We recently had the pleasure of working with Mike Schellhaas and Schellhass Landscape Construction, LLC on a paver patio, grill island, and fire pit project, and the results exceeded all our expectations. We met Mike at the South Hills Home Show at Cool Springs, and from our initial meeting to the final touches, his professionalism and attention to detail was outstanding. The design process was seamless, and Mike provided us with professional 3D designs and offered creative solutions that perfectly matched our vision. Mike, the owner, came out for the estimate and thoroughly explained a detailed plan with options for me for my complicated retaining wall. The crew was punctual, professional, and so kind. Mike and his crew did a fantastic job replacing my 20+ year old wooden retaining wall. I live in a townhouse with limited access to the backyard. So, the crew had to tear down the old wall by hand and haul away all the debris. They did an impressive amount of manual labor. Within two days, I had a new wall installed and river rock put down along the back of the house. Mike even removed a section of old mulch and replaced it with grass seed. He quickly responded to my initial inquiry and with the weather being in the upper 40s/low 50s in the beginning of January, he was able to get the job done a lot sooner than I had anticipated. Mike and his crew were friendly and professional and didn't mind me asking some questions during the construction process. I would definitely recommend them for any landscaping needs.

We hired Shellhaas Landscaping to complete a major retaining wall, front entrance, and driveway project in early 2021. From beginning to end Mike and his crew were the ultimate professionals and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. During the initial walk-down, Mike took his time, asked questions, and took meticulous measurements to submit an accurate proposal which was right in line with the other bids we received. In addition to his attention to detail during bidding, their some-what unexpected immediate available solidified the decision to award the work to Schellhaas. During construction we had the same crew leader and nearly all the same workers throughout the duration of the work. The crew arrived consistently on time and cleaned up at the conclusion of each work day. Work was completed on time and within the budget quoted; a small change order we requested was the only deviation from the original quote. As far as quality, not enough can be said. The materials chosen (actually recommended by Schellhaas) and the quality of installation are impeccable and we consistently get compliments from our neighbors. Our only regret is that Schellhaas only does hardscapes as we would gladly hire them for other projects! Their attention to detail and customer service should serve as a model to all contractors!

Mike and his crew just completed a retaining wall in our backyard for us. His quote was very reasonable for the project and his communication was very good. The wall turned out great. His crew was very professional. The job was completed exactly according to his quote.

I hired Schellhaas to replace my sagging driveway retaining wall in 2021. I chose to give Schellhaas five stars for several reasons. They do great work, and his crew takes their craft very seriously. It was very reassuring for a work crew to show up and not be composed of rotating day laborers with minimal experience. The installers are very knowledgeable and take the time to do the job correctly and don't mind taking time to explain what they are doing (if asked). Also, Mike, the owner, is very responsive and keeps communication open. He returns phone calls, e-mails, or texts in a very timely manner which is tough to find in a contractor. He also bids jobs appropriately. Too often contractors underbid a project just to hit you with expensive change orders at the end. This did not happen. Any issues that occurred during the project were very clearly discussed, and options provided. They are my first call for all projects going forward.

Built me a 490 sq foot paver patio, rebuilt retaining walls, built a 10 foot tall stone fireplace. Quality was great, people awesome. Stayed until it was all done and done right. Showcased to family and friends. Highly recommend!

Mike came out to install a timber frame style covered porch for us. Mike and his guys showed up every day until the project was completed. Their attention to detail took away the anxiety of worrying about the project being done right. SLC built us a paver patio, a beautiful, massive grill island with a granite countertop, and a natural gas fireplace. Mike and his crew are professionals in every sense. He listens to ideas, researches answers to questions, and doesn't hesitate to consult with other professionals. He made our decisions about colors, textures, and materials easy because he has a great eye for envisioning how everything coordinates in the end.
