Tool Time Home Improvement is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Ed and Candace Rutter. "The goal from the beginning, ever since a grateful client suggested we open our own business, was to own a merit-based company that does the job right! Well, Tim Allen’s TV Show “Home Improvement” just so happened to be on TV that night while I was working at the customer’s house. I said I’ll call Myself Tool Time Home Improvement. That was the Fall of 1995." Before coming to this seemingly simple conclusion though, Ed decided he needed to do more and do better. "I could go out and do right by people, make amends. I had given it great thought, and by giving people a fair price and by doing great work is what I have been trying to do. I have been working in the construction business for many years. I framed homes and learned how NOT to Build them for 10 years. I got into the carpenters’ union and built bridges in the Kansas City Area for about 10 Years as well. I have always surrounded myself with professionals in critical areas of my business in which to learn the right way of doing things, while each time learning and growing from their mistakes. Mike Holmes would be Proud! Tim Allen Too!" At Tool Time, Candace and Ed try to focus on honesty and fairness, since realizing that their ideal customers want home improvement professionals who care about, and are invested in their home just as much as the homeowners. Professionals should be honest and fair priced, spell things out for them & most importantly, tell the client what they need to hear. We try to price out projects as fairly as possible, taking time to gather our "A" team of professionals in the trade. Candace and Ed do 85 to 90 % of the work but, bringing in key pro’s to customize cabinets, expert installation of hardwood floors, new roofing/repairs. We also provide complete plumbing & electrical services. We've adopted a three visit process for new jobs that need to be assessed and priced. The first meeting is a meet and greet and chat. The second meeting consists of having the customer meet with my team of designers for tile, cabinets, and plumbing (Rough written estimate, which is free).
