I can't emphasize how much I love the work of B + O design studio. They helped me design an incredible home for our family - truly a dream to live in. Scott took the time up front to learn who we are and how we live to help us meet every design need we had. Scott worked closely with us to create a home that was both beautiful and functional - it achieved every single goal we had and then some. As time has passed, we have grown to appreciate Scott's work even more - and as we have moved on to a new home - have appreciated how much thought was given to function and aesthetics...so much that we asked Scott to do a remodel for our new home to try to achieve some of the same goals we had for our custom home. I would not hesitate to recommend them and if I have another project, I know who to call.

I discovered this firm on Houzz and loved there whimsy and attitude. We are looking forward to working with them to design our retirement home. We love that the team consists of architect and landscape architect, as it is important to us that the entire site work together.

Lara Berkley designed my dream yard. During the initial two-hour=plus complementary visit, she carefully listened to my thoughts and concepts about what I wanted in my fantasy yard and took photos of the images I had collected of projects that I liked. I took several months to more carefully hone my thoughts which I sent to her along with giving her the "green light" to proceed with the design. She created two plans in a timely manner and the fee was stated upfront. One was beautiful and one truly "blew me away." Lara had crawled into my head mining all of my dreams and crafted them into this design. It was amazing. She also recommended the most wonderful garden installer whom I hope to work with for years to come. We also had a terrific hard scape firm as well. During the process, many passers-by would comment on the transfirmation and every time I am out doing yardwork, people still stop by to tell me how fantastic the yard looks. Both the garden installer and hard scape firm enjoyed executing the plan. It was a fabulous experience. Another landscape architect drew up a design several years ago, but the person just dashed off a plan and did not appear to really listen to my concepts.Lara really listened in a respectful, positive, engaging manner and asked good questions. I enjoyed out time together. I heartily recommend Lara Berkley as a professional who can help you make your yard dreams a reality.

We have used B+O's services for both our commercial office upfit and our home remodel. B+O always brought a fresh perspective and a sense of what's possible to the table. During boom time in Wilmington, it was hard to get the attention of a builder who knew what he was doing. With B+O on the project, I could trust that the vision would be carried through to the finished project, even when the inspections department placed roadblocks in our path.

Scott designed our home for us in 2010, construction completed early 2011. Working with B&O was easy, fun and rewarding. We had never worked with an architect before, so cannot compare Scott to any past experiences but I can say that we enjoyed the process so much that, as great as our house, we cannot help but want to build again in the near future. As a roofing contractor, I have had the pleasure of working on some of Scott's other projects: 'Cornelius Residence' which is an outstanding modern home near Wrightsville Beach, and 'Midori', small single family units on on 29th st - both worth a visit if you can work it out. I recommend Scott to anyone who wants to build green, modernist, or think outside the conventional box in any way.

B + O design studio coached us while designing our green forever home. They led us through the process of figuring out exactly what we wanted in our new home. They helped us to think through the space, flow, comfort, orientation, lot characteristics, native landscaping, etc. The end result was a home we love!
