Such a great experience! Karen helped us with designing all the rooms in our house. She was professional, always mindful of my taste and budget. She would take my ideas and help make them a reality plus offering her professional opinion to make our house look polished. She had the difficult task of making our house looked sophisticated, and "grown-up" with two young kids running around, but she was up for the challenge and did a great job!

Marker Girl was amazing to work with on my living room, entry and dining room. Karen took my vague likes and turned them into a design I love. The process was very structured, which kept me from getting overwhelmed. I was very informed throughout the project with updates on things like prices, timelines and furniture choices. I will definitely use Marker Girl for my next project!

I had a wonderful experience working with Karen. She is timely and very professional. I am completely blown away by the renovation. we had over 900 sq feet of new flooring put in, new backsplash, kitchen sink, complete renovation of the powder remove, and all new furniture for the living room. We have two school aged children and a senile dog and Karen helped me determine what would be things that are worth spending more money on (e.g. fabrics that resist stains) and what areas to save money (she found the perfect rug at Lowe's, of all places). I tend to get overwhelmed with choices so when picking out fabrics or tile, she met me at the stores, showed me 2-3 workable options that were in my budget and fit the design that I could pick from. That really helped to make the process fun and not stressful. When it came to the final details of decorating the space, I trust Karen's judgement so much that basically whatever she recommended, I went with and it always looked great. She also works with an amazing contractor (Paul Bjork) who oversaw the flooring and custom made vanity for the powder room. Everyone involved was very professional. I certainly plan to use her services again when we are ready to redo the study and game room in the future.

“Marker Girl” Karen Davis designed our formal living room space. She is the perfect mix of professional and personable, organized and artistic, fastidious and friendly. For the duration of our project, she tracked and clearly communicated costs, deadlines, and installation dates. She stayed on top of third parties, identified mistakes and delays, rectified them, and always let me know right away when there were any delays. She maintains good relationships with dependable third party providers (upholstery, drapery, furniture design, wall art, installers) yet is meticulous about every piece arriving in perfect condition and installed correctly. She listened to our preferences and offered options that are in line with our needs and lifestyle. Although she is truly an artist, I never felt that she was ignoring our needs for the sake of her “vision”. The end result is a room that is both beautiful and durable, as we have a large family with small children. Specifically, She was able to offer us family-friendly upholstery options that are tough and can be easily cleaned; also she was very thoughtful about accessory placement so that breakable items were not in high-traffic areas. We had a great experience with Karen and still love our room after 6 mos. of living in it. And of course we get many compliments on the room.

Working with Marker Girl was better than I could've imagined. I hit it off immediately with Karen, and she was able to bring my vision to life. As a working mom of 2 young kids, it was very important that everything we had was functional (and easily to clean!) but still aesthetically pleasing. Karen knocked it out of the park. She's so easy to work with, very responsive, and just a great person overall. I can't recommend her enough.

This past year, I saw Karen's design work twice on the front page of the Houston Chronicle's Style Section. I loved her use of color and her sophisticated approach to design. The great news is that she is even better in person! She was able to take what I like and make it 1000% better. Karen is a true professional--prompt, diligent, intelligent, easy-going all combined with a great sense of design. The resources and look-book that she put together for the project were excellent. I also appreciated her help with finding the right art for the room. Her art selection made the room pop. She is a pleasure to work with. I'd easily work with her on my next design project.

I found Karen after a search online for an interior designer in Houston. Her style seemed to be similar to mine and I thought we'd be a good fit to work together, and boy was I right! We had a great time working on a few spaces in my new home. I did 2 different design days with her and some other custom hours to help with odds and ends around my home. Karen was very helpful in helping me make my ideas come to life and didn't try to steer me into a style or design that I wasn't comfortable with. We hired Karen for her full service design interior design to redo our office space as well as help us finish accessorizing the large built ins in our great room. Karen is not only kind, professional, listen wells, and comes in on budget, her work is amazing. She truly captured the look and feel we had in our minds while also pushing us to look at things just a little bit differently. This combination lead to two really incredible spaces. Our office is the first space anyone sees as they enter our home, and we are now so proud to have people over and show it off.
