Services are tailored to your needs, from a one-time consultation to project shopping assistance, from a simple room redo to new construction. My services include; rustic to modern, interior and exterior decorating and color consultation, kitchen and bath design, nurseries to teen bedrooms, organizing services and staging properties for sale. I'm not afraid of budgets. I can work with what you have or I'm just as happy to start from a blank slate. For challenging spaces, I can think outside the nine dots, bringing fresh innovative ideas. I can also draw up floor plans and elevations for remodel jobs, custom cabinets, built-ins etc. for you to give to your contractor to expedite and simplify communications, or for your own use for materials and product shopping. My 30 years of experience started with a remodeling business partnered with my husband, Right Way Design To Finish, in Ithaca NY area. I designed kitchens and baths, and provided decorating services. In our "spare" time we were flipping fixer uppers. I bring more to the table than just a decorators eye, I also have hands-on experience in the building trades as well. So I'm able to suggest solutions and products that best suit your needs, narrowing down the sea of options helping you save time and money. This interior design specialist, not only gets to know the space and feel of the house or room she is designing, but she gets to know the individual she is working with/for. She explored options that work for our family, thus allowing her to truly help transform each room into a space that not only looks amazing but is also functional. She designed many rooms/areas in my house to look uncluttered and peaceful. The end product was beautifully, simplified spaces that were seamless. I am so happy to not have clutter meet the eye, but instead, a well designed and thought through, cohesive, beautiful space that is my style and meets me and my family's needs.

Jessica was incredible! She came into the primary bedroom destined for redecoration and listened intently to me about my desires, preferences, and vision for the space. She assessed with her expert eye, communicating her suggestions and aligning her vision with mine. There were present, meaningful pieces that I desired to re-use and she took that into consideration with thoughtful forward thinking. I also communicated my husband’s preferences, which Jessica wove into the plan with skill, precision, and respect. We shopped for new pieces, adeptly staying within the prescribed budget. I opted to over-purchase in order to provide visible options. Jessica was helpful and patient in the decision process. She had total respect for my preferences, while offering her opinion without pressure. Every pre-owned piece was reincorporated into the fresh design! I am SO happy with the final product! The space is soothing, inviting and so pleasing to my husband and myself. I would highly recommend Jessica’s service to anyone!

Highly recommend!! I bought a house in 2019 with large gardens and a weird front exterior set up. The gardens were overwhelming and unmanageable and the front door entrance was awkward due to a front deck that was oddly built and needed replacing. My husband and I were planning on rebuilding the deck but didn’t have an idea of how to make it better. Jessica heard my concerns and thought through a garden design that would look cohesive to the house but also manageable for me take care of. For the entry she asked some simple questions about the usage of our front deck and recommend a design for a smaller deck that would be less expensive to build and make the entrance more noticeable and elevated. I really appreciated the time Jessica took to look at my front landscaping and house, listen to my ideas, concerns and lifestyle, to design something beautiful and manageable while also considering the affordability of the changes. It was wonderful working with Jess! She is more than a fresh pair of eyes. She was able to walk through the few rooms that I wanted to improve and pinpoint exactly what was wrong and how to fix it while using what I already have. I thought I would need a new rug in my TV room/den, but after switching out the current artwork, moving a few pieces of furniture around, and increasing the light in that space, it felt like a brand-new room! All without needing to spend extra money on new furniture or decorations. She used her experience combined with my preferences to make easy and doable changes that made the biggest difference in the flow and feel of my house. Jess was honest and clear in her recommendations, but she also took my style and preferences into consideration. She also helped me figure out window treatments in multiple rooms. Jess is very easy to work with and I highly recommend her!

She came up with a plan to redesign my front gardens that should make them beautiful for many years using the plants I already own. She has also helped me pick paint colors, drapes, and furnishings for some of my rooms. I am thankful her design expertise. She listens to me and designs with my interests in mind.

I purchased my first home and Jess was invaluable! The project involved two bathrooms, two bedrooms, an office, kitchen, dining and living rooms. She worked with me to select paint colors, design the home’s layout and purchase everything needed. We met several times before I moved in- she practically read my mind and very quickly came up with innovative solutions to a tricky layout. I struggled to choose paint colors but Jess easily got a feel for my preferences and proposed a cohesive color scheme. My new home has a large amount of beautiful, old woodwork which is what drew me to it. Jess’s designs featured this and the paint colors we chose highlighted it for a stunning combination. My 100-year old house doesn’t offer much storage so Jess proposed creative storage options. She is so considerate and was economical in maximizing my budget. Her designs highlighted several meaningful pieces of furniture and art work that I already owned. She helped pull my thoughts together so I had a comfort level with the design and the furniture I needed to purchase. I used Jess’s shopping assistance and found it to be very helpful. She picked out items that I never would’ve envisioned and they worked out great. Jess is a pleasure to work with – she responded to my questions promptly. She made interior design an exciting venture for me and I realize how overwhelmed this process would’ve been had it not been for her work and expertise. Her talent is undeniable and she so enjoyed seeing the house come together the way I needed and desired. No complaints- highly recommended!

Finding Jess Francis on this site was a stroke of luck for us. We had purchased a quirky house on a lake ... half old (1918) and half new (1990s). She helped work with what was there to incorporate "small" changes that made a world of difference in merging the two styles. She came up with one brilliant idea that changed the whole house -- and it was something no one else came up with (not even a couple of architects). She is multifaceted ... not just someone who works with fabric and furniture (but she does that too and found us great stuff at amazing prices). She knows construction ... she can sketch great plans ... she is hands on. She is the perfect package and just what we needed. She is also pleasant and enthusiastic to work with.

Jess was awesome! The day after we moved in, everything was everywhere and there wasn't anywhere to sit down. My plan for the next day was just to get furniture in place so we could start unpacking from there, but what she helped us get done surpassed our greatest expectations! In just a few hours we had rooms laid out, all the furniture in their place, carpets in place, and all the walls decorated. Everything looked great! It already felt like home. If we had done it ourselves it would've taken over a week and probably wouldn't have been as well thought through.

We recently did a kitchen remodel that had been in the works for almost a year. We needed help figuring out the best configuration for our space, as well as help picking out the many items we needed to select. We know what we like; but knowing what would match and bring out the best in our new space was a challenge. We talked about hiring a decorator, but it was an intimidating thought, not only for cost but, well, we just didn't think of ourselves as the kind of people who hire a decorator. My husband and I separately went on Houzz and both found Jessica independently. That told us she was probably right for us. And she was. She is very down-to-earth, friendly, easy to talk to and not at all intimidating. She offered us as much or as little of her input as we wanted. She recognized we were on a budget and helped us use her time wisely. And it was money well-spent. She helped us put the finishing touches on our layout, which was a bit challenging due to our space constraints and helped us pick out major items. Sometimes she led our decision and sometimes she confirmed what we already liked. Either way, it was a huge help and comfort to know that our new kitchen and dining area would really look great. She also did a design for an additional space we hope to turn into a mudroom. Overall it was a great experience and I have recommended her to several friends also going through remodels. If you need some design help, no matter what your project, I highly recommend Jessica.
