Maureen is a fantastic architect, knowledgeable, easy to work with and collaborative. It was a complicated project combining an ADU with a separate project for a second story addition. She provided not only an outstanding design but great practical advice as well. Her team also built our addition and ADU,was professional, finished on schedule and was a joy to work with. The quality of the work is outstanding.

Maureen and her team are a pleasure to work for and their projects are managed both proficiently and professionally. Their eye for design and detail is impeccable, and the relationships they build with their clientele and subcontractors are unmatched. They treat everyone with respect and find value in transparency. Working with Epic was as good as it gets. I really appreciated the honest and upfront dealings. I knew what the costs would be from the start. When there were minor issues (as there always are when renovating an entire kitchen), Epic addressed them quickly and fairly. Their subcontractors were good (especially their tile installer, who was phenomenal). We were living in the house as they completed work on the kitchen and they worked with us so that we had minimal downtime of the sink, which we greatly appreciated (washing dishes in the bathtub is no fun!). They were also able to stick to the planned timeline. Overall, I would highly recommend Epic and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Epic Design Build - consummate professionals! We gave them our basic ideas for renovating our 1960's OC home. They transformed it into a gorgeous Craftsman Style retreat - complete with handmade wood cabinets, marble and granite kitchen countertops, and colorful tile work that accents the kitchen and the entire family living space. Jim, Maureen and their team met the promised deadlines and delivered a Show Case home beyond our imagination. I highly recommend them for their quality workmanship, their ability to listen and accurately deliver what is promised, and for the efficiency of their business -the office staff is also excellent!

We did a major remodel of our Master Bedroom and Ensuite with Epic Design. Epic was very professional throughout the process. They met with us regularly to come up with a design that fit our needs, wants and style. They took care of everything with regards to designing to code and getting the necessary permits. We are really happy with how our project turned out. It has the "wow" factor we were looking for and we feel that we have a showcase bedroom/ensuite that we can be proud of. Overall I would recommend Epic Design Build for your remodeling project. We have worked with them twice and have been satisfied both times. Maureen is very knowledgeable on design matters and seems to hire very good, competent sub-contractors. We were generally happy with all the work they did for us. The site manager was very responsive and spent a good amount of time checking on the progress of the work. Epic worked hard with our flooring contractor to obtain materials from a company that was temporarily closed down. All went well until the reinstallation of our bathroom toilet. We could not seem to get it to flush properly, despite the Epic installer determining otherwise. After some appeals to Epic for a remedy, which went unheeded, we decided to replace the toilet. (That took an inordinate amount of time for us). A couple of the plumbers that worked on our project told us, "as a general rule, you should always replace bathroom fixtures during a remodel". That seems to be sound advice to consider! Again, we recommend Epic to take care of your remodel project.

I highly recommend working with Maureen and her team for your remodeling projects. In the spring of 2020 they completed a much-needed second bathroom addition to my house....in the middle of a pandemic with all of us working and schooling from home. It could have been a nightmare, but the work was beautifully done, and the crews were uniformly thoughtful, safe, and prompt. We had just bought a 100 year old home that was about 3500 sq feet and wanted to basically remodel/re-design the entire interior, redesign and update the exterior, build and attach a 3 car garage, as well as add on square footage for a new owner’s suite. Our final square footage ended up being about 4600 sq ft. We selected Epic to work with after carefully interviewing 7 firms. Epic was the only firm where both the designer/contractor, and lead contractor came out to see the house and gave me ideas on the spot of how my wishlist for the remodel could be accomplished m. Design fees were reasonable and ended up being about 8% of the construction costs. Their contracting and pricing process was transparent and allowed us to add in or take out line items based on need and budget. Epic’s experience led to thoughtful design plans that were actually buildable and solved lots of problems we originally had with the house while preserving a challenging sloping roofline. The originally house easily had around 800 sq feet of unusable space due to sloped ceilings or unfinished laundry/utility room. The reimagined plans involved moving the staircase from one side of the house to the other, and ended up creating an efficient layout throughout. Epic’s work and problem solving ability was also of high quality. Many guests have commented on the quality of our tile work, paint jobs, and custom cabinetry. I would highly recommend this well-run family business for your remodels!

We hired Epic to redesign our family room, kitchen, dinning room and living room into a great room. They were very creative, detailed and gave us multiple options to choose from. One of the best thing they did was to give us a realistic estimate and time line for the project. Maureen also gave us very good suggestions of appliances and fixtures. All of the trade people they used were very friendly and professional. And Danny the project manager kept us informed as to who was coming and what they would be working on. Maureen listened to what we wanted our living space to be, & delivered more than we expected. We hired Epic to remodel our pool house as a studio apartment. Maureen, Jim and Thomas were very professional and responsive to our design requirements. Danny was on site on a regular basis and did a great job. Epic's subcontractors were friendly and took pride in their work. The extension appears seamless, and we are very pleased with the result.

