Smith & Ryan, owned by Kim Smith & Annette Ryan, is a full-service interior design company serving the greater Philadelphia area. Kim & Annette met in the fast-paced fashion industry in 2015. They spent a lot of late nights, early mornings and weekends working together curating a beautiful assortment of pieces. As their time in the fashion industry came to a natural end, Kim and Annette pursued separate, yet similar, paths. After having learned a lot in corporate America, Kim decided to move over to a small, independent design firm. She worked across all aspects of residential and commercial design. She specialized in space planning, architectural selections as well as home furnishings. Annette moved on to get her real estate license, where she was successful in selling homes and then designing those homes for her clients. She found herself selling homes to clients because of the design potential and thats how she knew her real calling was for interiors. In 2018 Kim & Annette decided to rejoin forces and start Smith & Ryan Design.

Kim and Annette were thoughtful, creative, patient and responsive throughout the process. They struck a great balance of listening to what we were hoping to achieve and adding new ideas of their own, provided us with great options to choose from, and managed the entire process from orders to installation. Beyond that, they're wonderful and talented people and we felt fortunate to work with them.

Kim and Annette were fabulous to work with! I was feeling overwhelmed at the thought of transforming an awkward shaped room into a nursery on my own in the midst of a pandemic. One meeting with them and I knew that they not only understood my style but that they would make it a special room that we would be proud to bring our newborn home to. Despite all of the challenges of the pandemic, the nursery turned out above and beyond what I ever could have imagined! It is now my favorite room in the house and I love sitting in there with our baby. Would love to use the again for future projects!

Annette & Kim were fantastic to work with. They walked us through every step of the design process and took our budget, preferences, and style into account on every design piece. They partnered with us to understand the things that were functionally and aesthetically important to us. We had 3 rooms completed with them - a sunroom, a living room, and a master bedroom. Our sunroom required new flooring, paint, some repairs, and installation of a large hanging furniture piece. They coordinated everything seamlessly, despite the pandemic! All of our rooms they designed feel light, livable, and cozy. They made our house feel like a home. We’d highly recommend Smith & Ryan as a design team!

I hired Kim & Annette to redesign my Kitchen from 2000. The before and after pictures are remarkable. The colors, hardware, lighting & countertops are gorgeous. We kept existing cabinets because they were in perfect condition & look brand new with the beautiful taupe/gray paint & simple matt black pulls. The gold lighting is unique & jaw-dropping. Dramatic white & gray porcelain countertops & backsplash - WOW. The kitchen is an open concept & we’re now moving into the living area with Smith & Ryan. Can’t get enough of these two & our bedroom is next on our redesign list. These young designers are super professional, a delight to work with, are budget conscious & have a design sense that spans all styles. Love their taste!

I cannot begin to say enough good things about Kim and Annette from Smith and Ryan Design. When it comes to design I am like a chicken with my head cut off. I was so unsure of where to even begin with the projects I wanted to complete in our house that it kept me paralyzed from doing anything at all for so many years. Then finally I reached out to Kim and Annette and I am so thankful I did. They were able to interpret from talking to me and seeing some inspiration photos I had put together the style I was looking for and they designed 4 incredible spaces in my house that I absolutely love. They are easy to work with, professional, timely and smart. My house finally feels finished and cozy. They are magic!

I cannot begin to thank Smith & Ryan enough for their professionalism and efficiency in helping me create my dream home. From start to finish, they were able to turn this once daunting task into an enjoyable experience. After moving from a small one-bedroom apartment, I became overwhelmed with the thought of designing and decorating my house in a cohesive manner. These ladies were able to bring my vision to life and curated the most beautiful pieces to do just that. They were able to provide me with many options to fit in my budget and I was able to feel very involved in the design process. They created a very functional and beautiful space that I know I would never be able to achieve myself. I look forward to coming home every day and I am very proud to show off my home. I am looking forward to my next project with the S&R ladies and cannot recommend them enough!

I cannot say enough about what a positive experience I had with Smith and Ryan. I worked primarily with Annette, but know that she collaborated with Kim for my living room project. Annette really listened to what I wanted, brought many fresh design ideas and successfully stayed within my budget. At one point I was out of town with a family emergency and Annette did a fantastic job of interfacing and resolving an issue with a contractor who was veering off the design which had been carefully planned. I absolutely LOVE the finished living room- a space I am now much more comfortable hanging out in and entertaining friends in!

I hired the ladies from Smith & Ryan after coming across their Instagram earlier this year. I had just moved in to a bigger place and needed help filling the empty spaces that came with moving to a larger home. They were incredibly professional and listened to me when I described my vision. My home is perfectly filled, cozy and happy because of this wonderful team. It looks clean and modern and I would hire these two over and over again.
