Superior Tile Design

Job fell short of expected and promised. Hired Filip from a referral by neighbor to install countertops and backsplash . When asked how long the project would take from demo to finished, Filip said "3-4 days tops". The job took 3 weeks. We were left idle without kitchen and bathroom countertops and sinks for a week. Countertops and sinks were installed a week later and then Filip said his tools were elsewhere on another job and he wouldn't be able to come back for several days to do the backsplash in bathrooms and kitchen. He reassured me that he wanted to be the one to do the job and not someone else that works for him in order for the job to be done "right" and because "my name is on it". We remained patient and expected a first class job based on his re-assurance. Once Filip came back in the third week, it felt very rushed. Based on several comments by him and the numerous days of nothing being done, he clearly has overbooked his schedule and can't do the job as promised in a timely and LEVEL fashion. As the backsplash was being installed in a frantic pace, I was a bit surprised that Filip and his worker were taking no measures to make sure the tile was level. My concern was validated. Once the job was done, there were areas of high and low tile that even the naked eye could see wasn't level. A laser level or any leveling device could ensure that the tile was being set level during the install. This type of tile backsplash would especially need level lines. When I pointed out the issues to Filip after he left via text with pictures, he suggested my phone must be "crooked" and that "life is not level". I couldn't believe his response. I sent him an email after the text conversation to voice and express my concern and he's not responded after 5 days. My neighbors tile job did not have these issues, so without being rushed and having the proper tools, I believe Filip is capable of doing a better job. I hired Filip after seeing our neighbors finished product. Unfortunately for him, I have an eye for and pay attention to detail. Very frustrating and I reserved posting a negative review in hopes that he would respond and in the correct manner. His silence speaks volumes in many ways. With a slow methodical and leveling tool, this backsplash could've been better. Not only not level, areas of tile not flush and flat. Not reflective of the name. Very rushed and clearly “on to the next job”.
