We started working with Nicolette on the remodel of our primary suite (bedroom, bathroom, closet and "cat room") about a year and a half ago. She was incredibly helpful from the beginning. Our project involved moving walls and plumbing, building a new master closet, and creating a small room for pet things. She had to go through multiple design modifications with us and ultimately created probably 10 different design possibilities for our space. She helped us to sort through the options to come up with our final plan. Something we had not anticipated at all was how many hundreds of decisions we would need to make for the space-cabinet style, colors, layout, heights, finishes, tile, etc. It was incredibly overwhelming, but Nicolette helped us with all of that, too! With every appointment at our house, she brought over baskets with tile, cabinet styles, and other samples. We discussed all the choices together and She created well organized spreadsheets with links to everything. This helped us to get past our decision fatigue and ultimately have a beautiful, cohesive space. Every appointment and communication with Nicolette was extremely well organized. We knew exactly what we needed to do before our next meeting and were totally clear on what she was doing. All ideas were supported by detailed CAD drawings, so we could even do walk-throughs of our spaces so detailed that we could look in the virtual mirror of our bathroom to check the tub placement in relation to the hallway. We had such a good experience that we decided to press forward and remodel our kitchen, too. This involved even more design decisions and a lot of frustration with structural beams, but Nicolette supported us every step of the way. Something that was especially important to me was good communication. Nicolette was always available to us on phone or email and responded within a day (usually within hours) OR was clear with us about when she would be able to respond. That did a lot to ease my anxiety about the remodel process, which is highly dependent on schedule. We have 20 months of history dealing with Nicolette and I have never once felt like she dropped the ball, was unclear in a response, or was "checking out" of the process. Ultimately, we moved back home a week ago and are delighted with the results of our remodel. Everything is so well thought out and is customized for exactly how my husband and I want to live in our home. Nicolette did so much for us with the great designs (we expected that from an architect), but also helped to smooth out a lot of the decision fatigue by curating things for us to choose from (we were not expecting that from the architect.) We recommend her 1000% (100% is not enough for the value Nicolette brings to a remodel project)

We knew we needed help with updating and improving the bizarre layout of our 1970’s home. Nicolette came to our rescue. It was really unclear how we would “crack the code” for turning some of the unusable spaces into functional and beautiful spaces we could call our own. She patiently listened to our ideas about changing our kitchen, dining area, primary bedroom space, two bathrooms and adding a laundry room (all while staying within a modest and defined budget.) Nicolette presented us with a variety of design layout options to choose from that offered distinct solutions and took advantage of different aspects of our floor plan. It was really helpful to see different approaches and talk through them with Nicolette in person and on site through a number of iterations. We also appreciated Nicolette’s candor and openness to working with different ideas. She kept us moving forward to lock down the plan in time to start buying the supplies needed to be ready when the contractor window opened up. Timing is everything on these projects and Nicolette helped us hit every milestone on time and on budget. She helped us choose beautiful kitchen cabinetry, tile, hardware, appliances, mirrors, lighting, flooring and paint. We really liked this model where we paid for materials and stored them onsite, ready for the contractor to install when needed. Nicolette has a positive, solution-oriented attitude and was always available to help solve the crisis du jour. Her relationship with her pool of contractors is strong and was a key to the success of our remodel given the disappointing results we had searching for a contractor on our own prior to hiring Nicolette. We bought our 80s home based on our dream location and lot, knowing we would need to eventually remodel it to work for us. Working with Nicolette on our home transformation was a perfect fit. From the start, Nicolette brought an endless array of ideas to the table, walking us through each concept with such passion and expertise. Our main goal was to have a large, state-of-the-art kitchen, and she transformed our vision into reality. We now have the kitchen we’d dreamed of – complete with a stunning lounge/bar area that ties the whole look together. We had Nicolette come to our home as we had been in our home for 20 years and we were ready for an update. Nicolette came to our home and took several pictures, and we spent a significant amount of time discussing the things that weren't working for us in our home. The home was built in 1989 and was complete with a sunken family room, no lights and no storage. Not to mention our kitchen was small and not functional. We were using our dining room as home office and quite honestly it was mess. After a few weeks Nicolette came back to us with 8 different floor plans in 3D designs so we could see the possibilities for our transformation. We couldn't believe our eyes. Was it really possible that our home could become functional yet stunning at the same time? After we settled on a design Nicolette spent ENDLESS hours making sure no detail was overlooked. She assisted us on a shopping trip to pick out new furniture. She came to the store with our floor plans and her measurements to ensure everything would fit into our new space. Nicolette used our old dining room as our new kitchen complete with lots of storage. Our old kitchen was turned into a beautiful entertainment bar with a huge island for entertaining. Our home is really a dream come true thanks to Nicolette!