The design and construction team at Epic Design Build are true professionals. We live in a 140-year old historic house that presents any number of challenges to most contractors. The team at Epic produced a top quality product, extending our outdoor living space with the addition of a timber pergola, concrete steps and pilasters and a bocce court. This was a challenging project to integrate a new structure with our historic dwelling. The communication was excellent through the design, permitting and construction process, and the project came in on budget and exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Epic Design Build.

My wife and I have hired Epic Design Build several times, and are very satisfied customers. Epic took on the biggest project in 2007, expanding the size of our home by 50%. Since then, they have upgraded the kitchen, overseen the complete re-landscaping of the house, and renovated two bathrooms. Not only is the quality of the work very high, and the price fair, but they are excellent people to deal with: no surprises, no overlooked details, always easy to get in touch with and get questions answered. We have recommended Epic to many people who have come to our home and admired the improvements.

Epic Design Build is a great company run by professional and kind people. We are still undergoing a significant renovation to our home, but it has been a pleasure working with the staff. The completed aspects of the renovation have received a lot of praise from our family and friends. Despite the delays Maureen and the staff have had obtaining permits with LA County, they have worked hard to adhere to the timelines proposed and had a sunny disposition while keeping us in the loop with the delays. We hope this is our only renovation, but should it not be, we would gladly use the company again in the future. Not only are they professional and do great work, but they are unbelievably thoughtful. They even sent a care package when they found out that I was sick during my pregnancy.

I don't have enough good things to say about Epic Design Build. From start to finish these are the most competent, professional, thorough and talented design and build professionals out there. Their knowledge of design, combined with ability to execute a difficult project (a home addition that nearly matched the size of the initial home combined with a large basement) made them stand apart. Finally, their ability to manage subcontractors and ensure a very high level of quality was exceptional. We created a space with a basement, multiple closets, kitchenette, fireplace, a two room suite, etc, etc. And everything is just gorgeous. Building a home addition is very stressful but knowing these guys were executing the project made it actually enjoyable!

It was a pleasure working with Maureen, Jim and the entire Epic team. Having them take charge of our home renovation made the process much easier for us (think one-stop shopping). They provided us with a lot of guidance (as this was our first home remodel), but were also very good at listening to what we wanted.

We brought all of our many dreams to Maureen, and she, along with Jim and Charlie, helped us to see what we could do and some things we had not even thought we could do. My wife and I fell in love with a graceful old lady of a Grove House and bought her as quickly as we could. She was from 1928 and had held up beautifully, but wasn't without signs of wear. Previous owners had taken care of her, with the best of intentions and fullest of hearts, but hadn't always taken care of her in the best possible way. We spent a year observing our new old home. We wanted her to tell us what she needed and wanted to understand how she came to be. We realized that we loved the 1920's and were less fond of the renovations done in the 1960's and 2000's. Even though well done, the mid-century modern kitchen did not quite belong in the Monterey Revival home. After interviewing many, many professionals, we found EPIC Design Build and the husband and wife team of Maureen and Jim. My wife and I appreciated their approach, energy and enthusiasm. Their skills were evident and so the choice became easy. EPIC prefers a thoughtful and reasoned approach to the process. There is quite a bit of talking and listening. We felt as though our thoughts were heard, no matter how outlandish. They were often met with a smile and suggestions. Just because we are the customer, doesn't mean we are always right. The design process took some time, and, during it, we decided our project would be divided into three phases. An 88 year old house is not going to be without complications, so we felt it best to minimize some of the construction concerns and mitigate some of the costs. Phase one consisted of moving the laundry room from the kitchen to the garage and re-doing the guest bathroom. A small room was build into the garage, leaving room enough for two cars and storage. The tired 1960's pink tile and sheet linoleum guest bathroom was made resplendent in black and white with subway and hexagonal tiles. The original medicine cabinet was refinished and shines in its newfound glory. The original cast-iron bathtub was decorated with an intricate, yet classic, tile pattern above it. The bathroom turned out better than hoped. The laundry room is as wonderful as a laundry room can be. Phase two was to correct some of the mistakes of the 2000's. The original garage had been converted to a "bonus" room and the master bathroom had been converted to a shame. Both places were made dark by the withholding of the ample natural light. Maureen, Jim and their team worked particularly hard at crafting a beautiful, brightly lit marble bathroom, walk-in closet and dressing area. They also transformed a dull and dark old-garage/bonus room/dungeon into a bright, fun, rustic and charming indoor/outdoor living space. Along the way, they corrected saggy rooflines, bulging walls, ancient wiring and creative plumbing. Phase three is planned for a future date and will turn a minty green kitchen into a gleaming cathedral of cooking. It will also be when the last of the three bathrooms is stripped of it's cultured marble and green speckled tile. We are looking forward to the effort. As the project progressed and many old-house problems appeared, each was handled thoughtfully and throughly. The work was done as promptly as circumstances would allow and fairly close the estimated deadline. EPIC would most likely have finished on time if we hadn't made so many adjustments. These projects were not inexpensive, but we felt a century house was deserving of the investment. When we purchased the grove house, we knew it would take a decade or so to make everything just right. There is still a long way to go and we plan to go there with EPIC.

