My wife and I recently moved to Baltimore and bought our first place, and before moving in decided to renovate our kitchen and powder room. Emilie was incredible throughout the entire process. She went WAY above and beyond, gave us so many options, orchestrated every detail, advocated for us (and our wallets) at every turn, and at the same time made us feel so welcome in our new city. Her industry knowledge, creativity, and communication were invaluable; there’s no way that could have done anything remotely close without her. We LOVE our new Kitchen :). I’m so grateful for my work with Emilie. I had just moved and started a new job. I had no time and definitely needed order but was also looking for a touch of creativity and artistry—and Emilie delivered! The designs she created were inspired. I have a lot of unique original art pieces I've collected over the years, and Emilie incorporated them seamlessly in her design. The end result was unique yet to my taste/preferences. My husband and I purchased a new townhouse in August of 2020. We ordered a new sofa and a chair initially, but it became apparent after our furniture arrived, we needed some help with layout of our new, modern home with an open floor plan. I knew I needed a professional to help. I found Home Methods by a google search. After reading about Emilie and her work, I contacted her for a consult. She came to my home and we discussed what I liked, didn't like and vision for my living room. She was SUPER helpful, professional and great to work with. She provided 4 possible layouts with 2 different story boards for possible pieces. I decided to look for a few things on my own, using her suggestions as a guide. Before I purchased anything, I would check in with Emilie. She was responsive and always gave great advice. My living room is almost done-I had a set back with the Interior Define debacle and had to start from square one!! Emilie stuck with me, answering all my questions and giving advise when I needed it. I can't wait to receive my furniture and have her over to check it out. I would also add that she helped with picture placement too. I am super grateful to have found and worked with her. Emilie is absolutely fabulous! We moved from the West Coast to Baltimore in October 2021 and purchased a row home in Federal Hill. The home had been updated 10 years ago and was very eclectic. We had never felt totally settled in our prior home and wanted to work with a designer to feel totally settled into our new life across the country. In reviewing numerous Yelp and google reviews, we found Emilie at Home Methods and instantly fell in love with her bold and bright color palettes and the right amount of eclectic and classic to really match our personalities. We were still in escrow when we met Emilie and she came over to the home even before closing to take measurements and help us start envisioning our new home. Emilie walked us through every part of the process with expertise and enthusiasm. Emilie gave us quotes for helping pick out design ideas at various cost levels as well as helping us install her vision with appropriate contractors, delivery personnel, and shipping/storing until installment day. In the first round we decided on living room/dining room furniture, wallpaper/paint, art and decor. Once we were living in the home, we realized we needed to update the hardwood floors, which were not standing up to our pack of pets. Emilie helped us then identify some awesome luxury plank vinyl to protect the original hardwood underneath and a fantastic professional to install them. All of Emilies contractors were professional, kind, prompt, and provided excellent work product. Emilie herself is kind, personable, incredibly knowledgeable, prompt, enthusiastic, and flexible. We literally could not have imagined a better working relationship with such a big task. We absolutely love our home and all of the design choices that Emilie helped us make. With such an eclectic home she helped us marry the right balance of punchy and timeless, not to mention durable with 4 dogs and a cat. If you are looking for any home design project, big or small, Emilie is the right choice. We will continue to use her for ongoing updates and additions in the future because it was such a wonderful experience. Emilie is an absolute joy to work with. We had 2 full baths and 1 half bath that were in desperate need of renovation. Emilie spent time to really understand what we were looking for in our bathroom designs and then presented us with two options for each space we were redoing that we could choose from. The bathrooms turned out beautifully and are everything we hoped they would be. Emilie helped us choose every thing the contractor asked us to provide, ordered the items for us and coordinated with the contractor to make sure that everyone was on the same page. When the wrong item was delivered or too many of an item arrived, Emilie took care of getting the corrections made. She made the major undertaking of renovating 3 bathrooms at the same time as painless as possible for us. Her rates are reasonable and she was worth every penny we paid for her services. On top of it all of this, she is a genuinely sweet person! I am so happy to know I have a designer who is so easy to work with that I can count on. I will definitely be calling on her expertise again in the future!

Emilie has been an absolute dream to work with. Our project was huge, spanning two floors of our house and including an outdoor area. She helped us to create new layouts, source new furniture, create an aesthetic that blended both my and my husband's unique tastes, AND keep things wheelchair accessible and disability-friendly which is especially important for me! We have received countless compliments on our newly redesigned house. She also worked incredibly well with our other contractors including an architect and kitchen designer to coordinate deliveries, design new features, install shelves/hanging features/art, and add wallpaper/paint that would be cohesive. Her connections to both large stores and local craftspeople meant that our designs were affordable and one-of-a-kind. We will be continuing to hire Emilie when we need help deciding on the perfect piece to add to the foundation she's helped us to build.