Nicolette is a consummate professional. She is devoted to her craft and clients, has a great eye, and is VERY gifted in maximizing space. Nicolette is very communicative and is great at aligning and collaborating with her clients in creating beautiful living spaces. She is highly organized and has an effective process for coming up with the just the right blend of form and function and is completely devoted to making sure her clients achieve the look they are going for in a consultative manner. Nicolette is very good at setting proper expectations throughout the process as well - a rare skill these days. We loved working with Nicolette and will likely re-engage with her for another space renovation in the near future. My wife and I highly recommend her!

Nicolette transformed our kitchen and home in ways we never imagined possible! Backstory: we have 3 little kids and felt cramped in our home the way it was designed. We love our neighborhood and our location so moving wasn't something we were looking to do. We needed the storage and the room to grow. Plus, our kitchen was far too dark -especially on dreary Seattle days! Before contacting Nicolette, we had already decided we were going to remodel the entire downstairs of our home including new flooring, doors, trim & paint. We needed to update the laundry room, fireplace/family room, living room, dining room & kitchen. Lastly we were going to open up the drywall on the stairs and add ballisters and a railing. In short....this was a huge undertaking and we needed a professional! The moment we met with Nicolette, we loved her energy & excitement for her work. Her passion for design was clear. We loved the flexibility she offered to us in our design choices as well. Initially, she presented us with several varying options and we whittled it down from there to create the design that would work functionally for our family as well as be a beautiful design for many many years to come. She was great to work with - super responsive, flexible, creative, and she worked tirelessly to make sure everything was going to end up exactly as we wanted. The whole experience was positive and we so appreciated her opinions, ideas & dedication to the success of our project! Because of her designs, we took a few more risks than we would have as we were able to see how these would fit seamlessly into the overall flow of the home and I'm so glad we did! Nicolette has a trusted team of contractors that she recommended to us as well who were professional, kind, diligent, and quick! After two months, the whole downstairs of our home had been transformed and we couldn't be happier with our home and how the project went from start to finish. 10/10 would recommend Nicolette. She's fantastic. I will always happily be a reference for her.

Nicolette provided exceptional design services for my master bathroom renovation. Despite the challenging layout, Nicolette was able to present us with 7 viable solutions and ultimately helped us choose the perfect one. She was an excellent communicator throughout the entire process, she was very considerate of our budget and timeline. She presented us with a range of options at different price points, and worked with us to find cost-effective solutions that still met our design goals. She also worked hard to ensure that our personal design ideas were integrated into the final product. She actively listened to our needs and preferences and made adjustments to the design accordingly, resulting in a customized bathroom that perfectly met our needs. Nicolette also referred us to her contractor. We loved working with them, they showcased a great attention to detail. They followed Nicolette’s drawings, and would call her to double check. She was very involved in the demo and rebuilding of our bathroom and would visit us several times. This personalized approach, combined with Nicolette's exceptional design skills, made the entire renovation process both enjoyable and stress-free. I would definitely work with her again in the future!

Nicolette Bouw and her company, NIBIO LLC, were a pleasure to work with when we decided it was finally time to renovate our dark and dreary master bathroom. Nicolette offered creative, outside-the-box thinking and enough energy to power a small town! She accommodated our busy schedules when it came to meetings and was excellent at communicating and trouble-shooting when we hit a couple of snags. For example, our project got delayed multiple times due to the pandemic, but she was great at keeping us informed and figuring out next steps even when we were in a holding pattern. The end product is exactly what we envisioned in the space: a fresh, spacious, decluttered bathroom with tons of light, exotic tiles, organic colors, and a brand-new linen closet hidden by a barn door - great for all those bathroom items you need to stash. We could not be more pleased with the experience of working with Nicolette and would book her again for a project of any size. Highly recommended!

We are so happy with our new industrial kitchen! Working with Nicolette every step of the way was such fun. At the beginning of the project, Nicolette visited our home and got to know us, our needs, and our space. Her design process was iterative and we went through multiple options for layout, materials, and appliances. Nicolette presented us with a large variety of ideas for the kitchen design, which made it easier for us to think outside of the constraints of the old kitchen. Nicolette is very organized and she sent ideas about various options in nice summary documents. We went back to these documents many times as we researched materials and appliances. It was important to us to support local businesses and artisans as part of this project, and Nicolette found a local metal fabricator who created a beautiful custom island support table for our kitchen. Nicolette truly went above and beyond, and we are so glad that we worked with her!

