Mary was a delight to work with while transforming a cookie-cutter 1966 primary bathroom into a spa ensuite! She is an excellent communicator and talented designer, who developed drawings for a room which met my functional and aesthetic desires and then patiently guiding me through the myriad details and choices of materials. Her crew of professional, talented, and respectful contractors brought the vision to fruition. I highly recommend “That Design Place – Mary T Maurey” and will use her for future projects!

We have hired Mary Maury (That Design Place) many times over the past 35 years to take on major kitchen and bath renovations at our homes. She has done two amazing kitchens for us (one at our previous home, one done 25 years ago at our new home that still works wonderfully); she has also redone our bedroom and turned our master bath into a work of art that functions as both bath and dressing area. I can’t exaggerate how creative Mary is in designing spaces that do exactly what you need them to do and are beautiful to boot. One of the great things about her is that before she begins to design anything she spends a lot of time figuring out how you use your current space, the ways in which your current space doesn’t work for you (areas of clutter, lack of a place to sit down while putting on your shoes, bumping into each other in the kitchen, etc), and what’s important to you to achieve in the remodel. Then she goes to work and produces multiple sketches that are used to refine the ideas and make sure you get what you need. When the time comes for construction, she is well organized, on top of the details, hires great people, and pulls it off flawlessly. After the project is done, she is very responsive when questions or issues arise, and stays with you until they are resolved. Beyond all this, she is a delightful, caring person – she has become our good friend as well as our go-to home design person. If you want a highly talented person who gives her all to each project, Mary is the person to hire.

Mary Maurey designed my kitchen in New York City. The kitchen Mary created was spectacular - it was the heart of our home and afforded us a very unique quality of life in Manhattan. Mary has incredible vision and the ability to execute. She had so many wonderful ideas that came together to create a beautiful, functional and gracious space. From the stepped cabinets to the cubbies above the banquette, everything was thought out to a tee. Mary's long standing relationship with her cabinet maker also contributed to the success of the project. The quality of the cabinets was excellent and they worked together seamlessly. Mary is talented beyond words and I can't imagine someone better to work with.

Mary came to our rescue after a tree fell on our house and demolished the bathroom. We now have a dream spa bathroom, a renewed second bath (picture), and a fabulous kitchen (picture). Mary is knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic, and thoroughly professional. She listened politely to all my crazy ideas and gently suggested ways to improve them. The bathrooms were done about seven years ago and I still walk in and sigh with contentment. (It still looks and feels brand new.) The kitchen was finished last year. It generates smiles and energy for whatever gourmet delight I have in mind. Mary's broad knowledge base made our dreams become reality. Her attention to detail kept us within budget, on time, and delighted with the finished spaces. You can't go wrong with Mary. Big job or little, Mary will give it, and you, her full attention.
