DK Martin Construction completed our first custom home in October 1991. It was a great experience and our new home far exceeded our expectations. We had purchased a difficult waterfront building lot and it was our first home building project. A friend who was also a very satisfied DK Martin Construction custom home customer referred us. Dwight Martin was the best choice we could have made to guide us through the process and to manage the project. When we decided to build our current home in 2003, we chose to work with Dwight for a second time. Again, it was a tricky waterfront building lot. We had a very position experience that resulted in the wonderful custom home which we live in today. Dwight is very knowledgeable. His custom homes are of the highest quality. He is an excellent communicator and is a real pleasure to work with. His honesty and integrity are unsurpassed. When challenges present themselves, he is creative and very solution oriented. A friend of mine recommended DK Martin Construction to us, when we chatted about his custom home he was building. He was so positive about the company that I added them to the list of bids for our (major) remodel. We had several companies do bids for our project. Bids ranged from $220k to $295k, with DK Martin being in the middle. The reason we decided to work with them was their approach to the bid, the owner's honesty in answering, and obviously because of my friend's recommendation and the quality of work that I had seen at his house. We weren't disappointed. Before we started construction Dwight (the owner) gave us some feedback on the plans from the architect we had been working with. He was spot on. Together with Dwight I redesigned small parts and we ended up with a more functional and better looking addition. We also ran into a setback issue, which our architect had overlooked. I came up with a 'non-traditional' solution and Dwight was able to make it happen. We also had an issue with the permit, which our architect had missed. Dwight worked with the onsite inspector to get that out of the way in a very professional way. Construction started in June and most of it was done in October. We were traveling most of the time and monitored the process with a webcam. We trusted Dwight and his crew that everything would come out great. DK Martin Construction never asked us for money up front. Dwight billed us in the first week of the months after the work was done. We didn't have to pay upfront for material or make any kind of deposits. If anything, Dwight charged us for work too late. It was amazingly easy to work with him. I also never felt I get nickel-and-dimed for any small changes we asked for. When we asked for larger changes, we obviously paid for them, but when we wanted something done, that wasn't a lot of work, it never showed up as additional billed expense. We are now working on our second project with DK Martin Construction to turn our old garage into our new kitchen and again it's the same positive experience.

DK Martin Construction helped us design, and built, our home in Washington.