Working with Home Methods and Emilie Schiller has been a phenomenal experience. I had a space that was ill-defined that I wanted to repurpose as a home office / guest bedroom but didn't know where to start. At our initial consultation, Emilie listened to my vision, learned more about my design style / desired budget, and took measurements. She delivered two amazing floor plan options, both of which were within budget and matched my aesthetic. After I chose one, she coordinated everything--from tracking deliveries to staging the space to hiring contractors to paint/assemble/hang. She did it all! I love this space now. Working from home, I go into my new office each morning and feel a wave a calm wash over me because it is here I feel authentic. This is all in thanks to Emilie and Home Methods! I'm so enthralled by my new space that I'm on to round 2, where Emilie will help me redesign my open floor plan entryway / living room / dining area. Cannot recommend Emilie enough!

I worked with Emilie at Home Methods from April of 2021 through the first year of the new year. I received a referral from Greenleaf Construction in Baltimore and could not be happier with their recommendation. During our first consultation, Emilie created a safe space for exchanging ideas while maintaining her professional experience and advice. She was thorough with her notes, measurements and patient with the many questions I asked. Home Methods was responsible for changing the interiors of our dated office kitchen, primary bathroom, powder room, and secondary bathroom. Emilie even went the extra mile and assisted with ordering and purchasing every key fixture required for the construction crew to begin. Emilie was respectful of my busy and chaotic schedule and trustworthy with our office work and projects. Another reason why I would work with Emilie again and have recommended her to several colleagues is she is very upfront about prices, cost, and sticks to your desired budget. Knowing you will not be invoiced more than was discussed was such a relief. Our office interiors came out beyond beautiful, and I cannot thank Home Methods enough for their professionalism, creativity, patience, and kindness. You will not find a better Designer here in Baltimore or the DMV area.

I could not glow more about the experience of working with Emilie and her team. From design to execution, she did a fantastic job threading the needle between mine and my wife's tastes, which were at times at different ends of the spectrum. We moved into a new house and the previous owners left us with an incredibly tacky aesthetic. Emilie transformed the space and managed all aspects of installers, painters, deliveries, etc. She brought simplicity to a complex process that was made even more complex by COVID supply chain challenges and left us with a space that is simply jaw-dropping. We couldn't be more pleased and we probably did better from a budget perspective than had we decided to go it alone. We will definitely be working with Home Methods again!

Emilie did an incredible job in both designing an efficient closet that would match our needs and space limitation, but also took the lead on dealing with the installation companies, saving us time, frustration, and money. On top of that, she’s an absolute joy to work with and a really fun person. We would highly recommend working with her and plan to use her again later with additional projects.

I am so happy I found Emilie. I recently moved and needed help on my dream living room. I wanted something oddly specific, but my ideas were sort of vague and all over the place. Emilie viewed the space, listened to my ideas and came up with something I truly treasure. I think it works so well because she is such a good listener. She didn't throw trendy trinkets around willy-nilly. She took the time to get to know me and my wife and designed a room that we both want to be in. Honestly, I think about how I want to be in that room when I'm not in it. I've sent photos to everyone I know and the response is typically, "I want to be in that room," or "how did she pull that off?" Emilie didn't exactly play it safe but she also never took me completely out of my comfort zone. I think the fact that she can walk that line really sets her apart. I recommend her with my highest compliments.

I recently bought a home in need of a complete interior paint refresh. I was overwhelmed with the number of painting companies in the area and reached out to Emilie for help. She quickly lined up three painting companies and booked time with each one for me. Emilie was present with me for the first walk-thru—pointing out things that should be addressed, including repainting my fireplace mantel. She offered to handle the final two walk-thrus herself so I wouldn't have to take time off from work. Now in just over a week's time, my new home will be freshly painted in time for move-in day. Emilie took away a huge amount of stress simply by sourcing and booking appointments for me. I'm looking forward to working with her again in the very near future.

