My wife and I desperately needed to upgrade some of the remaining siding on our house and garage (they were half James Hardie/half cedar shingle), along with some window replacement, and trim. We opted to go with KAJ Construction, as they specialized in James Hardie. This company did not disappoint. They were punctual and detailed in every way; from the initial review of the job site, to the detailed written agreement of work to be done. The quality of their work was was absolutely top-notch. The work site was always kept clean. The added insulation below the James Hardie siding, has already resulted in a lowering of our electric usage--this during a recent N.E. heatwave. As to our window replacement, I have to say that the indoor trim work was outstanding. If we ever find ourselves in need of additional work, I would not hesitate for a second, to call on Alecandro and his team. Six stars.

I worked with Kevin and Alecandro from KAJ last summer to replace my old dry cedar shingle with Hardie siding and replace all my wood trim with PVC. Kevin was so helpful ahead of time, answering any and all of my many questions without ever talking down to me as a woman. They did a wonderful job! The work crew assigned to my job worked diligently and efficiently, were quiet and polite, and cleaned up every day. Alecandro checked in every day on site, and was available for any question that came up. It’s now been 8 months since they finished the job, no errors have arisen, and I still just LOVE how my house looks. I would recommend KAJ without reservation as an honest, trustworthy construction company.

KAJ Construction was great! They redid our deck for us and it was a smooth process. They were upfront and honest with us about pricing and timing of the project. Open communication, so we would always have know what was going on with our project. I would highly recommend.

Our experience from KAJ Construction was fantastic from start to finish. In the fall of 2024 we requested quotes from a number of contractors for our (fairly big) project . . . the house needed all siding and exterior trim replaced plus a number of new windows including two large bays. The estimator and project manager Kevin Foley came out and met with us several times to review the project, our options, and also provided us a lot of advice during the process that would have been helpful irrespective of whether we decided to move forward with KAJ. The quote we received from KAJ was fair and transparent, which was not the case with many of the other contractors we spoke with. The combination of the fair quote, our discussions with Kevin Foley, and a review of the company’s past work gave us confidence that KAJ Construction was the best choice for the job and we engaged them for our project. The crew showed up on time every day and were very professional for the entire duration. After stripping the existing siding there was a significant amount of rotten wood including a portion of the sill that needed to be replaced (which we anticipated given the poor state of the home exterior); KAJ was able to replace all necessary spots and did so at a reasonable cost. The owner of the company, Alecandro Carvalho, as well as Kevin Foley the project manager came by frequently to check on the progress and review the work with us. They were both extremely communicative throughout the project and were also a great resource for us in terms of what we wanted for a finished product. As part of the project we decided to replace all of the windows (30+) as well as an exterior door; while we initially thought this would have been out of our budget KAJ was able to get us great pricing on some quality windows and it made sense to replace them all at once. The window installation went seamlessly and they replaced and painted all of the interior window trim for us as well. Additionally the ceiling in our sunroom had significant water damage due to leaks with the prior windows, which KAJ was able to replace, insulate, and paint for us. Overall the house came out great. We are extremely happy with the new siding and windows and the quality of the workmanship done by KAJ. Every little detail was taken care of, down to the installation of new exterior light fixtures, a flag mount, and house numbers. Working with Alecandro and Kevin was a pleasure for the entire time, and we would highly recommend KAJ to others considering a similar home project.

We had our house updated with "Hardie siding" board. The job was well organized and executed per plan. There was a dedicated crew who arrived every day and worked diligently to completion. We had a few change orders that were handled without issue. We encountered a couple of minor problems that were also handled to our satisfaction. The outcome was perfect and has made our house look brand new. We would recommend KAJ Construction to anyone looking for a solid contractor.

