About Us
Burley Boys Tree Service commenced operation on Vancouver's North Shore in 1983, founded by Lars Shearer, a veteran of the industry.
Beginning operations as one man with a truck and a dream, the Company quickly grew to where it now stands, employing over 20 specialists including certified fallers, arborists, climbers, and other trained professionals dedicated to the task of keeping one of the most heavily treed and densely populated areas of Canada safe and beautiful.
In the fall of 2014, long-time managers of Burley Boys, Erik Helssen & Sean Wightman, became partners in the Company. Both Erik & Sean began at Burley Boys as teenagers, working their way up the ranks, from grounds crew members, to climbers, arborists, and lastly, managers. In 2020 Lars retired, with Erik & Sean taking full ownership of the Company.
Our current area of coverage includes Vancouver’s Lower Mainland, the North Shore, and Whistler, where we perform tree services from cutting to shaping, as well as, moving, planting, clearing, and other specialty arborist services.

Contact Burley Boys

It was later revealed that the client had misrepresented where his property corners were, and as a result, a few trees that belonged to the municipal trail which ran along the bottom of his property were cut in error. Our Company clearly states in our terms & conditions that we are relying on the customer’s representation that the work is within the boundaries of the customer’s property or the customer has received the consent of all applicable property owners, and that the customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Burley Boys Tree Service Ltd. including its employees and agents, against any cost, liability, or damages resulting from inaccuracy or untruthfulness of this representation.
Following meetings & discussions with the Municipality, the local fire chief, and the neighbours, it was agreed to clean up the debris that was cut on municipal land, as well as, old debris that had been left there from previous contractors. The client, who lived overseas at this time, did not reply to numerous follow up emails, phone calls and messages regarding the debris issue. Because it constituted a fire hazard, it was decided by Burley Boys to clean it up in good faith. After explaining to Mr. Boyd in subsequent conversations that we probably saved him litigation by cleaning up the debris, he agreed to pay 1/2 the fee and chalked it up to a “misunderstanding”.
