About Us

Ellen Weiss Design works throughout the Seattle area and in many of the communities comprising Seattle's Eastside such as Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah, Redmond, Clyde Hill, Medina and Mercer Island. EWD provide various levels of interior design services and construction oversight depending on the desired project scope. Our interior design services range from a single room refresh to full kitchen and bath remodels, whole house renovation including additions, finish material/furniture/art selection, and general contractor procurement and construction oversight. We work closely with our clients in order to understand the way in which they want to live in their home, their design style and aesthetic preferences, and their budgetary needs. Our goal is to deliver a beautiful, thoughtful and architecturally appropriate design and finished product that is tailored to our client's lifestyle and which they can enjoy for years to come. Ellen Weiss Design also provides landscape design services. We believe that seamlessly integrating your home's landscape with the built structure is crucial for creating a cohesive design and maximizing your home's livability. As landscape designers we promote a strong connection between the interior and exterior of the home. We also promote sustainable gardening and planting practices that encourage and support local wildlife. We strive to design livable and site appropriate landscapes that allow the beauty of the plantings to highlight the home's outdoor living spaces and the building architecture. Ellen Weiss has an AA degree in Interior Design, a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture, and has studied Construction Management. Ellen has designed and overseen construction on very small to large interior and landscape projects.

Ellen was instrumental in helping us come up with all the design elements of our remodeled kitchen, three bathrooms and laundry room. I became obsessed with tile and had a tough time making decisions for floor tiles, wall tiles and shower tiles and we are SO happy with the end result of all our bathrooms and kitchen. She even helped me decide on "fun" wallpaper for a small guest bath. She was always down to earth, professional and an honest, direct communicator. She also was available via text and email and always got back to us quickly. Additionally, Ellen helped us brainstorm the best layout for our living space off our kitchen which has slightly unconventional dimensions and was a bit tricky to figure out how to configure. Thank you Ellen, we recommend your services highly!

From the start Ellen was a very reliable communicator and provided the information I asked for as well as more that I did not think of, for both my deck design and landscape design. And by that I mean that she would call or email promptly and would follow through with appointments and deadlines set. I have been dealing with many contractors for several years now as well as another designer with great frustration, as it seems to NOT be the norm in home improvements for these people to do what they promise, as well as do it right. Ellen's deck design was different than what I had envisioned, and she worked with me to get the final design to my satisfaction. The landscape design needed few changes, and she was able to purchase the plants several days before she said she would, as well as get them placed and oversee the planting. I had complete trust in her vision for a beautiful outcome. I plan on using Ellen exclusively for the completion on my landscaping and some more home improvements planned in the future. I highly recommend her!

Ellen did an excellent job for two of my commercial properties. She worked with my landscaper to decide which plants to keep and which plants to replace. My landscaping had become very over grown after 30 years. It now looks fresh and new at a minimal cost. She did a great job.

Easy to work with, collabrative, and always professional in all facets of the project. A year later, the plants are thriving and ithe area continues to draw praise for its beauty and how it draws people in to sit and relax. Highly recommend.

We hired Ellen to design a new pergola to replace an aging one as well as a deck extension to our existing backyard patio. She provided us with new ideas and layouts, including surrounding landscaping, that made it possible for us to move forward with our project. Using her plans, we were able to hire a contractor and will be starting our project in August! Photos to come.

Ellen has done a wonderful job with the preplanning of our project. Her vision to beautify our side yard will allow us to bring more natural light and a more peaceful view into our home. In anticipation of spring, she suggested we start the planning process during the fall. It was a great idea! Planning ahead has allowed us to explore a variety of possibilities, nixing some while honing in on a solid plan. Come March/April, she will be implementing the plan for our outdoor space. Ellen Weiss was contracted to do the landscaping at the Bellevue Big Picture School, in the Bellevue School District. We were on a limited budget, but Ellen Weiss was able to deliver a design and installation that will require very little maintenance, but will deliver continued interest and beauty from season to season. I highly recommend Ellen Weiss Landscape Design.
