In 1993, no one had ever heard of “fire ant control”. The horse farmers in Ocala only knew that fire ants were a nuisance and a threat and there was no getting rid of them. It took owners Jim and Debbie Stine some hard convincing that their application service would work. In fact, one of the very first customers (a well-known farm manager in Marion County) told Jim, “If this works, you’ll be in business. If not, you might as well pack up your bags.”, because that shrewd manager knew the power of word-of-mouth. Over 20 years later, ESI is the largest and most successful fire ant control company in the state of Florida.
