Square 1 Surfaces

Balt is a personable guy and the work has been been solid. The issue is he is constantly disappearing and making appointments he doesn’t show for. Our 3-4 week project is now at 7 months and Balt no longer responds to emails, calls or texts. On a couple of occasions Balt asked for “progress payments” beyond what was in the contract. On the second occasion we agreed to give him $2000 more before he finished the project leaving our bill at $1000. It is pretty obvious he is not ever going to finish the project at this point. We know you should not give a contractor the final payment until completion but after several stories about him not being payed by other clients, we relented and paid him 2k of the 3 we owed him. It has been several months since we have seen him or any of his crew after that. So he literally took the money and did not complete the work. Nice guy. Decent work. Very disorganized and not trustworthy.

Our first impression was great as Baltazar is very personable and is always willing to make it right. Our original 4-5 week estimate to remodel a master bathroom and closet turned out to be 4 1/2 months. There were issues with following direction we had given, quality of work (which they did come back and fix most of it) and over promising on deadlines and what they were going to complete. They may be great on small projects but make sure you have specific plans in detail and in writing