We initially connected with Nicolette via referral from a friend who had completed a project with her. From our initial conversation, Nicolette was extremely encouraging (we had a small surface but ambitious plans to extend our kitchen and somehow fit in a new bathroom!) and really listened to all of our ideas. We met with Nicolette several times to discuss ideas, iterating on them and figuring out what was feasible, would add value while really fitting in our space. We had various ideas that implied very different layouts, different uses of the space, which Nicolette embraced with enthusiasm and was able to translate into different designs. After several meetings, Nicolette presented us with close to 10 design ideas that helped us visualize the various options and really helped us think through the pros and cons of each of the designs. We had pretty much constant communication in between physical meetings to share ideas around colors, material, cabinets, hardware, etc. Nicolette is well connected to various shops and showrooms that sell high quality products (Kitchen, flooring, etc) and accompanied us in those visits/selections and always worked with us to incorporate our ideas and preferences. She also worked her magic to locate the places where I could find some of the products I liked and somehow located the shop which produced my dream kitchen tiles! As the work progressed, Nicolette continued to provide her expertise and advice, things don't always go as planned in a remodel and we hit a couple of challenges due to the structure of the house but she always remained positive and worked with all of it to adapt the design as needed. We now have our dream kitchen, as well as a beautiful new bathroom. Looking at the before and after pictures, I am still scratching my head wondering how this happened and how we managed to keep the integrity of the house (we loved it before, we love it even more now) but that is the Nicolette touch :) The design is wholesome, unique (feels like "us" vs. mainstream kitchen design) and highly functional. It was a pleasure working with Nicolette and I highly recommend her as a designer - I would work with her again.

I'd give Nicolette 10 stars if I could! Besides being a delightful person to work with, she listened to me and advocated for me throughout the process. She had great vision for the project and thought of things I never would have on my own. Starting with the design work, she provided several options that fit my wish list and was happy to move ahead with my choice. She didn't try to talk me into some popular options (like a stand alone tub) that I didn't prefer. She made sure that the design would work for my disabled husband. I told her I'd be overwhelmed with too many tile choices, so she did the legwork and brought a reasonable number of tile options for me to consider. I met with her at the cabinet and countertop businesses to choose from their selections, and it was clear that she had a great working relationship with them. She provided the construction crew with very complete and detailed instructions, which I know they appreciated. The construction company wanted me to buy the sinks, toilet, tub, and the bathroom hardware myself, and Nicolette provided great recommendations for each item. When the shower door they ordered didn't work, she was the one who went online to find a good replacement, even though she had already been paid in full. She saw it through to the very last touch up. I couldn't be happier with the result! And I whole-heartedly recommend NIBO/Nicolette!

I am a home remodeler / DIy person and I have remodeled several houses. One thing I have found, over many remodels, is having someone to work with on the design and big picture is a huge benefit. We hired Nicolette in 2020 after working through home centers designs, cabinet company designs and a bunch of our own designs. None of them felt right for our project. Browsing through Houzz, much like others, I stumbled on Nicolette and Nibio. My wife and I met her and after our initial meeting, we had a good feeling. We went ahead and hired her to get us where we wanted to be. All I can say is we got a kitchen that is way better than my wildest dream. Nicolette pushed us a bit, but I am so glad she did. Just to walk through the process after our initial meeting. Nicolette showed up at our house and took a ton of measurements. We talked about ideas, but very general ideas. She left and came back a couple of weeks later with 5 completely different designs. She lugged in a giant computer and story boards for us to look at. She showed us the designs in 3 D, from super simple to exceedingly complex, which was great, because it showed what was possible. We picked parts and pieces from three of the designs that we liked. Nicolette then did her magic and came back a couple of weeks later with the plan, and we were ready to go. We went to the cabinet company that Nicolette works with to start our cabinet design, then bam Covid hits and everything shuts down. We hadn’t done much, so we decided to wait until the following year. Nicolette kept in touch and we went for it at the end of April 2021. Our remodel was a down to the studs of a kitchen, dining room and living room. It included vaulting our ceiling in a section to match our existing. I managed sub-contractors who completed the project, but I ended up using some of Nicolette’s contacts as well. The thing that was really nice was I had someone to bounce changes off of, and over the year long Covid wait, we made several. When the kitchen was finished, it really turned into a dream kitchen / dining room and family room. We were super happy that we hired Nibio, and I am sure that we wouldn’t have what we have now without her. After being in the kitchen for several months now, there is nothing that I would change or do differently (that is rare for me, as I always think about different ways that I could have done something). I can 100% say that hiring Nicolette was a great decision and would recommend her to anyone.
