Modified Tones Painting

Absolutely fantastic! I cannot say enough good things about him. His work is beautiful. He is so fast and professional yet friendly. He could not have been nicer to our kids, our dog and especially our cat (who I am sure was in his way).

We've contracted with Dewey of Modified Tones Painting 3 times for painting projects. He is easy to work with, and does very high quality work with immaculate cleanup afterward. He's done basic room painting as well as faux paint finishes to our complete satisfaction. Most recently, he amazed us by transforming our plain oak fireplace mantle into a beautiful dark mahogany-look complete with natural looking wood grain using his faux painting techniques. I will be contacting him again to work the same magic on the interior side of our new front door. We highly recommend him.

Mr. Schaut refinished our hardwood floors. Because our home was about fifty years old and the floors had been carpeted multiple times by previous owners, restoring these floors was no easy task. The original flooring was a light oak, but after sanding, he recommended that we select a darker stain to hide imperfections. There was the issue that the wooden trim was also light. Mr. Schaut mixed a matching stain varnish that he applied to the trim. Our floors and the trim are beautiful and easy to maintain. He was meticulous in his work and his effort to keep the house free of dust created by the sanding. We could not be happier with the results.

We have been using Modified Tones for professional looking projects for roughly 10 years. He has done ceilings, steel doors made to look like they were made from wood, taken wall paper off office walls and repainted using the faux technique. Excellent results! We also had new construction with conference room completed with the faux painting technique, he is an expert in his field. His projects are always completed neatly, in a timely manner and cleaned up afterwards.

Dewey Schaut (Modified Tones) has done painting in my home on three different occasions. I was very pleased with both his work and his personality. I operate an in home daycare and it takes a special person to make their way around children while doing a job. He was both friendly and tolerant of the many questions. His painting is very neat and he takes great care to not get paint anywhere it doesn't belong. I could not find a drop on my carpet or furniture when he finished. I especially love the finish he did on my dining room walls. He took them from an ugly dark paper/wood paneling to a gorgeous wallpaper like finish complete with veins of 24k gold paint to make it pop. He also added a few little touches like gold trim on my pillar bottoms and gold wood trim around the room dividers. It made a huge difference in the look of the room. I have seen other faux finishes he has completed for others and was very impressed with them as well. If you want something different in a finish other than a plain one color wall give him a call. I'd also like to add he is very good at listening to what you want in a finished project and will get it done promptly and to your liking.

By matching the colors of our fireplace Mr. Schaut converted a concrete basement floor into a work of art. Each "stone" was individually drawn and painted- no two are alike. The floor is easy to clean, requiring only a damp mop. Mr. Schaut also suggested a paint color for two of the walls which brings the room together and adds warmth. Mr. Schaut's artistic talent is matched only by his craftsmanship and work ethic-a true professional.

We hired Modified Tones Painting to paint and refinish our kitchen and bathroom walls. He applied a two-tone textured surface and, he also wood grained baseboards and cabinets. He did an excellent job and it was exactly what we wanted. I would rehire Dewey again in the future.

I have custom kitchen cabinets in white. Unfortunately, the finish was not holding up well at all. Because of the lacquer finish, I could find no one willing to repaint them. I searched for several years. Then some one recommended this company. Dewey took each door off, sanded them down and ended up applying several coats of paint to get the finish he wanted. The doors have glass with panes in them! It was not an easy task! I am thrilled with the job he did, they look brand new! The price was right, and he kept the area neat and clean and did the job in a short amount of time...would highly recommend Modified Tones Painting!!!

Very difficult repair was done with expert precision after a torrential rain storm caused a leak in my roof that had water run into my living room destroying a section of my crown moulding plaster ceiling. He finished the job beautifully leaving a restored ceiling perfect.
