We purchased a Breckenridge home in 2003 that Jon Gunson had designed for the original owner, When some extensive water damage occurred, it was necessary to reconstruct a portion of the home which led us to redesign the entire interior. We contacted Jon's office in Breckenridge for guidance and the result was an interior design that significantly exceeded our expectations in producing the mountain ambiance that we desired. Jon recommended a talented designer who complimented his creativity and maximized the potential of our home. A guest recently described the remodel as "stunning". Jon Gunson was the architect for our mountain home. He demonstrated more than just compulsive attention to detail, Jon interpreted our hopes for a beautiful retreat beyond our dreams. Over the years, he has remained a trusted adviser on additional projects, home maintenance and interior design. One example of Jon's love of his profession: during the framing of our home, Jon was called out of town one Sunday on a family medical emergency. The Saturday night before he had to leave, we found him at 9 pm, walking through the framing with a flashlight, assuring himself that the work done earlier was up to his standards. Further, whenever there was a question or concern with our builder, Jon ran interference for us and made sure we were pleased. For Jon, there is no compromise to quality. Years later, our home remains a beautiful, timeless repository of our family memories. We could not be happier with the work Jon Gunson did on our behalf.

Jon is both creative and collaborative and was a delight to work with in constructing buildings for a non-profit environmental center that we founded. Visitors to the center always comment on the quality of the design and the attention to detail. The format he uses for the bidding process made everything work smoothly. He also solved a variety of infrastructure issues that we faced on property in addition to navigating the permitting process. We would high recommend Jon.

He was selected from an invitation for proposal from 10 Colorado architects. His work stood out and his interpretation of our ideas was spot on. Jon is meticulous in every respect from site planning to overseeing construction over a 13 month period. His drawings and plans were exceptionally detailed and accurate and commended by the contractors. Craftsmen were able to fit large timbers with ease and with few contract change orders on all work. While mild mannered, he is persuasive in making his arguments supporting his ideas. Our architectural program expressed among other things to keep the scale of the home limited in size. We got everything we wanted in an efficient layout and design features. The project was recognized with awards and publications. I have had many construction projects over the years, and this one was the most satisfying of all from start of design to finish.

I hired Jon Gunson to design bid and oversee the construction of our cabin at Elk Creek Ranch. He was easy to work with and very accommodating. If he had a different opinion he would tell you and tell you why. I only disagreed on a couple of items on the plan and it was purely personal taste. Jon gave me exactly what we wanted We love the cabin. I was not close to the construction site and could not visit the site. I walked in after completion and told Jon and the contractor I would call them with any problems I had after I lived in the cabin. I never called. The quality was exceptional. It was a very pleasant experience.

For our Breckenridge home we interviewed several local architects and it became clear that Jon Gunson was the best. Most importantly, Jon is a creative genius. Secondly, he is process driven. Nothing gets overlooked with a Jon Gunson design. He insists on developing multiple design alternatives with interactive review sessions with the client. The end result is that the final blueprints and voluminous supporting documents reflect a plan thoroughly thought out. We have a modest collection of art but our Picasso is the home Jon Gunson designed for us. A true Mountain Masterpiece.

Jon Gunson designed our home in the Colorado High Country 16 years ago and supervised its construction. The home has proven to be the most enjoyable and rewarding investment we have ever made. What an amazing experience we had working with Jon Gunson! His work is excellent, creative, and beautiful. Because we lived in Texas while we built this house in Colorado, we were overwhelmed by his attention to detail and how often he was at our site checking on the construction. Our early design process with Jon was really fun as well. This was our 3rd home building project, and by far the best yet. I have had previous experience with talented and creative architects in building three large homes. Jon Gunson has proven to be the best experience yet. A knowledgable and well rounded individual, he has proven to be a conscientious architect with excellent creative skills and extensive accomplishments over a forty year record. I started my current project with another architect who worked for over 18 months to produce a very unispired unimaginative and incomplete set of drawings. Discussing the potential development of a 6000 square foot home on my rather complicated lot led quickly to Jon Gunson's offering of three wonderfully creative options drawn in great detail in a period of 2-3 weeks. After seeing some of his previous projects with Jon as the guide, he won the job. I did not expect to enjoy so much of his personal attention after the honeymoon phase of my initial exposure was concluded. However, now the project is almost completely framed and covered and Jon has continued to be immediately available and responsive. He has been very generous with his time and he has proven to be a gentleman with a grace that is rarely experienced. I have enjoyed my new friendship and working realationship with Jon; it has been an excellent experience and I would give Jon Gunson my highest recommendation.

Jon Gunson did a site analysis for us on what I thought was a difficult lot. He managed to capture the best views and manipulate the floor plan of our dream home into a rather difficult space. His thoughtful and precise planning are more than refreshing and original. Having worked in the real estate industry for decades I can truly appreciate his very unique ability to create that "extra special" space that only someone with a vision can produce. Years of experience provide a platform for successfully addressing issues of building in the High Country of Colorado (snow, slope, and load issues). We feel very blessed to have had Jon agree to design our home. Without Jon Gunson this home would NOT have happened. Really.
