This review is long overdue as we worked with Tom a couple of months ago. After interviewing several carpenters, we hired Tom to build and install new cabinetry and floating shelves with overhead lighting on either side of our fireplace, as well as a new mantle. I was working with an interior designer and had a design in mind when I first met with Tom. After showing Tom some pictures of the type of floating shelves we wanted as well as lighting, base cabinets and mantle, Tom immediately understood the look we were going for. He researched out ways to build and install the floating shelves that wound up saving us a significant amount of money compared to the quotes we received from other carpenters who all use a name brand bracket system that is very pricey. Tom was wonderful with our interior designer, offering to meet with her to make sure we were all on the same page as there were several aspects to the project that were a little challenging which included constructing an overhead soffit with crown molding and puck lighting. Tom is a true artist and an expert in quality cabinetry. His attention to detail is something not often found in most contractors. Tom went out of his way to find the perfect pieces of walnut for my project making sure all the pieces were from the same tree. He carefully designed the shelving and mantle so the wood grain lined up on all sides. The cabinets he built are far superior than anything you will find on the market today. Tom constructs his cabinets with hidden screws, removable toe kicks, leveling feet and many other features not found from many high end cabinet manufacturers. Our house presented several challenges during the installation to include severely warped walls and floors, but Tom had several tricks up his sleeve to overcome the obstacles. I could not be more pleased with everything Tom delivered – two shaker style base cabinets in a white furniture finish with stunning walnut tops, beautiful walnut floating shelves with overhead lighting and a gorgeous walnut mantle that complements our newly painted white brick fireplace. Tom is a hidden gem among carpenters in this area and is a delight to work with (he was the only carpenter we interviewed who was willing to dismantle and haul away our existing built-in cabinets). He truly cares about his craft and his clients delivering high quality workmanship at a reasonable price. I would recommend Tom without any hesitation and look forward to working with again on future projects.
