Cheney Builders

My wife and I recently completed construction of our new home in the Spanish Hills section of Camarillo. After interviewing several candidates for general contractor, we selected Cheney Construction, Inc. It was the correct decision. Throughout the process company owner Shaun Cheney provided resourceful and innovative solutions to otherwise perplexing problems. Cheney Construction also assembled a team of competent and cooperative sub-contractors. This company always exhibited a strong commitment to quality workmanship. Additionally, even after the certificate of occupancy was obtained, Shaun visited our home to remediate even the smallest of imperfections. On balance, Cheney Construction proved to be a contractor that honored their commitment to excellence.

Shaun and his crew just completed an exterior remodel of our home. They removed old T1-11 siding, replaced it with stucco, reinforced decking, and painted our home (3,400 sq. ft. tri-level). The project took about 3 months. Shaun did a flawless job. From bid iterations to scheduling to completion, he was responsive, professional, thorough, and thoughtful. His crews were consistent, skilled, and conscientious. My husband and I love to do our own work, so we see every little detail and quality is very important to us. Shaun exceeded our expectations. We have a few more projects and will definitely call him again.

We really enjoyed working with Shaun on several home projects, including plumbing, electrical work, and general carpentry. Shaun had great ideas, and he and his crew provided high quality work at an excellent price. We are very pleased with Shaun's work, and will continue to contact him for future projects.

I don't usually write reviews, but I'm taking the time to do this because it is so rare to find a contractor that is as professional as Mr. Shaun Cheney of Cheney Builders. I found Cheney Builders on an internet search. I have hired Cheney Builders for several jobs now: 1. To build and paint a gate in an existing fence, reusing as much wood as possible (cost about $480). 2. To replace siding on one wall of our garage and fix a door (about $1800—lower than anyone out there). 3. To replace and paint fence boards that have dry rot in 5 different condo units (about $1800) 4. To patch/paint crumbling drywall in the garage (about $100). Here's why I like Cheney Builders (and will DEFINITELY hire them again): *the prices are fair for the work performed *Mr. Cheney (the owner) personally handles the work and works closely with trusted professionals *Mr. Cheney was consistently punctual and completed the work in a timely manner *When he gave quotes, he noticed things that the other professionals did not (like possible termite damage) *The area was clean after the work was performed. It was as if they were never there. This is especially important to me, because I have a 1 year old running around. *The area was clean even while they performed the work. (Shocking, I know.) *Although they did woodworking projects, it was surprisingly quiet. No listening to saws and drills all day. In fact, for the siding project, they cut all the pieces in their workshop. Mr. Cheney brought a handheld jigsaw for the fence work. I was blown away as to how peaceful it was, even though the place was under construction. *They completed the work in the time frame promised. *It looked GREAT when they were done. The siding blended in well with the existing siding. The gate blended in well with the fence. Cheney Builders pays attention to detail. They are so organized and do stellar work. I'm really impressed! And it takes a LOT to impress me.

Cheney Builders did a pilot tile program for us for one of our hotels in Pismo. They did a great job finished on time and had no change orders. I couldn't be happier with their work and their professionalism. We will be using them again.
