It’s not often that a reviewer praises a contractor for what he DIDN’T do. Austin Ireland, the owner and operator of Drytek, didn’t propose spending several thousand dollars on encapsulating my wet crawl space. He said that in my case encapsulation might not be cost effective. You see, my 50 year-old home’s foundation consists of 8”x 8” wood posts, with the foundation’s perimeter enclosed by 1”x 6” boards, slatted to allow for ventilation. The layout of my irregular crawl space posed other installation problems as well. Among other things, insulation panels would need to be installed to form walls in addition to the vapor barrier and a large dehumidifier. Four contractors/salespersons preceded Drytek’s Austin Ireland. One simply said there’s nothing that can be done. Another proposed encapsulating the crawl space from the OUTSIDE, but thankfully never followed up. Another did an evaluation, but never returned my calls. Dryzone wanted $8,500 but offered a pressure tactic $425 discount if I signed a vague contract the same day the salesman came. Later the salesperson said the installation of insulation boards would raise the cost significantly. The salesperson at Dryzone also said he would call back, but didn’t. Drytek’s Austin Ireland, on the other hand, took more time than any of others to carefully examine my crawl space. I crawled with him as he pointed out the condition of my crawl space and the challenges of encapsulation. By this time, my own research had better prepared me to better evaluate proposals. I found him to be knowledgeable, straightforward and honest. I was a highly motivated prospective customer. Last year a HVAC system had been installed with the air handler, electronics, and ductwork in my crawl space. The moisture in the crawl space last summer was degrading the new system. So what did Austin Ireland of Drytek propose? Four centrifugal snail fans joined together by extension cords, placed strategically in the crawl space. These are not exhaust fans to ventilate, but rather air movers like you may have seen in public bathrooms to dry floors. He even showed me what to do, and wouldn’t take any payment for his visit. After investing $400 the next day at Home Depot , I located the fans, connected the extension cords to the receptacles in the fans and waited for the heat and humidity to test Austin Ireland’s theory. It is now six weeks later and we have had three prolonged periods of hot, humid weather during which I have activated the fans. THE CRAWL SPACE HAS STAYED AS DRY AS A BONE. Amazing! The vast majority of wet crawl spaces need to be encapsulated; mine did not. But it took a trustworthy expert whose ethics mattered more than profit to present the best solution for me. Austin Ireland, owner and operator of Drytek, is that person.

The Dry-Tek emplyees were capable and hard working. They performed the work exactly as proposed by the sales rep: cleaning out the crawl space, insulating with 4" foam, laying a ground barrier, sealing with waterproof tape, installing a new dehumidifier and replacing a sump pump. For 10 months all was perfect until a foul odor that had developed in the crawl space began stinking up the house. Soil gas, they say. Dry-Tek proposed an o-zone generator. Instead I jerry rigged a passive venting system from the sump pump to an old foundation vent and sealed with plastic and wp tape. So far, it is working well. In addition, last year I saw a Ringneck snake in the outside access well area adjacent to the foundation. I like to think that it's tunnel could be a natural vent also. Who knows.

My experience with Dry-TeK was exceptional from the initial call to inquire about my crawl space all the way through to completion of the project. Joe was prompt returning my call and the initial appointment. Questions and concerns regarding my problem were completely addressed during the the first visit and the followup presentation was professional. Everyone including Joe the salesperson, Kyle, project supervisor, the work crew and Charlie the electrician were knowledgeable and went out of their way to make sure any questions were addressed. I had experience with other companies in this field and felt Dry-Tek was a cut above the others.

Dry-Tek came to our home to determine and remove the mold in the attic due to a leaky roof. They were very professional and did the job in no time flat. They were courteous, and took care to place covering on surfaces to avoid tracking in of dirt or spreading the mold. They were especially helpful in our dealings with our insurance company and were patient with the requirements of both the insurance company and fully explained and scheduled an independent environmental inspection company to perform required testing after the job was completed. They were very responsive with any of our questions with prompt follow-up communications. They were efficient in coordinating deadlines with the roof replacement. Thank you Dry-Tek! Dry-Tek encapsulated my crawlspace and installed a dehumidifier. The whole team was professional and courteous and did what they said they would do. Would recommend them highly for any crawlspace issues.

I hired Dry-Tek for the purpose of encapsulating & waterproofing my crawlspace to address a mold problem we were experiencing in our home. From the initial phone call to the very last bit of work done everyone involved was courteous, professional & positive in attitude. it has been three weeks since the job was completed (on time, by the way) and I'm already noticing a difference with my allergies in a very positive way. I am only too glad to have the opportunity to write a review for Austin and Dry-Tek. I discovered a had a water problem under my house and initially called a different company to come out and take a look. This company never showed up for their appointment nor did they return any phone calls. I saw an advertisement for Dry-Tek and contacted them. I spoke with Austin at that time. He was very professional, answered all my questions and then he showed up when he was supposed to be there. He did my survey and sent me the proposal. Once i received the proposal, he called me to discuss the benefits of each and he helped me select the one that was proper for me. The work was completed with follow up by Austin. I would recommend Austin and Dry-Tek to anyone who had any issues that fall under Dry-Tek's scope of work.