KAJ replaced all the windows, siding & moulding on the outside of our house. After 30 years of New England winters, our wooden clapboards were rotting & no longer held paint and our wood windows were mostly stuck or also rotting out. We selected KAJ based on a neighbor's strong recommendation and we were very happy with the results. Kevin came over to assess the scope of the project and presented us with a clear & reasonable bid. Alessandro watched over his employees carefully and came to the job-site regularly to make sure everything was done properly. Edgvar and his crew were professional, efficient and very industrious, working 6 days a week (weather permitting) from sun-up to sun-down. They made repairs on the fly as necessary as they discovered them and cleaned up carefully at the end of each day. We wholeheartedly recommend KAJ and would use them again for any further projects. KAJ Construction recently replaced the original exterior cedar shingle siding, storm doors and most of the windows on my two-story 1950’s cape style house. They installed James Hardie Siding and Harvey windows. I’m really pleased with the process and the results. It’s like a new house! Kevin managed the specs and quoting very professionally and collaboratively, sharing his construction and design expertise as he guided me through many project decisions. He provided clear details about how KAJ would approach the project, materials, extent of work, and expected schedule. The pricing was very competitive, and the work proposed was more thorough and in-line with what I envisioned, compared with other quotes. KAJ connected me with knowledgeable and responsive material suppliers for windows, doors, etc and coordinated all the deliveries, so things went smoothly. They took care of all the required permits. The project happened on schedule, with the crew showing up on time every day, just one day missed because of awful weather, and the crew came Saturday to make up for it. They were pleasant and professional, careful to take care of the property and clean up every day, and respectful, friendly with my neighbors. The quality of workmanship was excellent, including some needed repairs to exterior overhangs and underlying wall surfaces, fabricating and installing new interior trim for all the new windows, and transforming the covered porch- raising the ceiling, and bringing it into this century. KAJ's owner, Alecandro, was frequently onsite. He was great to deal with and kept me updated, checked in frequently. He took care of the few minor glitches (inevitable with an older home and subs) and the small list of “punch-list” items quickly and without issue. Basically, the entire KAJ team was great to work with – knowledgeable, skilled, professional, pleasant, happy to answer questions and work with me as things came up. During the entire process, they were where they said they’d be, doing what they said they’d be doing, when they said they’d be doing it. There were no surprise expenses. I never had to chase them. KAJ exceeded my expectations and I’d be glad to work with them again on a future project.

KAJ construction replaced the siding on our large townhouse condominium with James Hardie siding after the original fiber cement siding failed due to a manufacturing defect. They proposed only the work that was necessary and came in at a very good price. Unfortunately pricing for siding replacement seems to be a free-for-all and prices vary widely - some of the estimates we got were outrageous. KAJ is very professional - they were reliable and careful about taking care of the property when they worked. They cleaned up daily and we never had a problem with nails or other debris. The workers who installed the siding were meticulous - measuring every board and every space. The job was done well, at a fair price, and they were there every day unless weather prevented it. I would use them again and recommend them with confidence.

KAJ was organized and professional from start to finish. They do an excellent job on being up front with scheduling the work and timeline to completion. During construction, they are clean and careful of existing conditions. Overall, if you want a exterior siding/window contractor that will get the job done, use them!

KAJ Construction is a top notch pick for siding and window installation! The KAJ team is professional, prompt, and detail oriented like no other! It was a fantastic consumer experience to have the KAJ team re-side our home in Melrose and install new windows and a front door. Since I work from home, I was a daily witness to the work-ethic of the KAJ employees. They worked tirelessly through a significant heatwave of 90+ degrees, putting in long and very productive days, despite the challenges of the heat. They were responsive to any teeny question or concern that came up- although there really weren't any! I was struck by the positive working relationship between the site manager, company owner, and laborers; everybody was a team player "all-the-way"!. KAJ was candid about timelines and budget, and communicated clearly and with transparency which eliminated the distress that often accompanies home improvement projects. And the result is amazing! KAJ does not cut any corners. The job is solid! Our home looks like new, feels like new with the improvement in insulation and windows, and the increased curb appeal is evident as well. We were referred by the family next door.... and more families in the neighborhood will be using KAJ for their home improvement projects as well. I am happy to highly recommend KAJ Construction.
