The Final Coat

I used the Final Coat for a full house paint and carpentry repair for a rental property. To be clear, the house was in dire need of a paint job, and had a decent amount of wood rot. This was a difficult job to a) complete and b) price out. In fact, I solicited multiple bids, and while Final Coat wasn’t the least expensive, I had great faith in their ability to get the job done well while treating me fairly. I made a great choice. Ted and his team finished on time, and the final job was done extremely well and professionally. Even better, my gut instinct that they would treat me fairly was validated. They uncovered a few items after they started the work that would require a little more budget. They communicated these to me, explained what was going on and why it was necessary. However, there was one item that slipped through the cracks, and Final Coat called me and worked through a solution we were both happy with. At the end of the day, I received a great final product, on time at a fair price. I couldn’t really ask for more than that. They are responsive, and treat their customers well. I would use them again and recommend to friends and family. I am also looking forward to the free touch-ups that are included with their service!

I moved into a new house and was confronted by my home needing an exterior painting face-lift. My home dates back to the 1920’s and showed signs of many years of wear and build up of paint. The build up of paint in some areas resembled alligator skin. I wanted to remedy the peeling and alligator skin build up without loosing the character and charm that original wood siding gives an older home. I headed to the Internet and was fortunate to come in contact with The Final Coat. I was quickly setup with an appointment for an assessment of my project. I met with The Final Coat owner/manager Ted Wetzel. Upon a timely arrival, Ted started to inspect the exterior of my home and at same time asked me questions about my expectations for the project. I expressed my desire to deal with the years of paint build up and damaged areas of the homes exterior. I was presented with a large knowledge of different products and methods to combat issues with the exterior paint conditions of my home. Upon coming to an understanding of my goal and what it would take to reach it, Ted quoted me a fair price. The amount of surface prep and man-hours associated with doing a professional job correlated to the quoted price. I am a veteran and first time homeowner who had recently relocated to the area. I would not be able to afford his services, but was against trying to shop for a potentially lower priced unprofessional company that would throw up paint without the necessary preparation to ensure a good lasting final product. Rather than giving me a quote and running off to the next job, Ted discussed potential solutions for me to achieve my goal. I took on the project myself and with the professional opinion and advice finished my project. I have a new found respect for the proper exterior preparation and painting of a home. I have kept in contact with Ted Wetzel and have met with different members of his crews over the past few years. The Final Coat and its professional knowledgeable crews are highly recommended by me!

We have used Ted and his team from The Final Coat for many years. In the past 12 months, we have used them for several large projects at our home: exterior painting and trim repair; ceiling repair and painting; and wallpaper removal and painting in three separate rooms. We contracted with The Final Coat for an exterior job painting the front sections and doors of our house. I initially contacted Ted Wetzel by email and he responded promptly and within a few days was at the house to evaluate the job. He sent a comprehensive quote quickly thereafter which we accepted and we were put in line for the job and then waited....through the rainiest season in years. When we were next up, we received calls a few weeks in advance and then several times leading up to the point of the specific date. Ted's crew, led by Mike, showed up as promised (with a plate of homemade cookies, I might add) and laid out the work plan and timing. Ted then checked in with us to see if all was satisfactory. Mike and John were great--they showed up promptly each day and at the end of each day left a thorough status report. We had to make a course correction upon not liking one of the colors, and Mike took care of it without any issues. He updated our quote based on some unanticipated scraping that was needed and clearly showed why it was necessary and what it would cost. At the end of the job, they left a color chart and told us they would come back if there were any issues at all. The office crew followed up several times thereafter. I cannot say enough good things about The Final Coat. Absolute professionals, constant customer service, thorough in every respect, no surprises, no messes, constant communications and no need for constant follow-up. They weren't the cheapest option we had, but I'm now convinced they were the best--we got everything we paid for and more.

I hired The Final Coat to remove wallpaper and then paint my dining room. The entire world experience was FANTASTIC! Everyone from the owner, Ted Wetzel, to the office manager, to the workers were top notch...courteous and professional. I have recommended the company to everyone I know, and everybody has loved The Final Coat!

