The home owner selected this particular shade of white.

It is nice because it is not too stark. It has warmth to complement the Chelsea Gray.

The crows nest is actually a light monitor that brings natural light into the center of the house.
Here is a link to a Houzz Tour that Becky Harris did last year. it will show some interiors and you will be able to see how the light monitor works.

Thanks for your question !

Dutcher Crossing Winery (Sonoma) has a similar feel except open breezeway. I envision garage on ground level of "guest wing" with in-law apartment above (to be lived in during construction of the main home. Note the winery website shows incorporation of an outdoor living area that functionally might face the "main house with the breezeway being the outdoor room - ability to close off elements. Now I know who to contact :) Nice work, Dan Nelson

Pangaea Interior Design- the air curtain unit does work for flying insects but does not work for your utility bill. Very inefficient to run and not very "green"

Would it really be that inefficient? Suppose it would also depend on how many hours the door was left up. Have not found that running ceiling fans uses much electricity.

Hi Betboy,

Yes the opposite wall is open to the outside. It actually opens on to an outdoor patio that the clients use in the evenings. The wind from the southwest in this part of the country picks up significantly in the late afternoon around 2:00 pm. The sliding walls are closed when the wind picks up thus sheltering the patio.

Becky Harris wrote a great article about this project, and here is the link if you would like to find out more about it.

Dan

how nice of you to answer, we were concerned about putting a slider and windows in one wall, having the house and garage walls connecting and leaving the front wall open....think I will proceed as planned with 3 walls, one open
