Kevin and his team at Train Custom Homes were the best Home Builders I’ve ever used! Kevin is extremely responsive and has all the right sub-contractors to get the job done right. For almost 3 years straight, we used Kevin for our Lake Athens, TX home rebuild. First we built a standalone Casita and then totally remodel the existing home structure. We then joined the 2 structures together to complete the homes final design. We then went on to totally remodel an existing metal barn to turn it into a fully insulated car workshop and showroom to match the look and feel of the home. The results were “Stunning”. Kevin Jackson and his team were professional, and very helpful from the start to the finish of building our house and guest house. They worked well with architects and interior designer and were fully incorporated into the team concept. The quality and craftsmanship of their construction was first class (we’ve built two previous homes in Dallas and Kevin’s team here on Lake Athens measured up, and in many instances exceeded our prior experiences in the Metroplex). Even though Kevin’s team competed our house in 2022, he is still available today (2025) to look at our finished home and tweak anything that comes up.

Working with Train was a very enjoyable experience. The quality of the product they produced was outstanding. I bid my project around to 10-15 different builders. Train was not the cheapest nor were they the most expensive, but I do believe that they were the most trustworthy. No point during my build did I get overwhelmed, surprised, or frustrated. They were always upfront and honest about issues or potential problems. They at times went above a beyond my expectations like, driving 8 hours to get 500 bricks from the manufacture just to keep the project moving forward. I do not know many builders that would do that. The only down side to the project was in ended. The job site employees were always polite and helpful. They became friends rather than just employees of Train (I am considering a new project just to get them back). In all honesty, if I ever have a new project I will not waste my time getting bids, I will just call Ronnie and let Train have it.

My husband and I are thrilled with the completion of our master bathroom remodel and painting of our master bedroom and study. It was completed by Train Custom Homes, co-owned by Ronnie Sherrard. Ronnie supervised the building our our home back in 2001 when he was working with a different company. It was a good experience then so we felt comfortable reaching out to him again. We spent two months with him just planning the bathroom with our wants and needs. Ronnie is deliberate and sequential in his thought process but this definitely works for him. He knows what he’s doing and it shows in the end result! Ronnies bid came back higher than we had hoped.. Ronnie reassured us that he inflated numbers to cover any issues and we finally agreed. Ronnie respected us/ our home by removing our carpet and laying drop cloths. He added some temporary deadbolts so workers only had access to the work area only and not the rest of our home. He also added an outdoor camera to see who was actually coming and going Ronnie is a good, honest, Christian man who wants to please his clients. We are happy with all the work done in 9 weeks and especially several thousand less than quoted! Use him, you won’t be sorry. Many thanks to him, Brandon, and Wade, Ronnie’s right hand men, thanks for perfecting those final details, You two made this experience even better than our first! ❤️ Already planning the next update!

Where to begin? The build took 13 months to complete after we basically said we aren’t paying for another month of storage, we have to move in. The tile in the shower was hideous and we asked over and over to have it corrected only to be put off until the 13th month(3redoes because they couldn’t seem to get the tile straight). Sadly the builder was rarely around to oversee his contractors! The paint was and still is a sight! We asked for 5 months before the build was done when the painter was coming out to correct the lousy job! They put us off and put us off! The bookkeeping was questionable! Needless to say 6 months after living here we have had to have the master shower re-grouted, the shower door rehung, two doorknobs replaced, the front doors adjusted and the towel racks rehung! We never got our final grade. Disappointed!!!!

The build job went very well. I was pleased with the overall workmanship and the builder relationship. The flow of the construction was excellent. I would highly recommend Train Custom Homes to anyone.

If you've ever built a new home, you probably know it can be a trying experience if you don't find the right contractor. I don't believe I could have had a better building experience than with Ronnie and Kevin at Train Custom Homes. I am very detail and quality conscious and was pleased to find the Train team the same. My project was fairly large, two story +5,000 ft2, and required a little more than what I think of as typical construction...a mechanically lifted slab on piers, all stone exterior, raised seam steel roofing. The project was finished timely and working through any issues along the way was never a problem with the Train team. Continue to get lots of compliments on the house and would recommend Train to anyone wanting a quality work product and a professional design and building company.

If you want a well built home these are the people to call. Ronnie is the most thorough builder you will find. He will work with you through every step of the building process and will make sure things are done correctly. Ronnie and Kevin have many years of experience and they use it to help you make the best decisions for your home. They truly build your home in exactly the same way they would build their own. They stand behind their work and are 100% trustworthy. People talk about how stressful building a home is but we had the complete opposite experience with Train Custom Homes. With our home, Kevin embraced the challenge of working with unique finishes like recycled glass and concrete countertops (Vetrazzo) and helping us source rare porcelain plank floors that look like reclaimed barn wood. From a customer service standpoint, they’re exceptional. Your calls and e-mails will be returned. They also have a great team of sub-contractors and artisans, which have been with them for years. It is clear there is a level of personal pride that goes into each client project. They back that pride with a solid warranty program and in our case, we’re pleased that our project came in within budget. When your friends and family tell you your home should be in Architectural Digest---that’s just a bonus. It’s a big responsibility to build someone’s home. A home is the core of a family, it’s your sanctuary and it’s a serious financial investment, one that can cannot be entrusted to just any builder.