The Final Coat have very respectful and professional personnel working for them. The first coat of paint on our kitchen cabinets was not finished as well as we had hoped. It turned out that there was a problem with the prep work, which caused the paint not to adhere properly. When we advised The Final Coat of this problem they sent their workers out to take all of the doors and drawer fronts back to their place to strip, prep, and repaint all of them. They turned out really well done the second time. The Final Coat stands behind their work and will do everything they can until you are completely satisfied with the job.

Our most recent project completed by Mike Folden of The Final Coat turned out beautifully! The project involved repairing stress cracks and drywall tape peeling, followed by repainting a room with slanted gable walls. He also painted a never painted ceiling. Lastly he repaired all the poster tape tears and thumb tack holes in a closet, followed by repainting. Mike was such a quiet worker, I barely knew he was here. He was diligent about covering furniture and carpeting to protect against dust and paint. He even vacuumed up the dust and bugs that remained after furniture and boxes were moved prior to painting! His painting around the ceiling and framework was very precise. When he finished the project, the only sign we had of him was a fantastic painting job AND vacuumed carpet. We will ALWAYS use The Final Coat for any painting projects!

These folks are professional and respectful from the estimator to the painters to the secretaries to the president. We especially liked their senses of humor. When they gave us a day or a time, they were there or they called. They painted our two smaller bedrooms, one with an abundance of woodwork and a large half-moon window. Not a speck of paint on any of the wood. They also painted the ceilings. They painted a wall and had to start over because we did not like the color we had picked out. No problem. Even offered to change the ceiling fan bulbs while they were "up there." We would hire this group again in a heartbeat.

We are very happy to recommend Ted Wetzel and his crews. We are so pleased with them that we have used them several times. The most recent job was the largest. It involved rethinking and redoing the exterior painting on out home. Ted's people spent literally hours on the design and the color scheme. On multiple occasions, they walked us around the house asking for our thoughts and giving us their ideas. The result was a really satisfying scheme. And when it came to actually doing the painting, Final Coat was quite efficient. As the icing on the cake, they were able to do a complex repair on a bedroom window that had been out of commission for quite while. My wife reminded me that on an earlier job (repainting a bedroom) , she asked for a higher gloss on the ceiling paint. It was done quickly, cheerfully and with no charge. Simply put, this is a classy operation. Customers come first with them!

The work provided by Final Coat was exceptional. Each and every employee with whom I interacted was professional, friendly, extremely competent and cared about completing my project in a timely and efficient manner. Their work ethic was excellent and they treated my home as if it were theirs - being very careful to leave my home clean at the end of each day. Their attention to detail was exemplary. And I would like to give a special thank you to Ted Wetzel, president of the company. He was the one who came to my home, explained all facets of their work and who oversaw the project. I absolutely highly recommend this company.

The Final Coat is a fantastic vendor to work with. Ted was extremely thorough in the estimating process and not just in a hurry to quote a job. The painter who performed the work (painting kitchen and bathroom cabinets) was extremely neat and clean and very respectful of our home. His tape lines between the cabinets and walls were perfect. I would highly recommend The Final Coat for any painting job inside or outside of your home.

We are very pleased with the work The Final Coat did for us. The project consisted of rehabilitating wooden siding, shutters and deck. Our house was built in 1942 and is an English Tudor Cottage style with a brick first floor and mostly wormy chestnut wooden siding above. Some of the wood was rotted or dried out, warped and cracked. The first stage of the project was a careful review with the company's carpenter and consultation about what could be done to save what could be saved and replace that which couldn't. Once carpentry repairs were completed all seams were carefully caulked and two coats of solid stain were applied to the house and one coat to the deck. Each day began with a consultation about the work intended for the day and we received a written summary at the end of each work day that listed what was accomplished, what was planned for the next day, and the total man hours invested so far. The company's personnel were careful of our property and respectful. They made sure we understood any unexpected issues that were found and agreed with the recommended actions before those issues were addressed. They took special care to find a color match on the deck for a semitransparent stain that was already present on the deck floor. The quality of all work done is excellent.
