Hi there. It's fixed so that means you have to turn on the tub and then pull it to shower once you're in. Hinges are a great idea however be sure the glass clears the toilet when opening. good luck with your project! TMD

I,m having my bath redone and there is a window in the space for the new shower. I was told the window had to go so before they close it up forever can you tell me what to do to keep a window and not have any problems with it.

This is a tricky situation. This bathroom is a very light use guest bath and that is a 100% wood window, not vinyl. It works because of the low use (guest bath). If you have wood windows in a shower that is used frequently you might want to consider vinyl - wood takes a serious beating with the moisture. I am a big believer in natural light. There was talk of removing this window too, but honestly it's the most gorgeous part of the bathroom so we found a way to make it work. Talk over ALL of your options with your contractor and do a little more research so you feel very comfortable with the decision of taking out precious natural light. Best, Tamara

What about some sort of glass block or frosted glass with a vinyl window -- you keep the light but don't have a problem with wood. Does the window have to open (due to code)? If not, some sort of custom glass block might be great.
