Landscape 2000

I worked with Roman for nearly 8 years. Not only is Roman a character to be around he is by far the most knowledgable, hard working, creative, Swiss, unique landscaper in Vancouver. Roman never settles for "good enough" he is a true perfectionist and his work stands the test of time. (he did my parents garden before I was born in 1990 and it looks as good as ever). If you are lucky enough to have Roman as your landscaper you can rest assured you are in the most capable hands.

Roman, the owner of Landscape 2000 is an exceptional landscaper. He is an artist and his palette was the landscaping that he completed on our new build. He is an extremely creative, knowledgable, thoughtful landscaper that completely transformed our property. Roman dives in with his heart and soul when he commits to a job. Our home would not be what it is today without his creative touch that he put on the exterior of our property. Roman is a pleasure to work with and we highly recommend his services.

We had no idea what we wanted. We just knew we hated the “homebuilder special” assortment of random plants in a large rectangular plot that was our front yard. We had admired Landscape 2000’s work down the street so we gave Roman a call. Two years later, he showed up. We asked if he could move a few plants and make it look nicer. He nodded his head, said he would think about it, but he was busy. He didn’t seem that interested. After chatting a bit more, we asked, “Roman, what would YOU do to beautify our yard?” At that moment, his face lit up and he revealed a glimpse of his vision to us. Six months later, Roman had plunked his tool box and his beloved bobcat in our driveway. With an artist’s eye for detail, his unparalleled craftsmanship, his MacGyver-esque problem-solving (without cutting any corners), he regularly arrived at our home and accomplished solid work all the while communicating with us updates on his progress and discussing modifications to the project. He dedicated himself and his hard-working apprentice Mike to our landscaping as his sole job from start to finish. Even though “we had no idea what we wanted,” Roman has an innate ability to create a unique design by absorbing our needs and wishes and ultimately reflecting who we are in his final creation. We continue to appreciate Roman’s complete transformation of our property. It is now a joy to come home and to sit on the front steps with a glass of wine in the evenings. We love his artistry so much, he has commenced improvements to our backyard as well.

We have known Roman for well over 25 years. He is creative and has a unique skill: he's a landscape artist. It has not always been easy to hire Roman since he is very much in demand, but never the less he has been able to keep my garden looking great.

From the beginning Roman understood exactly what I wanted in terms of water feature in my garden (it sounds obvious but I had unfortunate experiences before). Along the way of the project (3 months), we shared ideas, made adjustments and that cooperation led us to an even better conclusion than the original plan. Roman extended his contribution by also working on other parts of the garden next to the water features which improved tremendously its integration in the landscape. Overall, this project was for me a success thanks to Roman's creativity, extremely high quality of workmanship and superb professionalism. Roman doesn't delegate, he is Landscape 2000 and his passion for what he does shows in his every day work.

Roman is much more than a landscape contractor; he is an accomplished landscape artist who is passionate about his work and who can be trusted. When Roman undertakes a project, he can be trusted to see it through to a successful completion. He can be trusted to bring his considerable skills to the project to achieve the optimum visual, artistic and practical result. Roman has very high standards for his work, which he can be trusted to adhere to. On our project, Roman worked collaboratively with us to ensure our objectives were met while suggesting creative ideas to solve technical challenges presented by drainage and elevation change issues. Roman’s sense of humor can be trusted to keep the tone of the project positive and moving forward. It was a pleasure to work with him on this project. Roman can be trusted to devote his energies to your project. He can be trusted to show up for work every day on time, or advise you if he will late on any given day. Significantly, Roman can be trusted to be fair with the cost of the work he does. We certainly feel we got value for money on our project. Roman has the skills, talents and experience to understand what is required to deliver projects to his quality standards. We had no surprises on our project. The challenges were identified and discussed before the project was commenced, the costs were budgeted and the project was completed on budget. We consider ourselves fortunate to have Roman do our project. He is busy and sought after; he picks his clients carefully. In this day and age, it is refreshing to find a person such as Roman who can be trusted to deliver successful, quality projects and have an enjoyable time doing it. Roman loves his work and it shows.

Roman has done several projects for us over the years, and always brings a unique and creative perspective to anything that he does. He does every project completely - from installation of hardscape materials, water features, fire pits, lighting, to all plant materials. With his assistant, Mike, they are completely committed to the project from start to finish. With each project, Roman takes the time to provide a space that is both functional and beautifully creative. We would highly recommend Landscape 2000 for any project.

Roman is a perfectionist as well as an artist. It took us almost two years to convince him to do some landscaping in our backyard. Not only was Roman very busy but I believe that he was hesitant because he did not have a vision of what our backyard could be. However, once Roman started he did a magnificent job. Our backyard went from being a fairly standard yard to a place of beauty complete with a very natural looking waterfall and pond, a magnificent fire pit, a set of stairs meticulously crafted stone by stone, a rustic wooden arbour and a wrought iron gate. Everyone that visits us comments on our beautiful yard. Moreover, not only was the finished product exceptional, Roman and his apprentice, Mike, unfailingly showed up at our home first thing each morning, rain or shine, for many months to work on this project. My husband and I could not be more pleased with the wonderful oasis that Roman created for us.

Honestly there are few words to describe how incredible the work done by Roman and Landscape 2000 is. However, a few words come to mind... inspiring, innovative, original, inventive and way beyond creative. Roman worked on the landscape while our Company built the home. It was a pleasure to watch his landscape creation evolve. This particular job was a difficult terrain with many slopes and grades. He turned the existing landscape into a beautiful paradise with amazing rock work and waterfalls. Roman is extremely professional and truly loves and cares about his creations. We had an extremely happy client!

Roman Schweizer and his team at Landscape 2000 completely landscaped our Home. We have gone from what I could only describe as an eyesore to an award winning Property. We initially decided to use Roman based on his previous work and his ability to understand our vision for the Property. He combines what I would describe as "old school " European artisanal skills ,that extremely hard to find these days, with an artistic flair that truly transforms a landscape. Roman skill not only lies in the quality of his work but in how it blends with the environment and home. Landscaping of this quality comes with a cost but we believe that additional value attributed to our property more than compensates. In addition, Roman created various gardens, stone fire pits and water features on the Property that we use and enjoy on a regular basis. We are lucky to have had Roman landscape our home and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is lucky enough to be able to have Landscape 2000 work on their property.

Professional and Accommodating Working with Roman and his assistant (apprentice) Mike have been a nothing short of a great experience. Being able to leave home in the morning knowing that the outcome of the day will meet my expectations for a final produce, a living landscape. The professional attitude and the overall experience brought together with a caring concern for workmanship and a quality product sets Landscape 2000 apart from most landscape contractors and has elevated them to a level that other contractors should strive to attain.

Roman Schweizer of Landscape 2000 was hired to design and build our backyard over 20 years ago. He built an interlocking brick patio with steps, a sandbox for the children, lawn, and various plants and flower beds to fit in with the natural surroundings of our Upper Lonsdale neightbourhood. Now, 26 years later, the backyard still looks as beautiful as it did when it was built. We never had to do any repairs to the brick patio or any of the steps. Landscape 2000 did solid work, with a practical beautiful design, that lasted for so many years, and will still last for many years to come. Recently they have added a water feature which gives it an updated look. We continue to enjoy our garden created by Landscape 2000 year after year.