I had the best experience working with Emilie. It was my first time working with a professional interior designer and it was fabulous! She came to my house prepared and asked great questions about my style and preferences. She measured the space and we discussed what to keep in the space and what to add. She was clear about her contract and made me feel at ease with the process. Once she left my house, the turn around time for the 2 design options she sent me felt so quick! After struggling to decorate my apartment for months, I found Emilie. She was instrumental in making my vision come to life. She started by with a thorough in-home consultation and came up with some design boards. I was glad to have multiple options to choose from. She also sourced and ordered the items. I was impressed by her superior organizational skills; she was able to share a document that would allow me to track the items along with her. She would always provide updates and also made a Pinterest board that allowed me to add items later as my budget allowed. She took over all of the unpleasant aspects of the process (return labels etc) when some things didn't work out. She was respectful of my budget and addressed every one of my concerns. She was extremely patient and flexible (I am very indecisive). As a result of her impeccable taste, my apartment is now my personal oasis. I can't wait to come home every day. Bottom Line Up Front: Emilie Schiller / Home Methods is excellent. Background: We closed on newly built condo in August of 2019. The space is contemporary and large (~2600sqft). I am notoriously independent and a bootleg DIY'er. My wife and my routines was: (i) come up with a design idea, (ii) try it out by buying a piece of furniture or decoration, (iii) live with it for a day or two then typically return it ... it was expensive, time consuming and frustrating. A family member whose home is decorated beautifully advised me to hire an interior decorator (as she had done). I balked at first then headed to houzz to look for local decorators. Engaging Home Methods: We looked at well over 200 decorator profiles and sites and narrowed it down to 10. I am very, very, very particular about who I spend my money with. As such things like responsiveness and professionalism are incredibly important to me. Of the ten that we reached out to four were nixed immediately for poor responsiveness. We interviewed six and shared those profiles with trusted family and friends. Emilie was one of two consistent favorites. We narrowed it down to two that we commissioned to create designs. Emilie met with my family, listened to our design needs, was intent on understanding our budget, and explained the design process completely. She was in constant communication. The other designer was .... not Emilie. We reviewed both designs the same week and Emilie blew us away ... her design board options were amazing ... the budget estimates were meticulous and well-planned. She listened, designed to our needs, and did what she said she would do. We moved forward with Home Methods to design and project manage the Main Floor Design and expanded to her designing and project managing the entry level design. The Engagement: We had never engaged an interior designer and heard both good and bad stories. Here is our experience and recommendations for others like us. Emilie is a unicorn ... an amazing designer + a strong business person. She captured everything we needed from a design perspective. She understood our budget and kept me in check when I tried to wander outside of it. As a newbie to working with a designer this is critical because EVERYTHING looks amazing. Emilie presented us a detailed budget and ordering spreadsheet. She engaged all vendors and scheduled everything. She pulled all samples and presented them to us. Next advice to newbies ... work with a designer who is flexible. Emilie is patient and understanding. She offers multiple design options and is open to our design recommendations. That is really important. The Final Results: Paint: Stunning ... entryway up through the second level gorgeous tinted grey. Stark white ceilings that Emilie had cut perfectly. Main Floor is a darker tint that pops off of the wall. Main Floor Half Bath: a textured wall paper painted the same color as the main level + an incredible mirror that replaced the builder grade mirror that was there. Rugs: Perfectly selected to break up a large open space into a series of living areas. just perfect. Overall Design: Excellent ... NET: This was our first experience with an interior designer. We could not have selected anyone better. Emilie / Home Methods is best of class. Once this pandemic ends we're working with Home Methods to design the second level :-)

Emilie from Home Methods took the lead with several projects to prepare our condo to be move-in ready (we lived in Austin and moved to Baltimore). We could not have accomplished so much without Emilie's help and expertise (new closet doors and organizing system, carpeting, touchup painting, window treatments, utility closet, and such). Emilie coordinated and facilitated work from start to finish (estimates, vendor selection, and installation). She went above and beyond in carrying out her work. I'd love to work with Emilie again!

I can't give enough stars to Emilie/Home Methods. She was so easy to work with and understood my style and needs immediately. When I encounter obstacles with any of the pieces in our plan, she went above and beyond to help me pivot on the design. Emilie from Home Methods did an amazing job decorating my study! She took the time to thoroughly understand my space and my requirements - taking exact measurements, reviewing my existing repertoire of decor and interviewing me for my desired style. The final product was fresh and engaging while still incorporating the classic styling of a gentleman’s study.

We had the opportunity to work with Home Methods, while we thought we had an idea of what it would take to design a multi purpose room for our family, The consultants at Home Method offered a practical blueprint in terms of painting, ordering materials , etc. While the project was not fully completed due to our constraints Home Methods provided us with everything we need to complete our project within our budget and most importantly we love our redesigned basement.

I needed someone to help me organize and place wall decor and small furniture like lamps after we made some changes in the way we were using some of our rooms. I was having trouble transitioning my things so they made sense. Emilie helped me see ways to use things and even helped me finally put some sentimental art and objects on display. She was fun to work with, and her willingness to respect my budget was appreciated! Emilie helped me create a gallery room that is just what I hoped for when we started this process!
