With more than 15 years of painting in homes for local companies, Byrd went out on her own. Her skills and experience gave her a foot in the door of this competitive business, but her incredible eye for detail and insistence on giving the best quality possible has put her in her own category of excellence. Painting kitchen cabinets has become Byrd's specialty. She has created her own process to keep it cleanly contained and leave a beautiful high quality finish, Starting with constructing a plastic bubble from ceiling to floor to keep the mess to a minimum, surface preparation and small repairs are done. All cabinet doors and pieces are brought to her workshop to be painted separately and dried. Using her own equipment, she sprays an even primer on the cabinet base and then topcoat colour of the client's choosing. When dry and finished, she removes the plastic bubble and takes the mess with her. Once the doors are completed, she returns to install them with all hardware and handles.
