David is an artist, a translater, a medium who was able to read my mind . I knew the look and feel I wanted for our front garden that posed several challenges, and David gave us a magical space that people would go out of their way, on walks, to experience. It gave so many people, ourselves primarily, pleasure over the years. David's talents are good for the soul.

David's passion for beautiful, personal, and practical gardens is demonstrated throughout your time working with him. He understood our drainage problems and our vision for a small but characterful oasis in our garden. I've learned never to doubt his vision, as it all proves even more lovely than expected. To work with David Scott is a special privilege. Eight years ago David designed and created a garden that compliments and enhances my home in every way, every day. David listened, really listened, to what I wanted to achieve. He thought deeply about the site, the climatic conditions, my personal likes and dislikes, my lifestyle and my budget. Throughout the design and installation process, and in the the years since, David has sourced the highest quality materials, the most skilled complimentary tradespeople, and the finest and most suitable plants. David is a true artist. He well deserves the loyalty and great respect his many clients have for him.

In the Fall of 2021 David landscaped and installed a drainage system in my garden. The house was built in 1907 on Cobourg Street in Stratford, Ontario. An extension was added in 2020-2021. The lot was left as clay mud with many drainage problems. After many creative water solutions and a low maintenance garden were completed, the property functioned and had a beautiful personalized appearance. We no longer have a water problem in the basement. It was always a pleasure to work with David on this challenging project. He always listened carefully to our garden dreams and translated them beautifully into reality.

David has done a wonderful job re-inventing our garden as a grass-free space. He has a wonderful vision and has gently guided us through, combining our ideas with his experience and talent. We chose David to help us as he already had a stellar reputation in our neighbourhood, which he has lived up to in every way. Having David in our garden has always been a calm and positive experience, tasks have been completed on schedule ( weather and plant availability permitting!), and colleagues who have come in to assist have been similarly skilled, visionary and efficient. David is a consummate professional, albeit one with exquisite taste. He thinks through a plan with a critical eye and invariably comes up with the perfect solution. He’s a joy to work with, and always assesses the needs of the client before presenting a plan. He’s there to see through the entire job, in his calm and competent way. David has done work for our family for many years, including a complete (and absolutely breathtaking!) makeover of the double lot at our former family home. He also completely redid the landscaping at our cottage property (shortly after we purchased it) in order to simplify it and make it fit more conveniently into our cottage lifestyle. He continues to both maintain and improve the landscaping there to provide us with a warm, welcoming property with an eye to also providing sufficient (and natural) privacy from neighbouring cottages. Working with David has always been a wonderful experience in that he’s consistently “in tune” with what will work best for both the property and the owners. David is an artist. He understands form, perspective, texture, colour. He designs intuitively and thoughtfully, however always careful to honour his clients wishes. His knowledge of plants and tress, and everything green is infinite. It’s a joy to brainstorm with him and see him create inspired outdoor spaces.

David created a beautiful garden to complete our home on the shores of Lake Huron. The garden absolutely suits the area, is easy to maintain and always looks lovely. Over The past 22 years David has created three and a half gardens for us. We moved before one was completed. Each has been exciting and different but always being “our” garden rather than the designer’s. David has a unique talent of creating magic where none previously existed. Our gardens have ranged from seven acres to pocket handkerchief in size but in every one the topography has been totally recognised so that the garden has become integrated into its surroundings.