Epic Design has done a complete remodel for us. Maureen and Jim, along with the rest of their people and subs have been great to work with. Maureen has great vision of what we wanted and how to make it come together. To be honest we only met with one contractor for this job but we knew right away there was no need to contact anyone else. All the way through this process (just over 50% done now) they've proven our decision to be a good one.

Epic Design Build, Inc is a quality company. We had a lanai and our backyard landscaped by Epic a couple years ago. I developed respect and admiration for their company during that process and re-hired them for our current kitchen and master bathroom remodels. Maureen, Jim, and their employees are true professionals. Maureen meets with her clients first and goes over the project goals and plans. As the architect, she helps design the changes that you want. She is very experienced and has a great eye for design. She is always responsive to questions and takes budget issues into consideration. Jim is the general contractor. He does much of the construction himself and manages the coordination of the project details in concert with Maureen. They both know the local subcontractors and who among them provide quality service. They make a great team and they produce quality projects. If you want the project to be done right the first time, I would hire Epic.

We hired Epic Design Build to remodel our kitchen and great room area. It was a complete gut job. Epic was very easy to work with and we really valued their ideas and expertise. They were very professional and always kept us up to date on the progress. Communication was excellent and they were very approachable when we had any questions. The project was completed on time. We had heard a lot of horror stories about remodeling but Epic was quite the opposite. Very happy with the design, construction, and the finish work.

I hired Epic Design Build to do a major kitchen remodel, one that involved moving doors and one wall. The quality of the workmanship was excellent; small glitches were quickly and completely corrected. What I especially appreciated is the way Maureen and I worked as a team in the design phase. She had a clear and compelling vision of what could work, but she also listened carefully to my ideas and incorporated the best of them into the final design. I'm a college professor; after picking out materials and agreeing on a design, I handed over my keys and left town on sabbatical. The work was done reliably, including being close to on time, with pretty nearly zero oversight. Everyone loves my new kitchen. I'm very glad I worked with Epic Design Build.

Epic Design Build has completed 3 separate construction projects on our home. These include a complete kitchen/family room/exercise room remodel (which required extensive structural work), construction of a temperature controlled wine room and indoor storage room, construction of 2 outdoor pergolas, additional patio and cover, refresh of all interior walls with new paint, etc., design and construction of sauna, 2 complete bathroom remodels and installation of all new windows and sliding doors. All work was first designed and drawn in detail to insure the plan was as we wished. All changes made during construction were met with ease and great care. Costs were up front and detailed invoices were given at each payment request. All employees were honest and hard working and we felt extremely comfortable having them in our home. The owners and employees enjoy their work and it is very important to them that the client is happy. I would recommend this company to anyone who wishes to have a complete design/build experience from start to finish or any other type of remodel work. Remodeling can be quite a challenge for homeowners, but Epic does everything in their power to ease these situations. They keep a very clean and safe work site and are available for any problems that may come up during the entire project. We would hire Epic again (and only Epic) for any future remodel projects we might have.

I was extremely pleased with the overall level of professionalism, accuracy to details and the quality of the materials used to complete my home rebuild. Maureen listened to my desires and tried to do all that she could to ensure I was satisfied. She gathered samples and colors, drove me to various sites to select floorings, cabinets, doors stains. She recommended sited for me to select all of the household fixtures for lightening and plumbing. She and the entire Epic team were understanding of the pressure my husband and I had as we processed through the many work order changes we requested and received, and the Epic team maintained a professional attitude through it all. Epic completed a full remodel of our home in 2008; the work included everything from floor to ceiling and custom cabinets throughout the house. Our budget was about $250,000, and Epic finished up both on budget and on time. Can't say enough great thing about their exemplary, trustworthy team.
