like and taking measurements. Then she put together multiple floor layouts give us several options for the placement and sizes of the furniture. She collaborated with us to take pieces of each design and put them together into a layout that we loved. Then she went on-line shopping for just the right pieces of furniture. My husband and I are very decorating-challenged, but Kim figured out very quickly what we liked and didn't like and showed us lots of options for each piece. Plus my husband and I have completely opposite taste, but she was able to find pieces that were the perfect compromise between us. Kim was always very professional and patient with us when we took a while to make up our minds. She is also very conscious of our required timeline and budget, and worked very hard to stay within both. All the furniture and décor is on order now - we are very much looking forward to receiving it and seeing it all come together!

We have worked and collaborated with Kim and Bauer Design Group on several residential projects since 2008.
