What a great experience working with Erin from Folio Design in Del Mar. We just completed an expansion and remodel of our 18 year old kitchen. Erin is a talented professional with a keen sense of design. She has an amazing attention to detail and the ability to design a kitchen that functionally works well and looks magnificent. We had a challenging space to work with and Erin came up with an innovative solution and we were able to get everything on our wish list and more. We love our new kitchen and look forward to working with Erin on a future project.

A short 'window shopping' visit paid off big time when we met Erin at Folio. Although we were "just looking" and gathering ideas for the inevitable kitchen remodel (our 23+ year old appliances were failing), we had no plan and few ideas. Erin's low key style appealed to us and when she offered to visit and give us some ideas, we readily agreed. It wasn't long after that we realized Erin's talent. She has such a creative eye and she quickly had us thinking of new designs for the kitchen. She nailed our style and preferences with her first few sketches and then helped us fine tune a plan that we love. But that was only the beginning of her talent! Working closely with us Erin detailed the plans and put them out for bid; reviewed the bids with us and finalized a budget; helped us choose an amazing contractor; recommended cabinets, appliances, windows, tiles and counter tops; and selected every detail of the kitchen (seriously- down to the knobs and pulls, the look and locations of the outlets and the grout color), ordered the materials; visited the site to inspect the work and fine tune the details; and celebrated when the job was complete. We have worked with other designers during many renovations to our home and we have never found anyone with Erin's talent, energy, flexibility, patience, and attention to detail, timeline and budget! And her vast experience in kitchen design assured us the most innovative appliances, lighting and cabinets - all of which we love! Working on our kitchen with Erin has been a pleasure and we already have our sights on another project with her in the future. Our best advice is to plan ahead. And listen to Erin. We did and we couldn't be happier!

I worked closely with Erin on my kitchen remodel and it was a pleasure. Most importantly, our kitchen turned out even better than we imagined! We "live" in our kitchen and not only is it a beautiful and functional space, but it is the perfect expression of who we are. That outcome is the product of professional and dedicated design work. I put a lot of demands on Erin & Matthew (custom cupboard door design, custom colors, etc.) and they came through on every point. They were more obsessed with getting every detail right than me! Five years ago, I hired Erin at Folio to help me with the partial remodel of a house that I had purchased. Included in that project was transforming a dark and dated (nearly 50 year old) home into a bright and contemporary home with all new bathrooms, reconfiguring the master bedroom to include a walk-in closet, repurposing a space for a family work area/office and giving us an updated kitchen while maintaining the existing footprint. The best thing about Erin is that she listens to her clients. She has great style sense and will design to suit your tastes and budget. Unlike other designers, she does not push her design onto you, but will incorporate her design sense into your desired look. She has excellent relations with people in the building industry from contractors and suppliers to tradesman and retailers. She is super friendly, very creative and extremely hardworking. I've always found her billing to be fair and accurate. As a matter of fact, my initial experience working with Erin was so positive that when I decided I would like to redo my backyard last year - I only called Erin at Folio. I trusted her completely to come up with a design that would meet all my requirements, in a timely fashion and within my budget. I love the fact that Folio is a small firm - it's very easy to get a hold of her by phone or email. There's not a lot of layers - I like our very direct relationship. Although, my house is complete for now, I do anticipate that I will seek out Folio to help me with future projects. I highly recommend their services.

I've worked with Erin McGilvery and Folio Design to photograph their projects on three occasions. Erin and Folio Design do fantastic work!! Excellent attention to details and flow make Folio's projects really stand out -- and they photograph beautifully, too! I'm always glad to get a call from Folio. It means there's a killer project waiting for me.
