I am a first-time homeowner and I bought my home knowing that it needed to be remodeled. We have all heard the horror stories from friends and family about remodeling projects gone awry, uncompleted, contractors and companies just being unresponsive and unprofessional. I knew the most crucial decision I would make would be the remodeling company – I forever grateful to Nicole, Masha and everyone at Design Tech Remodeling.
Design Tech exceeded all expectations in all areas: design, quality, value, communication and professionalism. The project (kitchen, master bathroom, mudroom, new flooring throughout, carpet, painting, ect) all came out beautiful (like better homes and gardens magazine beautiful), on time and on budget.
I remember my first meeting with Nicole and Masha. They took the time to learn about of my style, vision, needs and wants. Nicole and Masha were genuinely excited to help me create a home. They did not give me a cookie-cutter design. I felt that my project was totally new, unique and created just for me.
I did have a firm budget. One of my biggest concerns was that I would not be able to achieve everything I wanted or that a company would not respect/ push my budget. It is easy to achieve a gorgeous result with an unlimited budget but the challenge and talent is achieving it when you may not have all the dollars to so. Design Tech helped me make every dollar count. This was an investment that has without a doubt increased the value of my home dollar for dollar.
I am incredibly grateful for Nicole and Masha finding creative solutions which allowed me to stay within my budget while achieving an amazing result. The initial design for my master bath included a custom shower door. To save some money for other splurges, Masha came up with a great solution that did not sacrifice the look I wanted in the master bathroom at all and even made my closet bigger. She went back to the drawing board and made it happen.
Nicole’s advice about where to splurge and where to save, helped me immensely. When Nicole and I were in the showroom choosing a sink, I told her that I liked stainless steel. Nicole gave me the pros and cons of stainless steel and then introduced me to another option. I know it sounds silly to love a sink but I love it, everyone in my home loves it and I have been asked about it several times. We also had a similar conversation about mudroom flooring. Nicole knows products, vendors, quality and was always quick to discuss the functionality of items and the space, not just the aesthetics. That gave me confidence in the items we were choosing.
When I was not sure what I wanted (lighting, backsplash and paint colors) Nicole and Masha were able to provide me with perfect options. This prevented me from getting overwhelmed (there are literally thousands of options for everything so it is important to have people to help narrow them down). In fact, I was so confident in their stellar taste that I ended up letting Nicole and Masha choose most of the paint colors, I just told them to surprise me! And I am so glad I did. Another reason Design Tech is such an excellent value is because of their interior design skills. Nicole and Masha helped me envision a complete space and even helped me with furniture layout, scale and colors.
I work fulltime and Nicole and Masha always respected my limited availability and were happy to work around my schedule. I simply could not have done this without them. They met with the inspector, pulled the permits and took care of all that tedious little stuff. If there ever was an issue (the city inspector trying to slow us up), Design Tech typically took care of it before I even knew about it. If I had questions, responses were fast and clear. I knew when items were going to be installed and completed. Any delays were completely on me and my indecisiveness which Nicole helped me through even when it meant going back to the showroom for a second, okay third, time.
Besides Masha and Nicole, I very quickly came to know everyone working to make Design Tech great: Steve, Kurt, Christy, Kevin - they are all the incredibly dedicated professionals. Vince who installed my tile and Jeff who installed the hardwood floor were true artists that took such pride in their work. Design Tech is a family business, not a remodeling mill where you don’t know who you are meeting with or who is installing what. I felt confident and comfortable with everyone doing work in my home, they were truly a pleasure to work with. Whenever I went to a showroom with Nicole or Masha we were greeted warmly and treated like VIPs, everyone Design Tech works with (the granite vendors, the tile showroom, the kitchen and bath showroom, installers) had so much respect and affection for them. This is indicative of how they do business and treat others.
It has been nearly six months since my remodel was completed. I am surprised to say that I have not had to call Design Tech to do any fix-ups…nothings. I figured there might be one of two things considering the large scale of the remodel but no, everything was done perfectly. If I did need to follow-up with them about something, I am completely confident it would not be an issue. I am happy when I come home to the spaces they created. I went on a quick getaway this summer and stayed in a very nice hotel but I missed my bathroom, that is the ultimate compliment!
Thank-you again, Design Tech, for everything.
